Weak compressibility effects on the pressure fluctuation at RSI in a high-speed centrifugal pump

This study presents large eddy simulation of high-speed centrifugal pump at approximate quarter load (0.23 Q d ) and design load (Q d ) conditions. Two liquid models, including weak compressible and incompressible assumptions, are considered to investigate the weak compressibility effects (WCE) on the pressure fluctuation at rotor-stator interaction (RSI). Researches show that the performance is slightly increased by the WCE at both the flow rates, which deviate from the experimental data within 5 %. There is a phase deviation between the pressure fluctuation of the two assumptions. The amplitudes of pressure fluctuation and pressure spectra are affected by the WCE, especially in the guide vane channel far away from the tongue. The first and second frequencies of pressure spectra are 12 and 6 times the rotation frequency, respectively, which are insensitive to the WCE. The influence of WCE on the pressure fluctuation and pressure spectra is significant at 0.23 Q d and gradually weakened at Q d .

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are one of the main cellular components in the tumor microenvironment (TME). In many types of solid tumors, TAMs tend to accumulate in hypoxic areas and are intimately related to poor patient prognosis. However, the underlying mechanisms by which TAMs infiltrate hypoxic tumor regions remain unclear. In this study, we report that genetic deletion of SE translocation (SET) in myeloid cells inhibited the entry of TAMs into the hypoxic tumor region and abated their proangiogenic and immunosuppressive functions, ultimately inhibiting tumor growth. Mechanistically, in response to hypoxic tumor supernatant stimulation, SET in macrophages shuttled between the nucleus and cytoplasm via the PKC-CK2α signaling axis. Cytoplasmic retention of SET increased ERK and P38 signaling by inhibiting PP2A, which promoted TAM migration into the hypoxic area and polarization toward the M2 phenotype. Therefore, we conclude that SET modulates tumor immunity by acting as a key regulator of macrophage positioning and function in the tumor.

To investigate the efect of gas dispersing carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and hot pressing method on the transparency and the conductivity of thin flms, the free arc was used to disperse the CNTs in a high dispersion rate, and the dispersed CNTs were rapidly pressed into the surface of the PET flm by hot pressing to obtain electrical conductivity. The relationship between the light transmission and sheet resistance of the flm was studied by changing the deposition time and the presence or absence of electrostatic adsorption. It was found that the CNTs modifed flm still retains good electrical conductivity (sheet resistance up to 6×104 Ω, light transmittance 69%) through the cleaning of surfactants and ultrasonic waves, which proves that hot pressing is a simple physical method to achieve efective combination of CNTs and flms.

On the basis of the weakly compressible assumption, large-eddy simulation of a high-speed centrifugal pump is performed at a rotational speed of 9685 r/min and flow rate of approximately quarter load (0.23 Qd). Three cryogenic media, namely, liquid methane (MM), liquid nitrogen (MN), and liquid oxygen (MO), are used. Results show that many of the internal flow characteristics derived and validated for normal-temperature water still hold for cryogenic media. Pump efficiency, maximum density deviation, and total entropy generation rate increase with the increase in the reference density. The dominant frequencies of the pressure spectrum are 12 and 6 times the rotation frequency and insensitive to the cryogenic media. The average amplitude of the first-order dominant frequency between MN and MO deviates from that of MM by approximately 10 %. The maximum deviations of the average amplitudes of second-order dominant and axial frequencies are 34.9 % and 32.3 %, respectively. The variation in standard deviation exceeds 40 % for all cryogenic media.

Background Several studies have demonstrated that circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) can be used to predict the postoperative recurrence of several cancers. However, there are few studies on the use of ctDNA as a prognosis tool for gastric cancer (GC) patients. Objective This study aims to determine whether ctDNA could be used as a prognostic biomarker in GC patients through multigene-panel sequencing. Methods Using next-generation sequencing (NGS) Multigene Panels, the mutational signatures associated with the prognosis of GC patients were identified. We calculated the survival probability with Kaplan–Meier and used the Log-rank test to compare survival curves between ctDNA-positive and ctDNA-negative groups. Potential application of radiology combined with tumor plasma biomarker analysis of ctDNA in GC patients was carried out. Results Disease progression is more likely in ctDNA-positive patients as characterized clinically by a generally higher T stage and a poorer therapeutic response (P < 0.05). ctDNA-positive patients also had worse overall-survival (OS: P = 0.203) and progression-free survival (PFS: P = 0.037). The combined analysis of ctDNA, radiological, and serum biomarkers in four patients indicated that ctDNA monitoring can be a good complement to radiological and plasma tumor markers for GC patients. Kaplan–Meier analysis using a cohort of GC patients in the TCGA database showed that patients with CBLB mutations had shorter OS and PFS than wild-type patients (OS: P = 0.0036; PFS: P = 0.0027). Conclusions This study confirmed the utility and feasibility of ctDNA in the prognosis monitoring of gastric cancer.
