Patients who reported clinically significant emotional distress were recommended to undergo MCP. Patients who consented to MCP were provided four sessions of the therapy. Patient psychological characteristics were assessed again 2 months after MCP. For statistical comparison, outcome variables included anxiety, depression, mental adjustment to cancer, and quality of life (QoL), as well as the degree of stress and physical symptoms.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Sixteen patients completed the MCP and the final assessment 2 months later. In the initial assessment, the patients receiving MCP showed higher levels of anxiety and depression than those not receiving MCP, and QoL was also lower in terms of role function, emotional function, social function, and global QoL. At the 2-month follow-up, the MCP group showed a significant improvement in anxiety (<I>p</I>=0.007), depression (<I>p</I>=0.010), and anxious preoccupation (<I>p</I><0.001). In addition, QoL significantly improved in the MCP group, while there was no significant change in the non-MCP group.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>In this study, MCP showed potential therapeutic benefits against emotional distress in patients with pancreatobiliary cancer, improving their QoL.</P>

The kenaf plant is used widely as food and in traditional folk medicine. This study evaluated the morphological characteristics, functional compounds, and genetic diversity of 32 kenaf cultivars from a worldwide collection. We found significant differences in the functional compounds of leaves from all cultivars, including differences in levels of chlorogenic acid isomer (CAI), chlorogenic acid (CA), kaempferol glucosyl rhamnoside isomer (KGRI), kaempferol rhamnosyl xyloside (KRX), kaemperitrin (KAPT) and total phenols (TPC). The highest TPC, KAPT, CA, and KRX contents were observed in the C22 cultivars. A significant correlation was observed between flowering time and DM yield, seed yield, and four phenolic compounds (KGRI, KRX, CAI, and TPC) (P < 0.01). To assess genetic diversity, we used 80 simple sequence repeats (SSR) primer sets and identified 225 polymorphic loci in the kenaf cultivars. The polymorphism information content and genetic diversity values ranged from 0.11 to 0.79 and 12 to 0.83, with average values of 0.39 and 0.43, respectively. The cluster analysis of the SSR markers showed that the kenaf genotypes could be clearly divided into three clusters based on flowering time. Correlations analysis was conducted for the 80 SSR markers; morphological, chemical and growth traits were found for 15 marker traits (corolla, vein, petal, leaf, stem color, leaf shape, and KGRI content) with significant marker-trait correlations. These results could be used for the selection of kenaf cultivars with improved yield and functional compounds.

PURPOSE. This study aimed to fabricate provisional crowns at varying build directions using the digital light processing (DLP)-based 3D printing and evaluate the marginal and internal fit of the provisional crowns using the silicone replica technique (SRT). MATERIALS AND METHODS. The prepared resin tooth was scanned and a single crown was designed using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Provisional crowns were printed using a DLP-based 3D printer at 6 directions (120°, 135°, 150°, 180°, 210°, 225°) with 10 crowns in each direction. In total, sixty crowns were printed. To measure the marginal and internal fit, a silicone replica was fabricated and the thickness of the silicone impression material was measured using a digital microscope. Sixteen reference points were set and divided into the following 4 groups: marginal gap (MG), cervical gap (CG), axial gap (AG), and occlusal gap (OG). The measurements were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Dunnett T3. RESULTS. MG, CG, and OG were significantly different by build angle groups (P<.05). The MG and CG were significantly larger in the 120° group than in other groups. OG was the smallest in the 150° and 180° and the largest in the 120° and 135° groups. CONCLUSION. The marginal and internal fit of the 3D-printed provisional crowns can vary depending on the build angle and the best fit was achieved with build angles of 150° and 180°.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the feasibility of ultrashort echo time (UTE)-T2* mapping in comparison with T2 mapping for quantitative evaluation of meniscal degeneration. Materials and Methods: This study included 208 menisci of 99 patients (59 women and 40 men, median age 52 years old [16–80 years]) who underwent knee MRI with both standard T2 mapping and UTE-T2* mapping sequences. A radiologist reviewed the images and graded meniscal degeneration according to the morphologic criteria on T2-weighted and proton density-weighted sequences. Manually drawn regions of interest were placed along the outline and hyperintensity subregion within the meniscus, and in the same location on midsagittal images of each T2 and UTE-T2* sequence. Meniscal T2 and T2* values (T2m and T2*m) as well as T2 and T2* values of hyperintensity subregions (T2h, T2*h) were calculated. Results: There was a strong correlation between T2m, T2*m, T2h, and T2*h, and morphological grades (correlation coefficient 0.793–0.943, 95% CI). On morphologic analysis, 50, 52, 50, and 56 menisci were graded as 0, 1, 2, and 3, respectively. T2m, T2*m, T2h, and T2*h were found to be significantly different in all the grades and tended to be higher in the more degraded meniscus (p < 0.001 for both). Mean T2m was 10.78 ± 2.91 ms, 15.81 ± 2.99 ms, 20.26 ± 3.19 ms, and 30.80 ± 7.38 ms and mean T2*m was 7.10 ± 1.12 ms, 9.64 ± 1.27 ms, 12.01 ± 1.58 ms, and 18.98 ± 4.67 ms for grades 0, 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Mean T2h was 20.05 ± 3.67 ms, 24.39 ± 4.73 ms, and 38.92 ± 9.49 ms and mean T2*h was 10.94 ± 1.65 ms, 13.67 ± 2.41 ms, and 22.36 ± 5.20 ms for grades 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Conclusion: UTE-T2* mapping was feasible for quantitative evaluation of meniscal degeneration in patients. With a few improvements UTE-T2* mapping is a potential substitute for the standard T2 mapping, with improved efficacy.
A Case of Paraneoplastic Limbic Encephalitis Associated with Small Cell Lung Cancer
Ryu, Ja Young,Lee, Seung Hyeun,Lee, Eun Joo,Min, Kyung Hoon,Hur, Gyu Young,Lee, Sung Yong,Kim, Je Hyeong,Lee, Sang Yeub,Shin, Chol,Shim, Jae Jeong,In, Kwang Ho,Kang, Kyung Ho,Yoo, Se Hwa The Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory 2012 Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases Vol.73 No.5
Paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis (PLE) is a rare syndrome characterized by memory impairment, affective and behavioral disturbances and seizures. Among many different neoplasms known to cause PLE, small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is the most frequently reported. The pathogenesis is not fully understood but is believed to be autoimmune-related. We experienced a patient with typical clinical features of PLE. A 67-year-old man presented with seizure and disorientation. Brain magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated high signal intensity in the bilateral amygdala and hippocampus in flair and T2-weighted images suggestive of limbic encephalitis. Cerebrospinal fluid tapping revealed no evidence of malignant cells or infection. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography showed a lung mass with pleural effusion and a consequent biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of PLE associated with SCLC. The patient was subsequently treated with chemotherapy and neurologic symptoms gradually improved.
