Analysis of differentially expressed proteins between the spinetoram-susceptible and -resistant strains of Plutella xylostella (L.)

        Fei Yin,Qing Sheng Lin,Xia Feng,Huan-yu Chen,Zhen-yu Li,Zhen-di Hu 한국응용곤충학회 2017 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.20 No.1

Plutella xylostella (L.), aworldwide vegetable pest, has developed resistance to spinetoram, whichwas previously effective for the control of P. xylostella (L.). The insecticidal resistance mechanismis essential to develop effective resistance management strategies. To explore the spinetoram resistance mechanism, a comparative proteomics approach was used to investigate the proteomic differences between the spinetoram-susceptible strain (SS) and spinetoram-resistant strain (RS) of P. xylostella (L.). Approximately 280 protein spotswere detected on each SDSPAGE gel. Of these, 19 proteinswere successfully identified byMALDI-TOF-MS.·Therewere 6 significantly downregulated spots and 13 up-regulated spots in RS, which showed significantly difference compared to that in SS. Based on the gene ontology(GO) system and KEGG database, the 19 identified proteins were classified into 6 groups includingmetabolisms, signal transduction, chaperones, transcriptional, protein synthesis, structural protein. Meanwhile, the expression profiles of 5 resistant related protein were further analysed by qRT-PCR. The results showed that 60S acidic ribosomal protein P2, glutathione S-transferase isozyme 3 and glutathione Stransferase deltawere significantly up-regulated,while phosphoglyceratemutase and receptor for activated protein kinase C homolog were significantly down-regulated. The expression tendency of mRNA was in accordance with which of protein. This study provided evidences that spinetoram induces proteomic changes in P. xylostella (L.), and it is contributed to help us understand the resistance mechanism of P. xylostella (L.) to spinetoram.

Electron Heating and Current Scaling in a Two-dimensional Electron System in Close Proximity to Nanoscale Scatterers

        Yi-Ting Wang,Chun-Kai Yang,Sheng-Di Lin,Chi-Te Liang 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.64 No.10

We have performed magneto-transport measurements on a two-dimensional electron system(2DES) which is in close proximity to nanoscaled scatterers. Weak localization, as evidenced bynegative magnetoresistance, is observed. In this work, we use the extracted phase coherence rateas a thermometer to measure the electron’s effective temperature Te in our 2DES when a highdriving current I flows through the device. We find that Te / I0.52, consistent with 1/ep T2in two dimensions, where 1/ep is the electron-phonon scattering rate. However, the phase coherencerate 1/ T, with a very small offset, is consistent with zero-temperature dephasing. Mostimportantly, our experimental results are in agreement with the fact that at low temperatures, thedominant phase-breaking mechanism is electron-electron scattering, not electron-phonon scattering. Therefore we are able to investigate both electron-electron scattering and electron-phonon scatteringwhich are, in most cases, difficult to study independently in the linear region. Our data showthat the electron heating effect is a very powerful tool for studying semiconductor devices.

Probing Insulator-quantum Hall Transitions by Current Heating

        Kuang Yao Chen,N. Aoki,Y. Ochiai,K. A. Cheng,Li-Hung Lin,C. F. Huang,Yu-Ru Li,Yen Shung Tseng,Chun-Kai Yang,Po-Tsun Lin,Jau-Yang Wu,Sheng-Di Lin,C.-T. Liang 한국물리학회 2009 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.55 No.1

We report a magneto-transport study on the two-dimensional electron system (2DES) in an Al- GaAs/GaAs heterostructure. The direct insulator to quantum Hall conductor transition is observed at low temperatures by increasing the magnetic field B perpendicular to the 2DES. We can also observe the transition by varying the current I and find a relation Te~Ia between electron effective temperature Te and current. Here, a denotes the exponent for the power law. The exponent a, however, can have different values on the two sides of the transition point, which indicates different inelastic scattering mechanisms in the low-field insulator and in the quantum Hall conductor. • Multivariate Analysis of the Prognosis of 37 Chondrosarcoma Patients

        Yang, Zheng-Ming,Tao, Hui-Min,Ye, Zhao-Ming,Li, Wei-Xu,Lin, Nong,Yang, Di-Sheng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.4

Objective: The current study aimedto screen for possible factors which affect prognosis of chondrosarcoma. Methods: Thirty seven cases were selected and analyzed statistically. The patients received surgical treatment at our hospital between December 2005 and March 2008. All of them had complete follow-up data. The survival rates were calculated by univariate analysis using the Kaplan-Meier method and tested by Log-rank. ${\chi}^2$ or Fisher exact tests were carried out for the numeration data. The significant indexes after univariate analysis were then analyzed by multivariate analysis using COX regression model. Based on the literature, factors of gender, age, disease course, tumor location, Enneking grades, surgical approaches, distant metastasis and local recurrence were examined. Results: Univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in Enneking grades, surgical approaches and distant metastasis related to the patients' 3-year survival rate after surgery (P<0.001). No significant difference was not found in gender, age, disease course, tumor location or local recurrence (P>0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that Enneking grade (P=0.007) and surgical approaches (P=0.010) were independent factors affecting the prognosis of chondrosarcoma, but distant metastasis was not (P=0.942). Conclusion: Enneking grades, surgical approaches and distant metastasis are risk factors for prognosis of chondrosarcoma, among which the former two are independent factors.

Enhanced Phase Relaxation in a Hybrid Ferromagnet/Semiconductor System

        Kuang Yao Chen,Chun-Kai Yang,N. Aoki,Y. Ochiai,Y. Ujiie,K. A. Cheng,Li-Hung Lin,C. F. Huang,Yu-Ru Li,Yen Shung Tseng,Po-Tsun Lin,Jau-Yang Wu,Sheng-Di Lin,C.-T. Liang 한국물리학회 2009 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.55 No.1

Hybrid ferromagnet/semiconductor systems have been the focus of considerable attention because of the transport properties of two-dimensional electron systems and their potential applications to magnetic storage and sensing devices. We use the weak localization effect to probe the dephasing mechanism at low temperatures. In our study, the zero-temperature phase-relaxation rate can be enhanced in a hybrid ferromagnet/semiconductor system, which may be due to the inhomogeneous magnetic field emanating from the Ni film. The result may improve understanding of the issue of zero-temperature dephasing in disordered systems. The TOP-SCOPE Survey of Planck Galactic Cold Clumps: Survey Overview and Results of an Exemplar Source, PGCC G26.53+0.17

        Liu, Tie,Kim, Kee-Tae,Juvela, Mika,Wang, Ke,Tatematsu, Ken’ichi,Francesco, James Di,Liu, Sheng-Yuan,Wu, Yuefang,Thompson, Mark,Fuller, Gary,Eden, David,Li, Di,Ristorcelli, I.,Kang, Sung-ju,Lin, Yuxin Published by the University of Chicago Press for t 2018 The Astrophysical journal Supplement series Vol.234 No.2

The low dust temperatures (< 14 K) of Planck Galactic cold clumps (PGCCs) make them ideal targets to probe the initial conditions and very early phase of star formation. 'TOP-SCOPE' is a joint survey program targeting similar to 2000 PGCCs in J = 1-0 transitions of CO isotopologues and similar to 1000 PGCCs in 850 mu m continuum emission. The objective of the 'TOP-SCOPE' survey and the joint surveys (SMT 10 m, KVN 21 m, and NRO 45 m) is to statistically study the initial conditions occurring during star formation and the evolution of molecular clouds, across a wide range of environments. The observations, data analysis, and example science cases for these surveys are introduced with an exemplar source, PGCC G26.53+0.17 (G26), which is a filamentary infrared dark cloud (IRDC). The total mass, length, and mean line mass (M/L) of the G26 filament are similar to 6200 M-circle dot, similar to 12 pc, and similar to 500 M-circle dot pc(-1), respectively. Ten massive clumps, including eight starless ones, are found along the filament. The most massive clump as a whole may still be in global collapse, while its denser part seems to be undergoing expansion owing to outflow feedback. The fragmentation in the G26 filament from cloud scale to clump scale is in agreement with gravitational fragmentation of an isothermal, nonmagnetized, and turbulent supported cylinder. A bimodal behavior in dust emissivity spectral index (beta) distribution is found in G26, suggesting grain growth along the filament. The G26 filament may be formed owing to large-scale compression flows evidenced by the temperature and velocity gradients across its natal cloud.
