The development of reliable methods to diagnose acute kidney injury is essential to allow the adoption of early therapeutic interventions and evaluate their effectiveness. Based on the fact that kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) expression levels in kidneys are markedly upregulated early after a damage event, here we developed a noninvasive KIM- 1-based molecular imaging technique to detect kidney injury. First, we took advantage of a phage-display platform to select small peptides demonstrating a specific high binding affinity to KIM-1. The promising candidate was conjugated with fluorescent probes, and its imaging potential was validated in vitro and in vivo. This peptide, with the sequence CNRRRA, not only showed a high imaging potential in vitro, allowing a strong detection of KIM-1 expressing cells by microscopy and flow cytometry but also generated a strong kidney-specific signal in live-imaging in vivo experiments in the context of a drug-induced kidney-injury mouse model. Our data overall suggest that the CNRRRA peptide is a promising probe to use in the context of in vivo imaging for the detection of KIM-1 overexpression in damaged kidneys.

Transparent conductive films have been widely studied because of their potential applications in optoelectronic devices such as paper displays, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), organic lightingemitting diodes (OLEDs), organic solar cells and so on. In this paper, we report on a low-resistance, a high-transparents conductive film that can be applied as It a flexible device substrate. In order to the fabricate transparent conductive film, we used a high-resolution roll imprinting method. The following steps were performed: The design and manufacture of an electroforming stamp mold, the fabrication of high resolution roll imprinted on flexible film, and the manufacture of an Ag grid that was filled by using a doctor blade process with a nano-sized Ag paste. Then on patterned Its films, antimony tin oxide was coated with ATO sol solution by using bar the coating method. The fabricated ATO/Ag mesh electrode showed good flexibility, and It exhibited a high optical transmittance of 85.3% in the visible wavelength and a sheet resistance of 41 /sq. Furthermore, the bending test for mechanical properties showed that the ATO/Ag thin film had good flexibility.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there are any age-related differences in impact characteristics during running between healthy older and younger men. Ten healthy older (age: 58.7 ± 2.5 years) male and ten healthy younger (age: 22.3 ± 1.6 years) male recreational runners ran on a treadmill at three different running speeds (i.e. 2.2 m/s, 2.8 m/s, and 3.2 m/s). Tri-axial accelerometers (Noraxon, USA) were firmly attached to the tibia and the sternum. Gait parameters, three-dimensional peak tibial accelerations, peak sternum accelerations and shock attenuation were calculated during the stance phase of running. The ANOVA repeated measures was applied at an alpha level of .05. Older runners showed greater impact on the sternum, leading to reduced shock attenuation compared with younger runners (p < .05). In addition, older runners showed a shorter lag between peak resultant accelerations experienced by the upper body and peak acceleration experienced by the lower leg compared with younger runners (p < .05). This study suggests that the intensity (i.e. speed and duration) and types of exercise should be carefully considered for older adults because of lower shock attenuation of the body and changes in coordination strategy between the segments in high-impact activities like running.

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the nutrient composition, in vitro dry matter disappearance (IVDMD) and organic matter disappearance (IVOMD) of three kinds of distillers grains (DG); i) wet distillers grains (WDG, KRW 25/kg), ii) dried distillers grains (DDG, KRW 280/kg), iii) dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS, KRW 270/kg) produced from tapioca 70% and rice 30%, and to evaluate dietary effects of WDG on the performance of Hanwoo steers. In Exp. 1, twelve-WDG, four-DDG and one-DDGS were collected from seven ethanol plants. Average crude protein, crude fiber, neutral detergent fiber, and acid detergent fiber of WDG, DDG, and DDGS were: 32.6%, 17.8%, 57.5%, and 30.2% for WDG, 36.7%, 13.9%, 51.4%, and 30.5% for DDG, and 31.0%, 11.9%, 40.3%, and 21.2% for DDGS (DM basis), respectively. The DDGS had a higher quantity of water-soluble fraction than WDG and DDG and showed the highest IVDMD (p<0.05) in comparison to others during the whole experimental time. The IVDMD at 0 to 12 h incubation were higher (p<0.05) in DDG than WDG, but did not show significant differences from 24 to 72 h. The same tendency was observed in IVOMD, showing that DG made from tapioca and rice (7:3) can be used as a feed ingredient for ruminants. Considering the price, WDG is a more useful feed ingredient than DDG and DDGS. In Exp. 2, 36 Hanwoo steers of 21 months ($495.1{\pm}91kg$) were randomly assigned to one of three dietary treatments for 85 days; i) Control (total mixed ration, TMR), ii) WDG 10% (TMR containing 10% of WDG, as fed basis), and iii) WDG 20% (TMR containing 20% of WDG, as fed basis). With respect to body weight and average daily gain, there were no differences between control and WDG treatments during the whole experimental period. Dry matter intake of control (9.34 kg), WDG 10% (9.21 kg) and 20% (8.86 kg) and feed conversion ratio of control (13.0), WDG 10% (13.2) and 20% (12.1) did not show differences between control and WDG treatments. Thus, the use of WDG up to 20% in TMR did not show any negative effect on the performance of Hanwoo steers.

Anthocyanin pigments from three pigmented rice varieties, Hongjinju, Sintoheugmi and Josaengheugchal pigmented by black color, were quantified to evaluate effects of transplanting and harvesting time during seed development. Hongjinju, a rice variety of grains pigmented by red color, contains only two kinds of anthocyanins, delphinidin and cyanidin. Meanwhile, delphinidin, cyanidin, and pelargonidin were identified in Sintoheugmi and Josaengheugchal. Anthocyanidin contents in pigmented rice variety Hongjinju under different planting times were decreased with prolonged harvesting times. The Sintoheukmi showed that cyanidin content was the highest among analyzed pigments during seed development. Two anthocyanins (cyanidin and pelargonidin) in Josaengheugchal recorded highest contents at 20 days after heading in three transplanting times. Cyanidin content was also slightly increased with prolonged transplanting time. Total anthocyanidin contents in Hongjinju were always lower than that of Sintoheukmi and Josaengheukchal. In two rice varieties, Sintoheugmi and Josaengheugchal, a* values were commonly slightly decreased by late transplanting and harvesting times. Changes of a* and b* values in waxy rice varieties, Sintoheugmi and Josaengheugchal varied more than those in Hongjinju. In Josaengheugchal, early harvesting before maturity showed lower brown rice yield and late harvesting in the each transplanting times resulted in highest brown rice yield.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In an offshore platform, many modules and equipment are placed on the limited space called topside, so that the space should be used efficiently. Furthermore, a sufficient space between equipment should be provided for the operability, maintainability, and safety. To guarantee suitable arrangement design, there are many requirements to be considered such as international codes and standards, including owners’ own requirements. Meanwhile, the arrangement design of an offshore topside tends to rely on experts’ knowledge and experiences. Due to the heavy dependence on experts’ knowledge and experiences, consequently, a different arrangement can be derived according to a personal disposition, in spite of the same requirements. In addition, an unacceptable arrangement can be derived due to the omission of some requirements by a designer. To solve such problems, an expert system for the arrangement design of an offshore topside was proposed based on an arrangement evaluation model (AEM) in this study by expanding the previous study of authors for the arrangement design of a submarine. In addition, an arrangement template model (ATM) was proposed to store various data on the arrangement design of the offshore topside. To evaluate the applicability of the proposed expert system, a prototype program consisting of the AEM and the ATM was also developed here. Finally, this program was applied to a problem of a large FPSO topside. The results showed that the proposed system can be used to evaluate the given alternatives for the arrangement design of the offshore topside.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> An expert system for the arrangement design of an offshore topside is proposed. </LI> <LI> The proposed expert system is based on the arrangement evaluation model. </LI> <LI> We develop a prototype program based on the expert system. </LI> <LI> We apply the program to a problem of an FPSO topside. </LI> </UL> </P>
