Producing bio-based aromatic substrates is becoming increasingly of (industrial) interest. In this mechanisticwork, the gas phase conversion of the biomass tar chemical model compounds (5 wt% naphthalene/95 wt% 1-methylnaphthalene) over the different pristine/metal-modified zeolites in acontinuous flow fixed bed reactor was investigated. Bifunctional redox acid process catalysts were synthesizedby wet impregnation method. The effect of the W (/Ni) metal formulation additives to the pristineH-beta, H-USY, H-Y, and H-ZSM-5 in the hydrocracking, hydrogenation, and isomerizationtransformation reactions of the mixture under applied ambient pressure was firstly studied. Structure, texture, morphology, acidity, composition and properties were determined by various analytical techniques. Results showed that the highest catalytic activity with a comparison to others was establishedover the 20 wt% W-beta with 96.0 mol% of the selectivity to 2-methylnaphthalene, the 93.3 mol% reactedtotal reactant after the 24 h time on stream, where ethylene/propane were predominating (80.5 wt%), andfacile manufacturing scalability. Detailed characterization methodologies have revealed that after theloading of W onto H-beta_support, a uniform functional distribution of particles, the dealumination offramework and strong interaction phenomena were observed, which led to an increase in the amountof Brønsted/Lewis/reduction surface sites, and hence, increase stability of the catalyst. In addition, equilibrium coke formation was detected, decreasing all estimated rates, undergoing also consequentexternal deactivation, blocking pores, and its burning-off regeneration being needed. While both spentW-modified (20 wt%)/unmodified H-beta/ZSM-5 exhibited the lowest carbon quantity, the same freshmaterials possessed the uppermost hierarchy factors.
Urethral strictures after radiation therapy for prostate cancer

Urethral stricture after radiation therapy for localized prostate cancer is a delicate problem as the decreased availability of tissue healing and the close relation to the sphincter complicates any surgical approach. We here review the pathophysiology, dosimetry, and the disease specific aspects of urethral strictures after radiotherapy. Moreover we discuss different treatment option such as direct vision internal urethrotomy as well as techniques for open reconstruction with and without tissue transfer.

There are many studies related to the antioxidant activity of grape products; however, they concern only purple and white grape varieties. Up to now, there are no reports of studies on the Goethe rose grape variety, either on its antioxidant activity or on its phenolic and mineral quantification. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate in vitro and in vivo antioxidant activity, as well as to quantify total phenolic compounds, ascorbic acid, and mineral content, in a Goethe rose grape juice. The results obtained showed that the Goethe rose grape juice is a great polyphenol source, which contains catechin, epicatechin, and procyanidins ($B_1$, $B_2$, $B_3$, and $B_4$). Of all metals analyzed, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and iron showed the highest values. We found that this rose grape juice shows an important antioxidant activity in in vitro (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity) and in vivo (using the Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast cells) assays. The antioxidant activity could be explained by the significant phenolic content and ascorbic acid levels found in the juice. The results showed that rose grape juice is an excellent antioxidant source, which could contribute to the prevention of many diseases related to oxidative stress, such as atherosclerosis and Parkinson's disease.

Understanding the spatial pattern of G. molesta and the temporal variation of their patterns are important to develop and maintain pest management programs in fruit orchards. The overwintering larvae of G. molesta pupate early in the spring and new adults begin a flight for several reasons such as mating, seeking resources (food or shelter) and oviposition. It was known that G. molesta presented “low movement activity” and male G. molesta flight behavior was closely related to the proximity of its host crops. Unmated males remain near the site of emergence in order to find and copulate with unmated females. The fruit-bearing status of orchards are important factors for G. molesta movement. To elucidate the spatial distribution and temporal variation of G. molesta within and among orchards, pheromone traps targeting male G. molesta were used because the trap represent a reliable and economic tool for monitoring adult G. molesta populations. The study was conducted in two apple orchards (one is isolated from other fruit orchards and another is surrounded by apple orchards), Andong and in seven plum orchards, Uiseong, 2010. Using spatial analysis by distance indices, the spatial pattern of G. molesta in each sampling date was presented. In the study of the spatial pattern within apple orchard, the index of aggregation (Ia) of isolated orchard were presented >1, indicating an aggregated distribution pattern, from monitoring results. The spatial association between successive monitoring using X (the index of spatial association) was negative during spring season and after then the value was changed to positive. In the experiment of the spatial pattern among orchards, the index of aggregation was >1 in most monitoring date and the index of spatial association was negative during early and late growing season. Factors influencing the spatial-temporal dynamics of G. molesta are discussed.
