Animal experiments are essential to the study of animal nutrition. Because of the large variations among individual animals and ethical and economic constraints, experimental designs and statistical analyses are particularly important in animal experiments. To increase the scientific validity of the results and maximize the knowledge gained from animal experiments, each experiment should be appropriately designed, and the observations need to be correctly analyzed and transparently reported. There are many experimental designs and statistical methods. This editorial does not aim to review and present particular experimental designs and statistical methods. Instead, we discuss some essential elements when designing an animal experiment and conducting statistical analyses in animal nutritional studies and provide guidelines for submitting a manuscript to the Asian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences for consideration for publication.

<P>We prepared a water-soluble conjugated polymer composed of electron-donating units and electron-accepting groups in the backbone. The polymer exhibits a short wavelength (blue) emission in aqueous solution and long wavelength (red) emission in the solid state, because of intermolecular energy transfer. Considering this, we develop a new approach for the sensitive detection of trypsin, which is known to control pancreatic exocrine function, using an ensemble system composed of the anionically charged conjugated polymer and cationically charged polypeptides (such as polylysine and polyarginine). The blue-emitting, water-soluble conjugated polymer becomes aggregated upon exposure to the polypeptides, leading to a red-emitting assay ensemble. The red-emitting assay ensemble becomes dissociated in the conjugated polymer and polypeptide fragments by selective degradation of trypsin, which then exhibits recovery of blue emission. This emission-tuning assay ensemble allows for detection of trypsin at nanomolar concentrations, which enables naked-eye detection. 사거리 등에 설치된 교통 카메라는 도로상에 이동하는 차량과 사람에 대한 모든 정보를 영상으로 포함하고 있으며, 도시의 도처에 설치된 카메라로부터 수집되는 다양한 정보들이 안전한 도시를 위해 중요한 교통정보 인프라의 역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 인력에 의해 모든 정보를 계속적으로 감시하는 한계가 있으며, 다양한 복합적 이상 상황을 파악하는 것은 불가능하였다. 최근 기술의 발전으로 교통 카메라 모니터링 시스템들이 딥러닝 기반의 영상 인식 기술들과 결합하기 위해 다양한 연구가 시도되고 있다. 이 논문은 딥러닝 기반의 교통 영상 분석과 시간 통계 분석 가시화 방안을 제안하고 있다. 교통 카메라에서 수집되는 영상을 딥러닝 기술을 이용하여 인식하고, 이 인식한 정보들을 시간상에서 통계적으로 가시화 함으로서 교통정보 관련 의사결정권자가 일반적인 딥러닝 인식 모니터링 시스템에서 파악할 수 없는 다양한 정보를 분석할 수 있다는 점에서 다른 시스템과 차별성이 있다.
Carbon monoxide poisoning-induced encephalopathy in a carbon dioxide arc welder: a case report

Background: It is widely known that carbon dioxide (CO₂) arc welding generates carbon monoxide (CO). However, to the best of our knowledge, no case reports have been published regarding CO poisoning in CO₂ arc welders. Therefore, we aimed to report a case of CO poisoning-induced encephalopathy in a CO₂ arc welder in the Republic of Korea to inform about the dangers of CO exposure among CO₂arc welders. Case presentation: A 40-year-old man working as a CO₂ arc welder for 15 years visited a local hospital with a tremor, involuntary urination, and speaking gibberish, on April 9, 2019. He stated that he had intermittent headache and forgetting symptoms for the last 5 years, and had been lost on the way to work several times. On April 9, 2019, he was diagnosed with CO poisoning-induced encephalopathy through brain magnetic resonance imaging. He received hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and some of his symptoms improved. According to the exposure assessment of his work environment, he was continuously exposed to high concentrations of CO for 15 years while operating CO₂ arc welding machines. Conclusions: After evaluating the patient’s work environment and evaluating his medical history, we concluded that his encephalopathy was caused by CO exposure during CO₂ arc welding. Thus CO₂ arc welders must be aware of the risk of CO poisoning and strive to avoid CO exposure.

The purpose of this study is to develop a one-to-one tutoring program and apply it to the field so that students studying Korean online can continue their studies without interruption of Korean language use after the end of the semester. The purpose of this study was to examine the difference between perceptions of tutees and tutors participating in the tutoring program. Through this study, we confirmed that the real - time Korean language tutoring program for Korean learners, outside of the regular curriculum, effectively increased the satisfaction of learners, maintained Korean learning motivation, and increased interest in learning strategies. The tutoring of the preliminary Korean teachers provided the sense of stability of ‘teacher and friend’ to the beginner learners, and it provided the tutor with real Korean education experience and showed high mutual satisfaction. Also, in regards to the learner’s Korean language grade, it was confirmed that the satisfaction level of the upper group was higher than that of the lower group. In the future, it will be necessary to consider different ways to design a tutoring program in consideration of the tutees’ Korean language grades and positive drive on their learning attitude. In addition, it is necessary to supplement the procedures for preparation and use of tutoring materials for the tutor, a prospective Korean teacher. (Kyunghee Cyber University)
