"Some aspects of the typography and the orthography of the French Language of 1783 through the study of a small moralistic play" The aim of this paper is not so much to show that the French Language was not in 1783 much different from the French Language of to-day, which is quite a trivial observation, than to give the reader a real practical view of this fact. It is why we have thought it to be of the most importance to give here, with our remarks, and comments, not a transcription, but a copy of the original text printed in 1783, which allows the reader to feel at once some of the differences with the modern language, and first, some aspects of its typography. We begin indeed with a particularity of the typography, the different writings of the "s" minuscule, written with two different forms according to its position, and continue with some aspects of words orthography(accents, hyphen, diaresis), and grammatical orthography(adjectives, present participles, writing of the diphtongue "oi" instead of the modern "ai" in some grammatical endings) Also we have tried to give a mathematical assessment (percentages), of how much, in each case of difference, the text of 1783 is different from the modern language, which led us to give some statistical lists of occurences, and think of the best way to calculate the percentages. (Note : because of its length and, for printing management reasons, this paper is divided in two parts, the second being printed by the Institute of Foreign Language Studies of the same University. we ask the reader to refer in this second part to the photographical reproduction of the original text of 1783 studied here).

The purpose of the present short study is to give to the foreign teacher of french, especially to a non-occidental reader, an overall view of the different possible values of the french expression (or structure) "Voulez-vous + INF?". Though the semi-auxiliary verb "vouloir", in regard of its main role in conversation, can be found in even the smallest bilingual french dictionary, the different values of this verb are not found in extenso in many mid-size dictionnary, and even in bigger ones. In these last ones which give usually more accurate information, all different values are not always be found in appropiate distinct paragraphs, in the "vouloir" verb entry. As an example Voulez-vous + INF is sometimes treated only as an another form or "Veuillez + INF, though this last form cannot generally be used as an equivalent of the former. In particular, must be remembered the fact that "Voulez-vous + INF?", though being grammatically a question, may have the value of a polite and/or formal command, and under its grammatical polite disguise, may even be cold and unsympathetic. When it corresponds to such disguised command, one have to understand that there is anyway a fondamental contradiction in this expression which is (grammatically) asking a question and at the same time (semantically) could be issuing a command to the very same person. This may bring difficulties of interpretation for the foreign student not yet clearly award of this fact. In addition we analyse why this unwareness may stay with a semi-beginner in French Language, longer than one may think in the first place.
Considerations generales sur la definition de la conclusivite

This study aims at giving a bird's eye view of the kind of problems linked to the notion of "conclusive andnon-conclusive verbs". It is based on a definiton extracted from the article "Aspect" in the "Grand Larousse de la Langue Francaise"(1971), definition that we analyse and make a pretext for various consideration on subjects such as the importance of the context (object of the verb, time and ocation adverbs) for the meaning of the verb, the difference to be made between "interruption" and "concluson" of an action, the difficulty in distinguishing some "momentary verbs" from some "durative" ones and the use of these last two notions in making two sub-classes in the conclusive verb category. A number of calssifying tests are also presented through various examples. The reader will be able to see their performance but also their limits and the need to add them some restrictive conditions such as the non-iterative interpretation.
