Poly(vinylidene fluoride)/Plasma-Treated BaTiO3 Nanocomposites with Enhanced Electroactive Phase

        Ran Ding,Lei Gong,Ming-ming Li,Shu-hua Chen,Shi-ping Zhan,Xu-dong Sun,Cheng Zhang,Tao Shao 한국고분자학회 2018 Macromolecular Research Vol.26 No.11

Functional C=O and C-O groups are successfully fixated onto the surface of a high dielectric constant material barium titanate (BaTiO3) via non-thermal plasma. The strong dipole interaction exists between these functional groups and CH2 or CF2 groups of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), resulting in the enhancement of the electroactive γ-phase of PVDF/BaTiO3 nanocomposites on one hand; on the other hand the dispersion of BaTiO3 is enhanced in the PVDF matrix, where the smaller spherulite size and better hydrophilic property are observed in the PVDF/plasmatreated BaTiO3 nanocomposite, comparing with the untreated ones. Therefore, the PVDF/plasma-treated BaTiO3 nanoparticles exhibited higher dielectric constant and lower dielectric loss than the PVDF/BaTiO3 nanoparticles.

        Ding, Si-Ran,Li, Guang-Sheng,Chen, Si-Rui,Zhu, Feng,Hao, Jin-Ping,Yang, Fang-Xi,Hou, Zhuo-Cheng Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.7

Objective: According to market demand, meat duck breeding mainly includes 2 breeding directions: lean Pekin duck (LPD) and fat Pekin duck (FPD). The aim of the present study was to compare carcass and meat quality traits between 2 strains, and to provide basic data for guidelines of processing and meat quality improvement. Methods: A total of 62 female Pekin ducks (32 LPDs and 30 FPDs) were slaughtered at the age of 42 days. The live body weight and carcass traits were measured and calculated. Physical properties of breast muscle were determined by texture analyzer and muscle fibers were measured by paraffin sections. The content of inosine monophosphate (IMP), intramuscular fat (IMF) and fatty acids composition were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography, Soxhlet extraction method and automated gas chromatography respectively. Results: The results showed that the bodyweight of LPDs was higher than that of FPDs. FPDs were significantly higher than LPDs in subcutaneous fat thickness, subcutaneous fat weight, subcutaneous fat percentage, abdominal fat percentage and abdominal fat shear force (p<0.01). LPDs were significantly higher than FPDs in breast muscle thickness, breast muscle weight, breast muscle rate and breast muscle shear force (p<0.01). The muscle fiber average area and fiber diameter of LPDs were significantly higher than those of FPDs (p<0.01). The muscle fiber density of LPDs was significantly lower than that of FPDs (p<0.01). The IMF of LPDs in the breast muscle was significantly higher than that in the FPDs (p<0.01). There was no significant difference between the 2 strains in IMP content (p>0.05). The polyunsaturated fatty acid content of LPDs was significantly higher than that of FPDs (p<0.01), and FPDs had higher saturated fatty acid and monounsaturated fatty acid levels (p<0.05). Conclusion: Long-term breeding work resulted in vast differences between the two strains Pekin ducks. This study provides a reference for differences between LPD and FPD that manifest as a result of long-term selection.

Synthesis of g-C3N4/diatomite/MnO2 composites and their enhanced photo-catalytic activity driven by visible light

        Chen Ran-Ran,Ren Qi-Fang,Liu Yu-Xin,Ding Yi,Zhu Hai-Tao,Xiong Chun-Yu,Jin Zhen,오원춘 한국세라믹학회 2021 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.58 No.5

Herein, a novel visible-light-responsive g-C 3 N 4 /diatomite/MnO 2 composite was successfully fabricated through a simple redox reaction method. The structure and morphology of the sample are mainly characterized by X-ray diff raction (XRD), photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmis- sion electron microscopy (TEM), and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis). In this paper, the photo-catalytic activity of the sample was evaluated by degradation RhB under visible-light irradiation. The results shown that, compared with g-C 3 N 4 /diatomite composite, MnO 2 , g-C 3 N 4 , diatomite, the prepared g-C 3 N 4 /diatomite/2.5%MnO 2 composite exhibits bet- ter photo-catalytic activity and stability. At the same time, the eff ect of diff erent MnO 2 additions on the photo-catalytic activity of the composite material was further analyzed. The results indicated that the g-C 3 N 4 /MnO 2 /diatomite composites exhibit highest photo-catalytic activity when the adding amount of MnO 2 reached 2.5%. The degradation rate of the g-C 3 N 4 / diatomite/2.5%MnO 2 is 93% after recycling for three times, showing good stability and reusability. Moreover, the mechanism of catalytic performance enhancement also has been discussed.

Analytical Models for the Electric Potential, Threshold Voltage and Drain Current of Long-channel Junctionless Double-gate Transistors

        Zhihao Ding,Guang-Xi Hu,Ran Liu,Ling-Li Wang,Shuyan Hu,Xing Zhou 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.8

Analytical models for the electric potential, threshold voltage and drain current of long-channel junctionless (JL) double-gate (DG) field-effect transistors (FET) are presented. A regional method is used to solve the Poisson equation under different gate biases, and the electric potential is obtained. With the potential model, an analytical expression for the threshold voltage is achieved. An expression for the drain current is derived from the potential model. The analytical results are compared with simulations, and excellent agreements are observed. The models accurately describe the characteristics of JLDG FETs, and they are very helpful for the design and optimization of devices.

New power equalization modulation strategy for CHB seven‑level inverters

        Jun Gu,Run-Zhe Cai,Xiang-Yu Zhou,Chao Ding,Wei-Jian Wang 전력전자학회 2023 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.23 No.7

For cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel converters, the traditional in-phase disposition (IPD) modulation strategy has excellent harmonic elimination characteristics, but it leads to a single state of the switching tubes and unbalanced output power of each unit. In this paper, a new power equalization modulation strategy and its optimization are proposed, which solves the problem of power equalization, while taking into account the harmonic elimination performance of the output voltage and power equalization time. The new power equalization modulation strategy makes the carrier rotate in different carrier layers in a new interval, and the voltage of each unit is readjusted using the redundant switching states. Thus, the output power equalization can be achieved in a shorter time. While maintaining the output characteristics of the existing modulation strategy, the new modulation strategy reduces the power equalization time and preserves the harmonic elimination characteristics of IPD. In addition, the optimized modulation strategy reduces the number of carriers, lowering the difficulty of digital control. Finally, simulation and experimental results are used to verify the correctness and feasibility of the new power equalization modulation strategy and its optimization.

Deduction and exploration of the evolution and function of vertebrate GFPT family

        Wei Si-ang,Xu Ran,Ji Yu-yao,Ding Zhi-wen,Ding Zhi-wen 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.2

Background: Glutamine-fructose-6-phosphate aminotransferase (GFPT) is a key factor in the hexosamine metabolism pathway. It regulates the downstream factor O-GlcNAc to change cell function and plays an important role in the metabolism and immune process of tissues and organs. However, the evolutionary relationship of GFPT family proteins in vertebrates has not been elucidated. Objective: To deduce and explore the evolution and function of vertebrate GFPT family. Methods: 18 GFPT sequences were obtained from Homo sapiens (H. sapiens), Trachypithecus francoisi (T. francoisi), Mus musculus (M. musculus), Rattus norvegicus (R. norvegicus), Gallus gallus (G. gallus), Zootoca vivipara (Z. vivipara), Xenopus tropicalis (X. tropicalis), Danio rerio (D. rerio), Rhincodon typus (R. typus), Plasmodium relictum from National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). The physical and chemical characteristics and molecular evolution of GFPT family proteins and nucleic acid sequences were analyzed by ClustalX2, Gene Doc, MEGA-X, SMART, Datamonkey, R etc. RESULTS: Based on the neighbor-joining (NJ) phylogenetic tree and evolution fingerprints, GFPT family members of vertebrates can be divided into two groups: the GFPT1 group and the GFPT2 group. Seven positive selection sites were identified by IFEL and integrated methods mixed effects model of evolution (MEME) and fixed effects likelihood (REL). Finally, we predicted 28 phosphorylation sites and 18 ubiquitousness sites in the human GFPT1 sequence, 10 phosphorylation sites, and five ubiquitousness sites in GFPT2. Gene ontology (GO) analyzes the protein molecules and KEGG signaling pathways of vertebrates interacting with GFPT family proteins. Conclusions: Our work confirmed that higher animals GFPT family may have differentiated GFPT1 and GFPT2, which meets their own functional needs. This knowledge answers the question what the origin and evolution of GFPT family in vertebrates and provided the basis for disease treatment and function research of GFPT protein.

Experimental research on the mechanisms of condensation induced water hammer in a natural circulation system

        Sun, Jianchuang,Deng, Jian,Ran, Xu,Cao, Xiaxin,Fan, Guangming,Ding, Ming Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.11

Natural circulation systems (NCSs) are extensively applied in nuclear power plants because of their simplicity and inherent safety features. For some passive natural circulation systems in floating nuclear power plants (FNPPs), the ocean is commonly used as the heat sink. Condensation induced water hammer (CIWH) events may appear as the steam directly contacts the subcooled seawater, which seriously threatens the safe operation and integrity of the NCSs. Nevertheless, the research on the formation mechanisms of CIWH is insufficient, especially in NCSs. In this paper, the characteristics of flow rate and fluid temperature are emphatically analyzed. Then the formation types of CIWH are identified by visualization method. The experimental results reveal that due to the different size and formation periods of steam slugs, the flow rate presents continuous and irregular oscillation. The fluid in the horizontal hot pipe section near the water tank is always subcooled due to the reverse flow phenomenon. Moreover, the transition from stratified flow to slug flow can cause CIWH and enhance flow instability. Three types of formation mechanisms of CIWH, including the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability, the interaction of solitary wave and interface wave, and the pressure wave induced by CIWH, are obtained by identifying 67 CIWH events.

Larger bees facilitate the deposition of oilseed rape pollen (Brassica napus L.)

        Chang Hongcai,Wei Zhijun,Liu Ran,Ding Guiling,LI-JUN WAN,Huang Jiaxing 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.2

Oilseed rape is the third-largest source of vegetable oil and the second-largest source of protein meal in the world. Pollinators are vital in the production of oilseed rape. However, pollination efficiency could be influenced by the morphology and foraging behaviors of pollinators. To evaluate the effect of pollinator size and foraging behavior on pollination efficiency, the intertegular distances (ITDs) of five bumble bees (Bombus pyrosoma, B. lantschouensis, B. melanurus, B. sichelii and B. sibiricus) and two honey bees (Apis mellifera and A. cerana) were evaluated. Their foraging activities and single visit depositions (SVDs) on oilseed rape were observed and counted. The ITDs of bumble bees were significantly larger than honey bees (P < 0.05). The single-visit duration of A. mellifera (2.43 ± 0.06 s) was significantly longer than other bees (P < 0.05). The interval time of the A. cerana was longer than other bees (P < 0.05). Larger bees tended to deposit more pollen on stigmas at each visit than smaller bees. The interspecific ITD of bees had a positive effect on SVD (P < 0.001). There was no correlation between ITD and SVD among individuals of the same species. In conclusion, the size of bees had a positive impact on pollination efficiency. Bees with a greater ITD deposited substantially more pollen and had a significantly shorter interval between flowers. Understanding the foraging behavior and pollination efficiency of these bee species and developing habitats to support them should enable growers to achieve resilient production.
