Background: In Japan, neonates have typically been bathed in a bathtub immediately after birth because bathing is a custom for cleansing impurities. However, dry technique has been introduced into many institutions since 2000. There is little scientific evidence on the ben- efit or harmfulness of either method to neonatal skin, and consequently, opinion remains split on which method is superior. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to determine whether bathing or the dry technique of cleaning is better in maintaining skin health in the early neonatal period. Methods: Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and skin pH, considered an index of skin bar- rier function, were measured in each group. Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha and inter- leukin (IL)-6, which are inf lammatory cytokines released by keratinocytes, were measured by skin blotting. Results: TEWL and skin pH of neonates were lower with the dry technique than with bath- ing. The expression level of IL-6 and TNF-α in chest skin of neonates was higher with bath- ing than with the dry technique. Conclusion: These results suggest that the dry technique may maintain skin health better than bathing in the early neonatal period.
A Study of the Effects of Smoking on Recognition of Symptoms and Subjective Health
Sachie Ono,Akira Komatsuzaki,Yasuno Yokoi,Takeshi Kamoda 대한예방치과학회 2020 International Journal of Clinical Preventive Denti Vol.16 No.2
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between smoking and recognition of oral and general symptoms, outpatient visits, and subjective health were analyzed. Methods: Anonymous data were obtained for 16,262 people from the Japanese national survey in 2013, and the data for 7,908 people in the 40- to 79-year age group were analyzed. Items for analysis were smoking, drinking, and other lifestyle habits, recognition of oral and general symptoms, outpatient visits, and subjective health. Results: The percentage of smokers was higher among those with no respiratory symptoms (26.7%, p<0.01), those who did not have outpatient visits (25.7%, p<0.01), and alcohol drinker (30.7%, p<0.01). On logistic regression analysis, the odds ratio for subjective health was significant for having subjective symptoms (8.766, p<0.01), stress (4.050, p<0.01), and being a smoker (1.250, p=0.058). Conclusion: Comparisons of the percentage of smokers by recognition of symptoms and outpatient visits suggest that the public is becoming well-informed, but that stronger smoking cessation guidance for dental health may be necessary.

협동의 발걸음으로 당사자성을 이끌어내는 지역학습 : 낙도지역 고등학교와 지역의 연계 사례를 중심으로
오카 사치에(Oka-Sachie) 공주대학교 교육연구소 2022 교육연구 Vol.36 No.2
This paper focuses on the relationship between a high school and the local government on a remote island in Kyushu(Ojika Town, Nagasaki Prefecture), in order to examine community learning and the educational environment that enables it to take place. The study draws on material and findings from seven years of continuous visits with my co-researchers. As a result, the paper has shown that, firstly, by looking at the realities of community learning in high schools, students career choices have changed significantly as students and teachers work together to learn about the community. And the paper pointed out that this exploration was possible because of the stance of the community that accompanied the students and learned together with them. The community here is not only the teachers and external lecturers who work directly with the students, but also the maturing of the culture of collaboration in the community, which was nurtured in the crisis of sustainability in the community, and which acted as an educational environment.
Detecting of Periodic Fasciculations of Avian Muscles Using Magnetic and Other Multimedia Devices
Isao Nakajima,Sachie Tanaka,Kokuryo Mitsuhashi,Jun-ichi Hata,Tomo Nakajima 한국멀티미디어학회 2019 The journal of multimedia information system Vol.6 No.4
In the past, there was a theory that influenza wasn’t transmitted directly from birds but was infected to humans via swains. Recently, molecular level research has progressed, and it was confirmed that the avian influenza virus can directly infected to human lung and intestinal epithelial cells. Three pandemics in the past 100 years were also infected to humans directly from birds. In view of such scientific background, we are developing a method for screening sick birds by monitoring the physiological characteristics of birds in a contactless manner with sensors. Here, the movement of respiratory muscles and abdominal muscles under autonomic innervation was monitored using a magnet and Hall sensor sewn on the thoracic wall, and other multimedia devices. This paper presents and discusses the results of experiments involving continuous periodic noise discovered during flight experiments with a data logger mounted on a Japanese pheasant from 2012 to 2015. A brief summary is given as the below: 1. Magnet and Hall sensor sewn to the left and right chest walls, bipolar electrocardiograms between the thoracic walls, posterior thoracic air sac pressure, angular velocity sensors sewn on the back and hips, and optical reflection of LEDs (blue and green) from the skin of the hips allow observation of periodic vibrations(fasciculations) in the waves. No such analysis has been reported before. 2. These fasciculations are presumed to be derived from muscle to maintain and control air sac pressure. 3. Since each muscle fiber is spatially Gaussian distributed from the sympathetic nerve, the envelope is assumed to plot a Gaussian curve. 4. Since avian trunk muscles contract periodically at all time, we assume that the sympathetic nerve dominates in their control. 5. The technique of sewing a magnet to the thoracic wall and measuring the strength of the magnetic field with a Hall sensor can be applied to screen for early stage of avian influenza, with a sensor attached to the chicken enclosure.
The Effect of KCS-therapy for the Meniscus on Improving the Range of Motion of the Knee
Urata Sizuko,Kikuchi Sachie,Anthony Bendik,Onodera Yasushi 보완대체의학연구소 2011 Research Journal of Complementary and Alternative Vol.- No.2
In this study we conducted research on the effectiveness of our unique technique, KCS's adjustment of the meniscus for measuring the improvement of the knee joint's range of motion by restored mobility in the meniscus in 200 peoples, 400 cases. According to our results, a recovery of the range of motion was confirmed in patients of 76% using automatic movement (AE), and of 78% using passive movement. Also, in cases who suffered from pain, an organic illness and cases with a nearly normal range of movement were confirmed to have a clear recovery and an increase in the range of movement. Therefore, this technique can be confirmed effective in regards to the knee joint's range of motion and the improvement of the QOL.
