Primary endometrial squamous cell carcinoma is extremely rare, with only 64 cases repo- rted in the literature. In 1928 Fluhmann proposed three criteria for differentiating primary from secondary endometrial squamous cell carcinoma:(1) no coexisting endometrial adenocarcinoma (2) no connection between the endometrial tumor and the squamous epithelium of the cervix, and (3) no squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix present. Several authors have modified these criteria in their case presentations. Kay accepts the presence of an in situ cervical carcinoma, if there is no connection between cervical carcinoma in situ and the endometrial tumors. We have experienced a case of simultaneous carcinoma in situ of the cervix and endomet- rial squamous cell careinoma. This case was treated with chemotherapy(cisplatin, 5-fluoruracil) and external radiation following extended hysterectomy and bilateral salpingooophorectomy We report this case with a review of the concerned literatures.

Immune tolerance at feto-maternal interfaces is a complex phenomenon. Although maternal decidual macrophages are well-known immune cells, little is known about fetal-derived macrophages (Hofbauer cells) within chorionic villi. Preeclampsia (PE) is a major cause of maternal mortality in the field of obstetrics, and the innate immunological role of maternal decidual macrophages is well known. In this study, we assessed the differential phenotypes and marker expressiOn m fetal macrophages, known as dendritic cell- specific ICAM -grabbing nonintegrin (DC-SIGN) -positive Hofbauer cells. We compared Hofbauer cell properties between normal and PE placenta chorionic villi and performed sequential staining of DC-SIGN, CD14, and CD68 to evaluate the existence of Hofbauer cells. Furthermore, to evaluate the immunological function of these cells, we stained the cells for CD163, a marker of immunoregulatory type 2 (M2) macrophages. Additionally, we examined the expression of the immunosuppressive cytokine interleukin (IL) -10, which is known to be produced by M2 macrophages. DCSIGN +/CD14+, DC-SIGN +/CD68+, and CD163+/DC-SIGN + cells were quantified based on photomicrographs. The results showed that CD14, CD163, DC-SIGN, and IL-10 levels were significantly downregulated in PE compared with normal. Additionally, CD 163 +/DC -SIGN+ Hofbauer cells were significantly less frequent in PE than in normal. DC-SIGN Hofbauer cells produced IL-10 at lower levels in the PE than in the normal. Thus, we speculate that fetal-derived Hofbauer cells may play an important role in normal pregnancy with immunosuppressive effects based on their M2 macrophage characteristics to maintain immune tolerance during pregnancy. Additionally, in PE, these functions were defective, supporting the roles of these macrophages in PE development.

Many years have passed since the new plastic intrauterine devices have been widely used, but today little is known about the mechanism of action, the causation fo side effects or the reason for the expulsion. The present study has been undertaken to observe the behavior of a device (Lippes` loop) in the uterine cavity and its possible relationship to the side effects.

It has been said that the body weight of the newborn infant was influenced by the various factors; race, climate, sex of the newborn infants, duration of pregnancy, age of mother, parities and nutritional condition and the scoico-economic status of parents. As a first step, authors have tried to obtain the average birth weight of newborns, delivered at the Seoul National University Hospital in relation with their partity and gestational period. The data derived from the delivery room of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Seoul National University Hospital from 1962 to 1966 has been used. The results are as follows; 1) The average body weight of the newborn infants is 3.314gm. 2) The average body weight of the male and female are 3.362gm and 3,262gm respectivly. 3) The data of the average body weight of newborn classified by weeks after L.M.P. shows the increase in body weight to 41 weeks and after that significant increase has not been noted. 4) There is no significant difference between the data of the average body weight grouped by year for five years.

응혈장애는 여러 응혈인자의 결핍으로 될 수 있으나 산과학에서 일어나는 거의 모두는 혈장 섬유소원(plasma fibrinogen)의 농도가 저하되어 응혈에 장애를 일으키는 저섬유소원증(hypofibrinogenemia) 또는 무섬유소원증(afibrinogenenmia)이다. 혈장섬유소원의 혈장농도는 임신중에 생리적으로 임신전의 약 50%나 상승하며 다른 혈액응고인자도 약간 상승하여 분만때에 생길 출혈을 지혈할 목적으로 이에 대비하는 상태로 되어 있다. 혈장 섬유소원이 200mg% 이하로 되면 저섬유소원증으로 처리되어야 하며 임상적으로 심각한 출혈이 나 타나는 농도는 100mg% 이하이다. 저섬유소원증이 속발할 수 있는 질병과 상태는 1. 태반조기박리 2. 태아사망의 장류기계 3. 산과적 출혈합병증(전치태반, 태반잔류, 산후출혈) 4. 양수혈전증 5. 패혈증 6. 부적합한 혈액의 수혈 7. 수액의 부작용 8. 유산목적으로 양수내 고장액주입등이다. 저섬유소원증은 선행질환도 위중하지만 약 10%의 모성사망율이 있고 약 2%는 생존하더라도 불구자가 된 다.

저자들은 모 개인병원에서 절박유산이라는 진단하에 소파수술을 시도하다 다량의 자궁출혈로 본병원에 응급전원된 31세의 1회 경산부에서, 진성경관임신의 1예를 경험하여 병리조직학적으로 확진이 되었기에 문헌적 고찰과 더불어 보고하는 바이다. A case of cervical pregnancy in a 31 years old, primiparous woman is presented with a brief review of literatures.
