Iris Recognition Based on a Shift-Invariant Wavelet Transform
Cho, Seongwon,Kim, Jaemin Korean Institute of Intelligent Systems 2004 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of FUZZY LOGIC and INTELLIGE Vol.4 No.3
This paper describes a new iris recognition method based on a shift-invariant wavelet sub-images. For the feature representation, we first preprocess an iris image for the compensation of the variation of the iris and for the easy implementation of the wavelet transform. Then, we decompose the preprocessed iris image into multiple subband images using a shift-invariant wavelet transform. For feature representation, we select a set of subband images, which have rich information for the classification of various iris patterns and robust to noises. In order to reduce the size of the feature vector, we quantize. each pixel of subband images using the Lloyd-Max quantization method Each feature element is represented by one of quantization levels, and a set of these feature element is the feature vector. When the quantization is very coarse, the quantized level does not have much information about the image pixel value. Therefore, we define a new similarity measure based on mutual information between two features. With this similarity measure, the size of the feature vector can be reduced without much degradation of performance. Experimentally, we show that the proposed method produced superb performance in iris recognition.

Fuzzy Power Factor Control Systems
Seongwon Cho,Jaemin Kim,Jaeyoon Jung,Cheolsu Lim 한국지능시스템학회 2004 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of FUZZY LOGIC and INTELLIGE Vol.4 No.1
A method for obtaining the power energy with high quality is to keep the power factor for a load as close to unity as feasible. In this paper, we present a new method to improve the power factor for a load. The proposed method uses fuzzy control techniques in order to determine how many parallel capacitors are to be connected to the load for the correction of the power factor.

Users of smartphone-based Instant Messenger such as Whatsapp, wechet, LINE and KAKAO TALK are rapidly increasing. LINE acquired more than 50 million members by December 2012 just 1 year after its release, and as of April 2014, the number of LINE mobile instant messenger users was 400 million Users. Given the rarity of research on the use of instant messengers in smartphones, this study analyzed factors affecting user satisfaction by conducting a survey on 220 users of mobile instant messengers in smartphones. The survey results showed that self-disclosure, flow, and social presence significantly affected user satisfaction. This study will benefit researchers and contribute to industries that possess interest in factors affecting user satisfaction regarding the use of smartphone applications and mobile messengers.

In Gaya archaeology, Hard earthenware was regarded as one of the evidence of symbolic material culture that marked the beginning of the Three Kingdoms period. This can be seen from the study of earthenware culture in which the earthenware form of all Gaya was active in setting up as well as looking for the territorial changes. However, the historical significance of the pottery culture and its transformation must be preceded by a review of distribution methods in various meanings along with the process of production. As a prior work for this purpose, it would be tried to trace the changes in the production system and distribution of Gaya Hard earthenware from the 3rd to 6th centuries. Based on the existing research results, it could be seen that they were going through the following process that the appearance of Hard earthenware in the Nakdong River area(First phase of the Old type of Hard earthenware), production and distribution centered on Haman(Second phase), expansion of the culture of Hard earthenware throughout Yeongnam(Third phase), formation of regional production system and distribution(First stage of local style) and integration of small area production system and expansion of distribution network(Second stage). These changes in production systems and distribution are related to political issues as well as previous research results. But it can be thought of as being decided by various factors, such as the human networks and the nature of craft groups.
