Resilient Packet Transmission (RPT) for the Buffer Based Routing (BBR) Protocol

Rathee, Geetanjali,Rakesh, Nitin Korea Information Processing Society 2016 Journal of information processing systems Vol.12 No.1

To provide effective communication in the wireless mesh network (WMN), several algorithms have been proposed. Since the possibilities of numerous failures always exist during communication, resiliency has been proven to be an important aspect for WMN to recover from these failures. In general, resiliency is the diligence of the reliability and availability in network. Several types of resiliency based routing algorithms have been proposed (i.e., Resilient Multicast, ROMER, etc.). Resilient Multicast establishes a two-node disjoint path and ROMER uses a credit-based approach to provide resiliency in the network. However, these proposed approaches have some disadvantages in terms of network throughput and network congestion. Previously, the buffer based routing (BBR) approach has been proposed to overcome these disadvantages. We proved earlier that BBR is more efficient in regards to w.r.t throughput, network performance, and reliability. In this paper, we consider the node/link failure issues and analogous performance of BBR. For these items we have proposed a resilient packet transmission (RPT) algorithm as a remedy for BBR during these types of failures. We also share the comparative performance analysis of previous approaches as compared to our proposed approach. Network throughput, network congestion, and resiliency against node/link failure are particular performance metrics that are examined over different sized WMNs.

qMon: A Method to Monitor Queueing Delay in OpenFlow Networks

        Sandhya Rathee,Shubham Tiwari,K Haribabu,Ashutosh Bhatia 한국통신학회 2022 Journal of communications and networks Vol.24 No.4

In software-defined networking (SDN), the decou- pled architecture provides opportunities for efficiently measuring critical quality of service (QoS) parameters, such as delay. Existing approaches, to dynamically obtain delay, are based around calculating the transit time of a probe packet that travels through the data links. These approaches are not efficient as the probe packet injected into the data plane incurs considerable overhead. Additionally, a separate probe packet is required to measure the delay of each queue if more than one queue is present on the egress port of a switch. Thus, these approaches are not scalable. In this paper, we propose an efficient passive delay estimation method, queueing delay monitoring (qMon), to monitor queueing delay in SDN networks. qMon leverages the OpenFlow protocol to obtain queue statistics from switches at regular intervals, which are further employed to estimate the mean queueing delay for each interval. Thus, the proposed approach differs from the existing approaches as no packet is injected into the data plane to measure delay. The results show that for Poisson traffic and for bursty traffic with large ON intervals, round trip time (RTT) values estimated using qMon and ping utility demonstrate high correlation when the measured RTT value is considered as time-series data.

      • Maternal Factors and Risk of Childhood Leukemia

Kumar, Ashok,Vashist, Minakshi,Rathee, Radha Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.2

Background: Although the cause in most cases of childhood leukemia is not known, the contribution of environmental risk factors in the context of genetic predisposition has been reported with inconsistent results. The aim of this study was to examine association of childhood leukemia with maternal factors especially during pregnancy, to help in avoiding risk factors. Materials and Methods: This case-control study included children younger than 18 years diagnosed with leukemia from 2008 to 2012. Controls were randomly selected and individually matched to cases with respect to age, sex, and residency. All variables were compared between cases and control to determine any significant association with leukemia. Results: Statistically significant associations between risk of childhood leukemia with mother's education (p=0.001), occupation (p=0.0005) and pesticides exposure (p=0.005) during pregnancy were found. However, there were no significant links with maternal age (p=0.090), history of fetal loss (0.85), history of radiography during pregnancy (p=0.400), history of drug intake (p=0.689) and infection (p=0.696) during pregnancy. Conclusions: The results showed increased risk of leukemia in children whose mothers were working in agriculture and were exposed to pesticides during pregnancy. The further study needs to be investigated to know association of various maternal risk factors with leukemia which remained unknown in this study.

A HYBRID ALGORITHM FOR LUNG CANCER CLASSIFICATION USING SVM AND NEURAL NETWORKS

        Pankaj Nanglia,Sumit Kumar,Aparna N. Mahajan,Paramjit Singh,Davinder Rathee 한국통신학회 2021 ICT Express Vol.7 No.3

The present research article focused on the factual findings of the potential usage of the combinational Feed-Forward Back Propagation Neural Network as a judgment making for lung cancer. In this context, Support Vector Machine is integrated with Feed-Forward Back Propagation Neural Network to create a hybrid algorithm that further helps in reducing the computation complexity of the classification. A set of 500 images are utilized in which 75% data is used for the training purpose and the rest 25% is used to achieve the classification. In the view of forgoing, a three-block mechanism is proposed for the classification in which the first block preprocesses the dataset, the second block extracts the features via the SURF technique followed by the optimization using Genetic Algorithm and the terminal block is for the classification via FFBPNN. The hybrid classification algorithm is named as Kernel Attribute Selected Classifier and the overall classification accuracy of the proposed algorithm is 98.08%. Herein, the objective of the study is to enhance the classification accuracy by applying a hybrid classification algorithm.

Peptide hydrogel with self-healing and redox-responsive properties

        D’Souza Areetha,Marshall Liam R.,Yoon Jennifer,Kulesha Alona,Edirisinghe Dona I. U.,Chandrasekaran Siddarth,Rathee Parth,Prabhakar Rajeev,Makhlynets Olga V. 나노기술연구협의회 2022 Nano Convergence Vol.9 No.18

We have rationally designed a peptide that assembles into a redox-responsive, antimicrobial metallohydrogel. The resulting self-healing material can be rapidly reduced by ascorbate under physiological conditions and demonstrates a remarkable 160-fold change in hydrogel stiffness upon reduction. We provide a computational model of the hydrogel, explaining why position of nitrogen in non-natural amino acid pyridyl-alanine results in drastically different gelation properties of peptides with metal ions. Given its antimicrobial and rheological properties, the newly designed hydrogel can be used for removable wound dressing application, addressing a major unmet need in clinical care.
