Objectives: This study evaluated the efficacy of Endosolv-R and Xylene in softening epoxy resin based sealer after 1 to 2 min exposure. Materials and Methods: Sixty Teflon molds (6 mm x 1.5 mm in inner diameter and depth) were equally divided into 3 groups of 20 each. AH 26 (Dentsply/De Trey), AH Plus (Dentsply/De Trey), Adseal (Meta-Biomed) were manipulated and placed in the molds allotted to each group and allowed to set at 37℃ in 100% humidity for 2 wk. Each group was further divided into 2 subgroups according to the solvents used, i.e. Xylene (Lobachemie) and Endosolv-R (Septodont). Specimens in each subgroup were exposed to respective solvents for 1 and 2 min and the corresponding Vicker's microhardness (HV) was assessed. Data was analysed by Mauchly’s test and two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with repeated measures, and one-way ANOVA. Results: Initial hardness was significantly different among the three sealers with AH Plus having the greatest and Adseal having the least. After 2 min, Xylene softened AH Plus and Adseal sealer to 11% and 25% of their initial microhardness, respectively (p < 0.001), whereas AH 26 was least affected, maintaining 89.4% of its initial microhardness. After 2 min, Endosolv-R softened AH 26, AH Plus and Adseal to 12.7, 5.6 and 8.1% of their initial microhardness, respectively (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Endosolv-R was a significantly more effective short term softener for all the tested sealers after 2 min whereas Xylene was an effective short term softener against AH plus and Adseal but less effective against AH 26.

The present investigation was under taken to study whether the tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) of Daltons lymphoma (DL), a spontaneous transplantable murine T cell lymphoma can be activated to tumoricidal state by crude thymus extract. Intraperitoneal administration of thymus extract to DL-bearing mice resulted in activation of TAM with an enhanced IL-1, TNF and antigen presenting ability. It was found that treatment with thymus extract could also enhance the phagocytic and cytotoxic activity of TAM. However, only a marginal increase in arginase activity was observed. Till date to the best of our knowledge the effect of crude thymus extract on the activation of tumor associated macrophages has not been investigated, this study provides a new piece of information in the area of thymus therapy.

Numerical techniques are used to determine the radius of convexity of the starlike functions related to cardioid shaped bounded domain. In addition, radius constants of certain starlikeness associated with right half plane of various starlike functions are computed.
Effect of Indium Doping and Annealing on Photoconducting Property of Wurtzite Type CdS
Vineet Kumar Singh,Pratima Chauhan,Sheo Kumar Mishra,Rajneesh K Srivastava 대한금속·재료학회 2012 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.8 No.3
In this paper we observed the effect of doping and annealing on the dark current and anomalous photoconducting behavior of hexagonal wurtzite CdS, synthesized by solid state reaction method. Undoped CdS sample shows higher anomalous behavior in photoconductivity as well as contains larger dark current of 19 nA. With the doping of Indium in CdS, dark current decreases from 19 nA to 1 nA but the anomalous behavior is not completely removed. While, after annealing at 150°C for four hour, indium doped CdS sample shows good switching property with rise and decay time of 360 ± 10 & 322 ± 6 seconds respectively. The anomalous photoconducting behavior is completely removed from annealed sample. X-ray diffraction patterns confirm the existence of hexagonal wurtzite phase of indium doped and undoped CdS samples while energy dispersion X-ray spectrum exhibits the elemental presence of cadmium, indium & sulfur in the indium doped sample. UV-Visible absorption spectra show the blue shift in absorption edge on indium doping from 475 nm to 425 nm in comparison to undoped sample. Photoluminescence spectra confirm the indium doping and reveal that annealed CdS sample has lesser defects among other samples due to which annealed sample has best switching performance.

We determine the upper bounds on fourth order Hankel determinants H^(2)_4(f) and H^(3)_4(f) for the class S ∗ L of lemniscate starlike functions defined on the open unit disk which was introduced by Sokol and Stankiewicz in [17].
Sport-Related Injuries During One Academic Year in School Age Indian Children
( Jayati Sen ),( Satipati Chatterjee ),( Pratima Chatterjee ) 한국스포츠정책과학원(구 한국스포츠개발원) 2003 International Journal of Applied Sports Sciences Vol.15 No.2
This one year`s study involved five to fifteen year-old Indian children who experienced injuries during various sporting activities. It was recorded that children facing accidents during sports covered only 27.13, i.e., approximately 27% of the total accidents they faced during their childhood; out of which 52% were boys & 48% were girls. Among various sports kabaddi, the national game of India, caused the greatest number of injuries followed by handball & kho-kho. Collision was found to be the main cause of injury followed by falling to the ground. To save children from accidents, protective measures should be taken. Use of proper equipment, physical activities with advanced techniques, timely control of body, and lastly, modern coaching, might keep the children away from sport injuries.

Objectives: Literature has shown that micro-organisms contaminate gutta percha (GP) during storage and manipulation. Till date herbal extracts are not explored as an alternative medicament for pre-operative chairside disinfection of GP cones. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity and efficacy of lemon grass oil (LG), basil oil (BO), and obicure tea extract (OT) in disinfecting GP cones before obturation. Materials and Methods: Agar diffusion method was used to evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy of LG, BO, OT, and sodium hypochlorite (control) against common contaminants, namely, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans. One hundred and twenty GP cones were contaminated and cut into 2. First half was placed in the broth and incubated; whereas the second was treated with herbal extracts for 1 minute and then incubated for 24 hours in the broth. Any inhibition in bacterial growth was noted with presence/absence of turbidity. Two-way analysis of variance and χ2 test were used to assess the effectiveness of herbal extracts to decontaminate GP. Results: LG showed the highest inhibition zones (29.9 ± 6.9 mm) for all tested organisms, followed by OT extract (16.3 ± 1.8 mm), sodium hypochlorite (16.0 ± 1.6 mm), and BO (14.5 ± 5.3 mm). Statistically significant difference was observed between LG and other herbal extracts (p < 0.05). Conclusions: All extracts proved to be potential rapid chairside disinfectants of GP cones with LG showing the highest antimicrobial activity.

Fusion and gemination are developmental anomalies of teeth that may require endodontic treatment. Fusion may cause various clinical problems related to esthetics, tooth spacing, and other periodontal complications. Additional diagnostic tools are required for the diagnosis and the treatment planning of fused tooth. The present case report describes a case of unilateral fusion of a supernumerary root to an upper permanent central incisor with large periapical lesion in which a conservative approach was used without extraction of supernumerary tooth and obturated with mineral trioxide aggregate to reach a favorable outcome.
