Risk and Return of Islamic and Conventional Indices on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
SURYADI, Suryadi,ENDRI, Endri,YASID, Mukhamad Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.3
The purpose of this study is to compare the level of risk and return of Islamic stocks in the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) with conventional stocks on the IDX30 in the period from January 2017 to July 2019. The Sharpe ratio method is used to calculate risk and stock returns. The performance of the stock portfolio is measured by comparing the risk premium portfolio with the portfolio risk that is expressed as a standard deviation of the total risk. This study uses secondary data collected by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), which provides the names of stock issuers included in the JII and IDX30 indices along with their montly closing price. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the JII Sharpe ratio index from January 2017 to July 2019 is from the minimum range of -0.28820 to a maximum range of 0.05622, while the IDX30 Sharpe ratio index from January 2017 to July 2019 is from the minimum range of -0.09290 to the maximum range of 0.17436. The results of inferential analysis using a different test show that there is a significant difference between the Sharpe ratio JII and IDX30 in measuring the performance of the stock portfolio.
An Exploration of Students’ Conceptual Resource in Learning Heat and Temperature
Ahmad Suryadi,Lia Yuliati,Hari Wisodo 한국물리학회 2021 새물리 Vol.71 No.9
We report the exploration of students’ conceptual resources before and after obtaining a learning sequence on the topics of heat and temperature. This study was conducted in three phases: before instruction, during instruction and after instruction. This study was conducted in MAN 1 Kota Malang, Indonesia. In general, four conceptual resources were activated by the students: namely, 1) students associate insulators with poor conductors of heat, 2) students correlate material characteristics with their perceptions of heat/cold, 3) students associate both phase change and temperature change with the process of heat flow and energy transfer, and 4) students equate temperature and heat. Our data confirmed that conceptual resource activation was highly context-dependent. For example, students thought that conductors were cooler than insulator materials and that conductors were hotter than insulator materials activated in an appropriate context and an inappropriate context. The results of this study can be used in designing the details of learning about temperature and heat the future.
A Topic Modeling and Sentiment Analysis Approach for Benchmarking of Hotels Based on Online Reviews
Dedy Suryadi,Jovanska Arfianda Imran 대한산업공학회 2022 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.21 No.4
This paper proposes a methodology that utilizes online reviews for performing competitive and customer-driven benchmarking. The utilization of online reviews may overcome the difficulty of obtaining information about compet-itors through conventional approaches, such as surveys. A topic modeling method, Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), identifies the essential aspects discussed in the reviews. Combining the identified aspects with sentiment analysis, the best practices may be discovered with respect to each important aspect. In the case study, ten important aspects are identified, i.e., Room Amenities, Parking Area, Food & Beverage, Check-in/out, Fitness & Recreational Facilities, Hospitality, Room Quality, Staying Experience, Design, and Location. Furthermore, adjective words are used to ob-tain more specific customer needs regarding an aspect. Those customer needs may suggest improvements that hotels may implement, such as reducing the air-conditioner’s noise and improving the rooms’ soundproofing.
Community Development and Economic Welfare through the Village Fund Policy
Djoko UDJIANTO,Abdul HAKIM,Tjahjanulin DOMAI,Suryadi SURYADI,H. HAYAT 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.1
This study aims to investigate the implementation of village fund (VF) policy in Indonesia by addressing the following issues: (1) what is the VF policy; (2) factors that support and hinder policy implementation; (3) impact of policy implementation; and (4) model for implementing village fund policies that can improve community welfare. Through a descriptive qualitative-based approach, several indicators are measured, namely, the substance of implementing rules, the results of project implementation, supporting and inhibiting factors for policies, participation factors, and the impact generated by village fund policies, which include social and economic effects. The extraction of this information and indicators will lead this study to produce ideal models and propositions for quantitative confirmatory research as a future research agenda. This study was conducted in two villages (Mojomulyo and Tambakromo) in Pati District, Central Java, Indonesia. Data collection model using interviews and observations from all actors who play a role (e.g., village government, village supervisory agency, and community). The study results show that policies have been implemented by normative rules; there are several supporting and inhibiting factors both internal and external. The study results also confirm the relevance of the articulated theory and some comprehensive input to our study.
Utilizing Isomorphic Multiple-Choice Items to Diagnose Students Misconceptions in Force and Motion
Sentot Kusairi,Sutopo,Ahmad Suryadi 한국물리학회 2022 새물리 Vol.72 No.4
Isomorphic multiple-choice items (IMCI) are a potential tool to diagnose students misconceptions. This survey research aimed to identify the characteristics of students responses on IMCI and diagnose students misconceptions. The relationship between students responses to diagnostic results and their success in solving open-ended items was also investigated. The IMCI consisted of nine multiple-choice items that were categorized into three IMCI groups according to the force and motion concepts covered in the questions. To evaluate the accuracy of IMCI diagnosis, an open-ended problem was also developed. Referring to their responses to the IMCI, students were classified into three groups: those who understand the concept, those who hold misconceptions, and those who are inconsistent. It was found that students who understand the concept well also demonstrated a high ability to solve the open-ended problem as shown by the average score of those students, which was the highest among the groups. The isomorphic scores were correlated significantly with open-ended scores, while conventional scores did not show any significant correlation.

Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) represents a promising solvent in the synthesis of biodiesel givenits enhanced mass transfer properties as well as its high affinity to the fatty acids. In this work, the phaseequilibria data of 5 major fatty acids: palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acid in SC-CO2 werestudied experimentally at temperature between 343.15 to 373.15 K and pressures between 8 to 24 MPa. The experimental data were correlated using Peng–Robinson Equation of State with van der Waals(PR-vdW), Panagiotopoulos-Reid (PR-PR), and Stryjek-Vera (PR-SV) combining rules. Thefitting result byPR-PR was shown to be more accurate and consistent than those of PR-vdW and PR-SV. From these data,we found that oleic acid has the greatest solubility in SC-CO2, followed by linoleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and lastly, linolenic acid.

Pharmaceutical dosage forms containing gelatin are recently of high attention in regard to its porcine content. In Muslim countries, halal products assurance is strictly regulated, not only for food but also for pharmaceutical products. This study aimed to develop gelatin identification and verification method in capsule shells by performing simple simultaneous protein- and nucleic acid based-identification methods. Identification and verification performing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE)—coupled with principle component analysis, and polymerase-chain-reaction (PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) were carried out. Gelatin was obtained by extracting the capsules using cold acetone; the precipitate was used directly for PAGE, and was used as well for DNA extraction. The results showed that the porcine gelatin reference showed 12 major bands of peptide profile, with predominant bands at ±200 and ±100–135 kDa on 8 % Tris-glycine gel, while bovine gelatin only showed four major bands. Further, PCR-RFLP result showed two specific bands of the porcine gelatin DNA at 228 and 131 bp, whereas the bovine gelatin DNA bands occurred at 316 and 44 bp. The results demonstrated that the capsule shell samples used in this study contained the following: sample 1 was verified contain porcine gelatin, whereas the three other samples identified contain bovine gelatin. Although the simultaneous approaches seemed need to be improved, it is crucial to maintain their low cost and simple protocol.
