Proteins are complex macromolecules accountable for the biological processes in the cell. In biomedical research, the imagesof protein are extensively used in medicine. The rate at which these images are produced makes it diffi cult to evaluate themmanually and hence there exists a need to automate the system. The quality of images is still a major issue. In this paper, wepresent the use of diff erent image enhancement techniques that improves the contrast of these images. Besides the qualityof images, the challenge of gathering such datasets in the fi eld of medicine persists. We use generative adversarial networksfor generating synthetic samples to ameliorate the results of CNN. The performance of the synthetic data augmentationwas compared with the classic data augmentation on the classifi cation task, an increase of 2.7% in Macro F1 and 2.64%in Micro F1 score was observed. Our best results were obtained by the pretrained Inception V4 model that gave a fi vefoldcross-validated macro F1 of 0.603. The achieved results are contrasted with the existing work and comparisons show thatthe proposed method outperformed.
Four-Element Biodegradable Substrate-Integrated MIMO DRA with Radiation Diversity
Verma Rasika,Sharma Rohit 한국전자파학회 2024 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.24 No.2
This article presents a four-element directional multiple input multiple output (MIMO) rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (RDRA) equipped with strategically placed copper reflector plates to enhance port isolation. This design aims to achieve an extended coverage range without compromising the coverage area. The proposed MIMO antenna is 3D printed using biodegradable polylactic acid to ensure mechanical robustness and then integrated with the substrate to prevent mis-mounting issues. The proposed design exhibits good MIMO characteristics, registering a 3-GHz bandwidth (4–7 GHz) for |S11|≤-10 dB and a minimum radiation gain of 7 dBi for all four RDRAs. The antenna demonstrates a rotation of radiation patterns for different ports, thus enabling beam formation in specific directions. With a beam width of 71.2˚, the antenna covers all directions without any fade zones. The proposed 3D printed antenna offers simplicity, strong MIMO properties, and practicality for wireless communication systems, making it suitable for industrial, scientific, and medical band applications.
The Effect of a Companion’s Role-Play Quality on the Patient’s Perceived Healthcare Service Quality

The importance of a companion as a value cocreator has been conceptually proposed but is yet to be empirically examined. Studies on companions and their roles have focused mostly on particular aspects and are primarily descriptive in nature. A comprehensive account of the companionship role is yet to be accomplished. With healthcare services as the study context, this study first identifies the companionship role and carries out an empirical examination. Using field survey data from 201 respondents, a three-factor scale for companionship roles with two items for informational role, four items for emotional role, and four items for communicative role is first validated. And then, a structural equation modeling analysis tests proposed hypotheses. Results show that a patient’s perceived quality of his/her companion’s role-play during the service delivery process positively affects the customer’s perceived quality of the healthcare service rendered by the healthcare firm. The moderation effect of customer-companion relationship quality is also demonstrated.

Objective: The literature on managing migraine non-responsive to pharmacological approaches and that co-occurring with depression is scanty. The comorbid condition predicts a poorer prognosis for migraine as well as depression. The present report assesses efficacy and tolerability of high frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) over left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex as a treatment modality for migraine with comorbid depression. Methods: The current retrospective chart review assesses effectiveness of high frequency rTMS over left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex as a treatment modality to manage migraine occurring comorbid with depression in 14 subjects. Results: The mean scores on Migraine Disability Assessment Test (MIDAS) and depression rating scale reduced significantly from 21.14±3.01 and 20.71±3.95 at baseline to 13.93±6.09 and 14.21±5.52 respectively, after rTMS. There was significant improvement in migraine frequency, severity and functional disability assessed using MIDAS scores (p <0.05) following high frequency rTMS compared to baseline. Conclusion: There is a role of applying rTMS as a potential therapeutic modality in the integrated management of a distinct subgroup of migraine patients with comorbid depression.

Obsessive-compulsive symptoms and/or obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) are frequently comorbid with schizophrenia, though the exact clinical and etiological relationship between them is poorly understood. Here we describe a case that, to the best of our knowledge, is the first report of new-onset OCD in a patient who was receiving high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation over left dorsolateral pre-frontal cortex as an adjuvant therapy for negative symptoms of schizophrenia. Thisreport supports our understanding of OCD as a brain disorder involving hyperactivity of pre-frontal cortex and cortico-striatal-thalamo-cortical circuit dysfunction.
