Amyloidosis is a disease resulting in deposition of amyloid in the body. The disease can be either primary or secondary. The amyloidosis of urinary bladder is more usually affected by primary amyloidosis and also very rare. The patient with primary amyloidosis of the bladder usually presents with gross hematuria. The amyloidosis resembles bladder cancer in cystoscopy. It can be confirmed by biopsy. The treatment consists of medication (e.g., steroid, antitumor agent, cholchicine, DMSO) and/or transurethral resection. The standard treatment is mephalan and prednisolone. A 49-year-old man complained of recently developed gross hematuria without abdominal pain. We examined urinary bladder cystoscope for gross hematuria. It revealed small bulging mass on trigone are a of bladder. Therefore we did bladder biopsy. Finally, it revealed bladder amyloidosis. The patient was improved by medication (mephalan 2mg and prednisolone 1 mg/kg po daily). We report an unusual case of amyloidosis involving bladder.

Cadmium resistance in tobacco plants expressing the MuSI gene

MuSI, a gene that corresponds to a domain that contains the rubber elongation factor (REF), is highly homologous to many stress-related proteins in plants. Since MuSI is up-regulated in the roots of plants treated with cadmium or copper, the involvement of MuSI in cadmium tolerance was investigated in this study. Escherichia coli cells overexpressing MuSI were more resistant to Cd than wild-type cells transfected with vector alone. MuSI transgenic plants were also more resistant to Cd. MuSI transgenic tobacco plants absorbed less Cd than wild-type plants. Cd translocation from roots to shoots was reduced in the transgenic plants, thereby avoiding Cd toxicity. The number of short trichomes in the leaves of wild-type tobacco plants was increased by Cd treatment, while this was unchanged in MuSI transgenic tobacco. These results suggest that MuSI transgenic tobacco plants have enhanced tolerance to Cd via reduced Cd uptake and/or increased Cd immobilization in the roots, resulting in less Cd translocation to the shoots.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Herein, the effect of material structure on photocatalytic activity in the decomposition of nocuous organic gases (1,3,5-trimethylbenzene (TMB) and o-xylene (XYL)) was investigated by synthesizing tricomposite photocatalysts of N-doped carbon quantum dots, ZnFe<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB>, and BiOBr (NCQDs/ZFO/BOB) with different junctions. The NCQDs/ZFO/BOB material (NCQDs/ZFO/BOB1) synthesized using a one-pot method revealed the highest photocatalytic efficiency. The NCQDs in NCQDs/ZFO/BOB1 exhibited photoluminescence property that expanded the photo-absorption nature and acted as a mediator to enhance the Z-scheme charge transfer between ZFO and BOB. The photocatalytic activity exhibited by NCQDs/ZFO/BOB1 was higher than that exhibited by the selected reference materials (CQDs/ZFO/BOB, NCQDs/BOB, ZFO/BOB, BOB, NCQDs/ZFO, and ZFO). Results showed that the decomposition efficiencies of TMB and XYL in the presence of NCQDs/ZFO/BOB1 under specified operational conditions were 94.5% and 72.5%, respectively. Moreover, the synthesized NCQDs/ZFO/BOB photocatalysts displayed excellent stability. Herein, the conversion ratios of TMB and XYL into CO<SUB>2</SUB> with NCQDs/ZFO/BOB1 and the intermediates formed during photocatalysis were assessed. Furthermore, a potential mechanism for the NCQDs/ZFO/BOB1-catalyzed organic gas decomposition was proposed. The hybridization access introduced herein thus provides a method for the intelligent synthesis of a new type of multicomponent nanocomposites for environmental remediation.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Trinanocomposites of NCQDs, ZFO, and BOB with different junctions were developed. </LI> <LI> Sample featured by high charge separation and photoabsorption showed highest activity. </LI> <LI> Tricomposites outperformed counterpart catalysts in photocatalysis of organic vapors. </LI> <LI> Accelerating charge transfer between ZFO and BOB via NCQDs affords a photostability. </LI> <LI> Intermediate formation and CO<SUB>2</SUB> conversion for organic vapor decomposition were probed. </LI> </UL> </P>

The solid-phase extraction (SPF) with subsequent tert-butyldimethylsilyl (TBDMS) derivatization was investigated for the rapid profiling and screening of various carboxylated non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) simultaneously in biological fluid samples. Compared to the conventional SPF in adsorption mode using Chromosorb 102, Chromosorb 107, Carbopak B and Thermosorb, the SPF in partition mode using Chromosorb P as the adsorbent, and ethyl acetate/methylene chloride as the eluting solvents provided hightest overall recovenies of the NSAIDs from aqueous solutions with good precision. The solid-phase extracted NASIDs were silylated with N-methyl-N-(tert-butyldimethylsily)trifuoroacetamide to TBDMS derivatives and directly analyzed by capillary gas chromatography and gs chromatography-mass spectrometry. The usefulness of the present method was examined for the profilling and screening of saliva, serum and urine samples for various NSAIDs simultaneously.

The marine transportation for the refinery would not only be able to handle considerably a large volume of cargo by a trip, but also cost less than other means of transportation. And the marine transportation may be an easy way of setting up its transportation planning in wide range of aspects. Because of these merits, the weight of the marine transportation the refinery relies on is growing bigger and bigger. The source of the marine transportation for the refinery is the vessel and thus it consists in the vessel routing problem. The characteristics of the vessel routing problem is that the marine transportation can effect many times trips of voyage, if required, with plural numbers of tanker vessels in various capacities, to meet a given requirement of transportation for a planning horizon. This transportation system resembles the transportation routing: problem in some aspect, but quite differs in the assumptions of the system required for setting up a mathematical model. Thus the establishment of mathematical model for this transportation system remains very complicated problem. The aim of this study is to seek a technical method to reach its mathematica1 solution, by reviewing an analysing the general transportation problem, the assignment problem and the by transportation routing problem to convert into the network problem and utilizing Out-of kilter A1gorithm, in order to solve the vessel routing problem for the refinery through a mathematical process. The technical method for solving the vessel routing problem for the refinery this, study developed is deemed as a fully serviceable technique which can reduce computational complexity.
