Difference between Kim Munjip’s Mark Criticism and Ch’oe Chaeso’s ‘Realism’ on Yi Sang’s “Wings”

        ( Shim Sang-wook ),( Park Kyoon-cheol ) 한국일본어문학회 2016 日本語文學 Vol.68 No.-

This article is to examine difference between Kim Munjip’s mark criticism and Ch’oe Chaeso’s realism on Yi Sang’s “Wings.” Yi wrote a novel related to his fellow Kim Youjeong as “A Novel Kim You Jeong” as a posthumous work in Chungsaekgi(1939). In the work he exposures Kim Munjip, Korean-Japanese critic, as ‘a critic without genealogical table’, after knowing Kim announced "Wings" as failed work in Tokyo literary community. In fact “Wings” was appreciated ‘well written work with realistic technique’ by Ch’oe Chaeo in Korea. By the way Kim Munjip made it the score 59 point below 60 point passing score by his mark criticism. Since each critic’s critical view is different, first of all, critics must have prudential and discreet on adjusting critical theory. What we can know here is Kim’s analysis of “Wings” is too narrow marked score according to his mark criticism, because his critical view is connected with Japan’s ideology and his submission to Japan’s rule, and after all he became a Korean-Japanese.

Vol.29 No.2

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the falls on the center of pressure (CoP) complexity during gait using non-linear approximate entropy (ApEn). Method: 20 elderly women with experience of falling ($age=72.55{\pm}5.42yrs$; $height=154.40{\pm}4.26cm$; $body\;weight=57.40{\pm}6.21kg$; $preferred\;gait\;speed=0.52{\pm}0.17m/s$) and 20 elderly women with no experience of falling ($age=71.90{\pm}2.90yrs$; $height=155.28{\pm}4.73cm$; $body\;weight=56.70{\pm}5.241kg$; $preferred\;gait\;speed=0.56{\pm}0.13m/s$) were recruited for the study. While they were walking at their preferred gait speed on a treadmill (instrumented dual belt treadmills, Bertec, USA) with a force plate CoP data were collected for the 20 strides. The complexity of the CoP was analyzed using the ApEn technique. Results: The ApEn of the medial-lateral CoP in the fallers showed smaller about 16% compared to the non-fallers (p<.05). The ApEn of the antero-posterior CoP of the fallers showed smaller about 12% compared to the non-fallers, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the reduction of the medio-lateral CoP complexity in the elderly gait would be an index to determine the potential fall.

Strategies for Oral Delivery of Macromolecule Drugs

        Park, Jin-Woo,Kim, Sang-Kyoon,Al-Hilal, Taslim Ahmed,Jeon, Ok-Cheol,Moon, Hyun-Tae,Byun, Young-Ro 한국생물공학회 2010 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.15 No.1

Advances in biotechnology, gene manipulation, and protein engineering for macromolecule drugs, such as insulin, parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcitonin, human growth hormone, erythropoietin (EPO), and peptide YY (PYY) allow commercial production in large scale for diverse therapeutic uses. Other macromolecules, such as mucopolysaccharide heparin, have expanded markets through improvements in their pharmacokinetic and pharmacological effects. However, most products are available only as injectable forms and are limited to patients with no alternative therapeutic choices. Orally available macromolecule formulations are still unmet needs for improving patient compliance and expanding administration paradigms and indications. Oral delivery technologies including carrier systems, absorption enhancers, protease inhibitors, and modification by conjugating transporter or receptor recognition molecules have been developed and some are undergoing clinical studies. In this review, we discuss major obstacles for oral absorption of macromolecule drugs and summarize recent strategies to overcome the huddles related to enhancing intestinal permeation.

Gallbladder paraganglioma with hemorrhage: A case report and literature review

        Sang Hwa Song,Chol Kyoon Cho,Eun Kyu Park,Hee Joon Kim,Young Hoe Hur,Yang Seok Koh,Yun Ho Lee 한국간담췌외과학회 2021 Annals of hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery Vol.25 No.4

Gallbladder paraganglioma (GP) is a rare tumor, with only 12 cases reported in the literature to date. Due to its rarity, clinical information of GP is insufficient. We present a case of GP in a 48-year-old female along with a literature review of all GP cases described to date. A 48-year-old female presented with intermittent right upper abdominal pain. Preoperative imaging revealed a hematoma in the gallbladder lumen without any definite etiology. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed. Gross examination of the gallbladder revealed multiple small stones and a large hematoma as well as a 1.6-cm-sized polypoid mass at the gallbladder fundus. Microscopic study of the polypoid mass showed a zellballen appearance. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that the mass was positive for synaptophysin, CD56, and chromogranin, suggesting GP. GP is difficult to diagnose because of non-specific clinical findings. Almost all GP cases are diagnosed based on histologic findings after cholecystectomy. Simple cholecystectomy was performed as a treatment in all reported cases of GP, including our case. There was no postoperative tumor recurrence or metastasis after surgery.

Influence of urban form on the cooling effect of a small urban river

Park, Chae Yeon,Lee, Dong Kun,Asawa, Takashi,Murakami, Akinobu,Kim, Ho Gul,Lee, Myung Kyoon,Lee, Ho Sang Elsevier 2019 Landscape and urban planning Vol.183 No.-

Abstract

Urban warming due to increased urbanization is becoming a serious environmental problem, requiring urban planners to consider heat mitigation strategies that reduce urban air temperature. Urban rivers play an important role in reducing urban heat through evaporation and transfer of sensible heat, known as the river cooling effect (RCE). We used detailed field measurements to calculate the river cooling intensity (RCI) and river cooling distance (RCD) for the Cheonggye River in Seoul, Korea in order to determine the relationship between RCE and urban form at different times of day during summer. Our results showed that the Cheonggye River had a mean RCI of 0.46 °C and a mean RCD of 32.7 m at 2 p.m. and a mean RCI of 0.37 °C and a mean RCD of 37.2 m at 10 p.m. Spatial variations in RCE were negatively correlated with street width and mean building height at 2 p.m., indicating that narrower streets and lower buildings would improve the RCE. In addition, temporal variations in RCE were related to changes wind speed at similar humidity levels. Our results show that the urban form surrounding a river can affect the local RCE, suggesting that landscape and urban planners should consider urban form as a variable affecting urban heat and RCE.

Highlights

High resolution temperature data from mobile survey reveals the small urban river’s cooling effect in micro scale.

The river cooling effect varies with street width and mean building height during the day.

Diurnal and daily variations in the river cooling effect are resulted from wind speed.

Comparison of laparoscopic versus open distal pancreatectomy for benign, pre-malignant, and low grade malignant pancreatic tumors

        Sang Hwa Song,Hee Joon Kim,Eun Kyu Park,Young Hoe Hur,Yang Seok Koh,Chol Kyoon Cho 한국간담췌외과학회 2020 Annals of hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery Vol.24 No.1

Backgrounds/Aims: The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy in benign disease is is safer and more favorable to patients than open distal pancreatectomy. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data of 150 patients who underwent laparoscopic (n=69) or open (=81) distal pancreatectomy at a double institutes from 2008 to 2018. We reviewed each patient’s history for age, sex, pathologic diagnosis. Specific outcomes that were included hospital stay, operative time (in minutes), operative blood loss (in milliliters), 30-daymajormorbidity and mortality (Clavian-Dindo classification), pancreatic leak rate (grade of leak A, B, or C), pancreatic hemorrhage. Results: From 2008 to 2018, there were 150 patients underwent distal pancreatectomy with or without splenectomy for benign pancreatic disease. 81 patients underwent open and 69 patients underwent laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) Intra-operative estimated blood loss was significantly lower in the LDP group than in the OPD group (200 vs. 400 ml p<0.01). There was no difference in blood transfusion between the two groups. There was a significant difference in the resection method between the two groups (p<0.01) and there was a significant difference in the use of mesh for prevention of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) (53 vs. 34 p<0.01). There was no significant difference in incidence of POPF (15.9% in LDP vs 7.4% in ODP, p=0.235) between the two groups, morbidity rate between the two groups (18 vs. 30 p=0.152), post - pancreatectomy hemorrhage, wound infection, hospital stay and readmission. Conclusions: LDP showed there was no difference in the occurrence of POPF, complication and hospital stay. In contrast, intra-operative blood loss was significantly lower in the LDP group than in the ODP group, and LDP was also significantly better in the view point of the feeding advance. In other words, LDP is safer and more favorable to patients than ODP.

Gender Dfferences in Ground Reaction Force Components

        ( Sang-kyoon Park ),( Seungbum Koo ),( Suk-hoon Yoon ),( Sangheon Park ),( Yongcheol Kim ),( Ji-seon Ryu ) 한국운동역학회 2018 한국운동역학회지 Vol.28 No.2

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate gender differences in ground reaction force (GRF) components among different speeds of running. Method: Twenty men (age=22.4±1.6 years, mass=73.4±8.4 kg, height=176.2±5.6 cm) and twenty women (age=20.7±1.2 years, mass=55.0±8.2 kg, height=163.9±5.3 cm) participated in this study. All participants were asked to run on an instrumented dual belt treadmill (Bertec, USA) at 8, 12, and 16 km/h for 3 min, after warming up. GRF data were collected from 30 strides while they were running. Hypotheses were tested using one-way ANOVA, and level of significance was set at p-value <.05. Results: The time to passive peaks was significantly earlier in women than in men at three different running speeds (p<.05). Further, the impact loading rates were significantly greater in women than in men at three different running speeds (p<.05). Moreover, the propulsive peak at 8 km/h, which is the slowest running speed, was significantly greater in women than in men (p<.05), and the vertical impulse at 16 km/h, which is the fastest running speed, was significantly greater in men than in women (p<.05). The absolute anteroposterior impulse at 8 km/h was significantly greater in women than in men (p<.05). In addition, as the running speed increased, impact peak, active peak, impact loading rate, breaking peak, propulsive peak, and anteroposterior impulse were significantly increased, but vertical impulse was significantly decreased (p<.05). Conclusion: The impact loading rate is greater in women than in men regardless of different running speeds. Therefore, female runners might be exposed to the risk of potential injuries related to the bone and ligament. Moreover, increased running speeds could lead to higher possibility of running injuries.
