        A novel non-probabilistic approach using interval analysis for robust design optimization

        A technique for formulation of the objective and constraint functions with uncertainty plays a crucial role in robust design optimization. This paper presents the first application of interval methods for reformulating the robust optimization problem. Based on interval mathematics, the original real-valued objective and constraint functions are replaced with the interval-valued functions, which directly represent the upper and lower bounds of the new functions under uncertainty. The single objective function is converted into two objective functions for minimizing the mean value and the variation, and the constraint functions are reformulated with the acceptable robustness level, resulting in a bi-level mathematical model. Compared with other methods, this method is efficient and does not require presumed probability distribution of uncertain factors or gradient or continuous information of constraints. Two numerical examples are used to illustrate the validity and feasibility of the presented method.

      • A Fast Electrical Energy Measurement Device and Power Consumption Detection Method of Electric Vehicle Charger

        More and more electric vehicles have been used in China, and many charging station has been built in China. Due to the reactive power loss caused by charging devices, the method to measure the power consumed by charging device is critical for power company. Based on impact loads generated by electric vehicles to the grid in fast charging mode, this paper studies the energy measurement method of electric vehicle charging mode. Since each phase current of charging post imbalance, to prevent the sum of each phase current vector of charging posts over the protection current threshold and the charging post breaker misusing in power circuit, preventing leakage circuit breaker current imbalance system is designed. Finally, this paper studies the power consumption detection methods of electric vehicle charging posts. By comparing the fast Fourier transform and wavelet analysis algorithms, an electric energy measurement device of electric vehicle charging machine based on FFT and wavelet analysis are proposed. Combined with fast data processing functions of DSP, the device can quickly and accurately measures electric vehicles charging amounts under different charging modes.

      • Primo Vascular System: An Endothelial-to-Mesenchymal Potential Transitional Tissue Involved in Gastric Cancer Metastasis

        <P>Gastric cancer is the fourth commonest cancer in the world and the second leading cause of cancer-related death. Investigation of gastric cancer metastasis is one of the hottest and major focuses in cancer research. Growing evidence manifested that primo vascular system (PVS) is a new kind of circulatory system beyond vascular and lymphatic system. Previous researches revealed that PVS is a specific tissue between endothelium and mesenchyme and is involved in cancer, especially in tumor metastasis and regeneration. In current study, we investigated the role of primo vessels in gastric cancer metastasis and its possible relationship to vascular vessels formation. Our results indicated that primo vessels were involved in gastric cancer metastasis. We observed blood vessel-mediated metastasis, primo vessel-mediated metastasis, and an intermediate state between them. We deduced that primo vessels may be precursors of blood vessels. These results possibly provided a thoroughly new theoretic development in cancer metastasis.</P>

        Dynamics of fungal community during silage fermentation of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) produced in northern Vietnam

        Objective: This study aimed to gain deeper insights into the dynamic changes in spoilage fungi populations during fermentation and the influence of traditional additives on silage quality. Methods: Elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) was prepared without any additive (control), and with the addition of 0.5% salt, and 0.5% salt–0.2% sugar mixture. The fungal community was then determined using a classic culturing method and high-throughput sequencing at 0, 5, 15, and 60 days after ensiling. Results: The results showed that the fungal community of elephant grass silage varied significantly between the natural fermentation without any additive and the two additive groups. The diversity and relative abundance of spoilage molds in the control group were much higher than those in the two treatment groups (p<0.05). Three species of yeasts (Candida sp., Pichia sp., Trichosporon sp.) and four spoilage molds (Fusarium sp., Aspergillus sp., Muco sp. and Penicillin sp.) were the predominant fungi in elephant grass during natural fermentation from 0 to 60 days, which were found to be significantly decreased in salt and sugar additive groups (p<0.05). Meanwhile, the diversity and relative abundance of undesirable molds in the 0.5%-salt additive group were the lowest among all groups. Conclusion: Adding salt and sugar, particularly 0.5% salt, is a promising effective approach to reduce the amount of undesirable fungi thus, improving the silage quality of elephant grass in northern Vietnam.

        제품 인증마크가 소비자의 제품선택에 미치는 영향 비교 연구

        제품 인증마크는 소비자의 의사결정에서 제품의 품질수준을 판단할 수 있는 신뢰성 있는 정보를 제공해준다. 이 연구에서는 인증마크가 제품태도에 미치는 긍정적인 영향을 실증해 보고, 제품의 가격수준을 조절변수로 도입하여 그 차이를 검증하였다. 또한 각각의 경우에서 한국과 중국 두 국가간 비교연구를 시행하였다. 제품특성에 의한 영향을 고려하여 두 가지의 복수 제품을 사례로 조사하였다. 그 결과 인증마크가 제품 태도에 미치는 효과는 중국보다 한국 소비자에게서 더 강하게 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 가격수준의 조절효과는 중국 소비자의 경우, 그리고 높은 가격수준의 상황에서 더욱 강하게 나타난다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 무엇보다도 인증마크의 효과성에 대한 국가간 비교 연구라는 점에서 연구 의의가 크다고 생각되며, 가격수준에 따른 인증마크 효과의 차이를 검증하여 새로운 탐색적 연구방향을 제시하였다는 점에서 시사점이 있다. Product Certification Marks can be used as reliable information in terms of product quality to consumers. This study focuses on how each product attitude of consumers in Korea and China can be changed depending on attachment of product certification mark. Based on nations, product certification marks, and price levels, eight types of questionnaire are distributed and collected where the respondents are allowed to answer product attitudes of two different products in oder to minimize the effect of the product characteristic. As a result, the product attitude of Korean consumers has been showed to more depend on product certification mark than that of Chinese consumers does. The moderating effect of price has been stronger on Chinese consumers than on Korean consumers, and in the case of high price there has been a distinct gap between two countries. This study has its meaning in the way of that the product certification mark has been considered in relation to price level and differently affected product attitude between two countries.

        Putative Primo-vascular System in Mesentery of Rats

        Primo-vessels have been observed in the rat abdominal cavity as floating threadlike structures on and not adhering to fascia-wrapped internal organs. To date their presence, locations, and lengths have been irregular and unpredictable, and their identification not regularly repeatable, thus they have remained a nagging enigma in primo-vascular system research for several years. In this work, locations were found where primo-vessels were regularly present and observed repeatedly. These vessels were not floating or freely movable but lay in a regular position in the mesentery in the abdominal cavity of the rat, being observed between the cecum and small intestine and between the colon and mesentery root. The difference between a lymph vessel and a primo-vessel is described in anatomical and histological aspects. In addition, trypan blue was found to enter primo-vessels through the surrounding membranes and filled spaces between fibers comprising the primovessels. It is conjectured that the previously observed floating primo-vessels had anomalously and irregularly emerged, for some unknown physiological reasons,from primo-vessels normally located in the fascia-like mesentery.

        Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Benzimidazole Derivatives Bearing a Heterocyclic Ring at 4/5 Position

        A series of novel benzimidazole derivatives bearing a heterocyclic ring as oxadiazole (21-32), thiadiazole (33- 34), triazole (35-36) were synthesized and evaluated for their activities against Coxsackie virus B3 and B6 in Vero cells. Compounds 21-26, 31-36 with moieties of 2'-pyridyl, 3'-pyridyl and 4'-pyridyl at the 2-position and oxadiazoles, thiadiazole, or triazole substituent at the 4- or 5-position generally displayed activities against CVB3 and CVB6. Especially compound 24 (IC50 = 1.08 μg/mL, SI = 61.7 against CVB3) was the promising candidate as lead compound for anti-enteroviral drug. It was observed in the incorporation of heterocyclic rings in benzimidazole at the 5-position could enhance their biological activities.

        Identification and Characterization of Two New S-Adenosylmethionine- Dependent Methyltransferase Encoding Genes Suggested Their Involvement in Stipe Elongation of Flammulina velutipes

        Two new SAM-dependent methyltransferase encoding genes (fvsmt1 and fvsmt2) were identified from the genome of Flammulina velutipes. In order to make a comprehensive characterization of both genes, we performed in silico analysis of both genes and used qRT-PCR to reveal their expression patterns during the development of F. velutipes. There are 4 and 6 exons with total length of 693 and 978 bp in fvsmt2 and fvsmt1, respectively. The deduced proteins, i.e., FVSMT1 and FVSMT2 contained 325 and 230 amino acids with molecular weight 36297 and 24894 Da, respectively. Both proteins contained a SAM-dependent catalytic domain with signature motifs (I, p-I, II, and III) defining the SAM fold. SAM-dependent catalytic domain is located either in the middle or at the N-terminal of FVSMT2 and FVSMT1, respectively. Alignment and phylogenic analysis showed that FVSMT1 is a homolog to a protein- arginine omega-N-methyltransferase, while FVSMT2 is of cinnamoyl CoA O-methyltransferase type and predicted subcellular locations of these proteins are mitochondria and cytoplasm, respectively. qRT-PCR showed that fvsmt1 and fvsmt2 expression was regulated in different developmental stages. The maximum expression levels of fvsmt1 and fvsmt2 were observed in stipe elongation, while no difference was found in mycelium and pileus. These results positively demonstrate that both the methyltransferase encoding genes are involved in the stipe elongation of F. velutipes.

        Identification and Expression Patterns of fvexpl1, an Expansin-Like Protein-Encoding Gene, Suggest an Auxiliary Role in the Stipe Morphogenesis of Flammulina velutipes

        Expansins are cell wall proteins that mediate cell wall loosening and promote specific tissue and organ morphogenesis in plants and in some microorganisms. Unlike plant expansins, the biological functions of fungal expansin-like proteins have rarely been discussed. In the present study, an expansin-like protein-encoding fvexpl1 gene, was identified from Flammulina velutipes by using local BLAST. It consisted of five exons with a total length of 822 bp. The deduced protein FVEXPL1 contained 274 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass and isoelectric point of 28,589 Da and pH 4.93, respectively. The first 19 amino acids from the N terminal are the signal peptide. Phylogenetic analysis and multiple protein alignment indicated FVEXPL1 was an expansin-like protein. The expression level of fvexpl1 gene in the stipe was significantly higher than that in the mycelia, primordia, and cap. However, the expression level of fvexpl1 gene was significantly higher in the fast elongation region of the stipe as compared with the slow elongation region. Expression analysis indicated that fvexpl1 gene might have an auxiliary role in the stipe morphogenesis of F. velutipes.
