Emotional Intensity-based Facial Expression Cloning for Low Polygonal Applications

<P>People instinctively recognize facial expression as a key to nonverbal communication, which has been confirmed by many different research projects. A change in intensity or magnitude of even one specific facial expression can cause different interpretations. A systematic method for generating facial expression syntheses, while mimicking realistic facial expressions and intensities, is a strong need in various applications. Although manually produced animation is typically of high quality, the process is slow and costly-therefore, often unrealistic for low polygonal applications. In this paper, we present a simple and efficient emotional-intensity-based expression cloning process for low-polygonal-based applications, by generating a customized face, as well as by cloning facial expressions. We define intensity mappings to measure expression intensity. Once a source expression is determined by a set of suitable parameter values in a customized 3D face and its embedded muscles, expressions for any target face(s) can be easily cloned by using the same set of parameters. Through experimental study, including facial expression simulation and cloning with intensity mapping, our research reconfirms traditional psychological findings. Additionally, we discuss the method's overall usability and how it allows us to automatically adjust a customized face with embedded facial muscles while mimicking the user's facial configuration, expression, and intensity.</P>
Locating Text in Web Images Using Image Based Approaches

본 논문은 다양한 웹 이미지로부터 문자영역(text block)의 위치를 알아내고 문자영역을 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 인터넷 사용자관점에서 볼 때, 웹 이미지에 포함되어 있는 문자정보는 중요한 정보이지만 최근까지 이 분야의 연구는 그리 활발하지 못했다. 본 연구에서 제안된 알고리즘은 문자의 경사방향(skew)과 문자의 크기나 폰트에 관한 사전 정보 없이 수행되어 질 수 있도록 제안되었다 폰트 스타일과 크기에 제약되지 않고 문자영역을 적합하게 추출하기 위해 유용한 에지 검출, 문자 클러스터링 영역으로 정의되는 문자의 고유한 특성을 위한 히스토그램을 사용하였다. 다수의 실험을 통하여 제안된 방법을 테스트하고 수용할 만한 결과를 도출했다. A locating text technique capable of locating and extracting text blocks in various Web images is presented here. Until now this area of work has been ignored by researchers even if this sort of text may be meaningful for internet users. The algorithms associated with the technique work without prior knowledge of the text orientation, size or font. In the work presented in this research, our text extraction algorithm utilizes useful edge detection followed by histogram analysis on the genuine characteristics of letters defined by text clustering region, to properly perform extraction of the text region that does not depend on font styles and sizes. By a number of experiments we have showed impressively acceptable results.

In the work presented here, we describe a method to extract TrueType features for supporting letter recognition. Even if variously existing document processing techniques have been challenged, almost few methods are capable of recognize a letter associated with its TrueType features supporting OCR free, which boost up fast processing time for image text retrieval. By reviewing the mechanism generating digital fonts and birth of TrueType, we realize that each TrueType is drawn by its contour of the glyph table. Hence, we are capable of deriving the segment with density for a letter with a specific TrueType, defined by the number of occurrence over a segment width. A certain number of occurrence appears frequently often due to the fixed segment width. We utilize letter recognition by comparing TrueType feature library of a letter with that from input word images. Experiments have been carried out to justify robustness of the proposed method showing acceptable results.
Measurement of Construction BIM Value Based on a Case Study of a Large-Scale Building Project

<P>This study proposes a quantitative measurement method for the value of building information modeling (BIM) implementation during the construction phase of a large-scale building project. From the case project, 472 value-assignable BIM issues were derived, and they were quantified regarding various aspects, such as the BIM utilization value and BIM contribution value, using a contract budget (CB). It was found that BIM has contributed to identifying and/or resolving issues whose contractual values are as much as 15.92% of the total direct cost of the project. In addition, a survey of trade contractors was conducted to determine how much they think BIM has contributed to their works, which is defined as the BIM sensible value. It was also shown that the higher utilization and contribution of BIM were accompanied by a higher sensible value, which trade contractors experienced regarding the cost reduction and construction period acceleration. An Efficient Method of Scanning and Tracking for AR

In this paper, we propose an efficient method for AR toolkit Vuforia. In order to increase the scan rate when using the 3D object scanner, the scan rate parameters need to be analyzed in terms of the angle and distance. In addition, in order to increase the tracking rate when tracking an object, the tracking rate has to be evaluated according to the position, complexity, and contrast of the object. To this end, we have defined the difference of scan rate according to angle and distance between camera and object when using object scanner and the recognition time according to object's position, complexity and contrast when tracking object.
