An Improved Approach to Ranking Web Documents

        Pooja Gupta,Sandeep K. Singh,Divakar Yadav,A. K. Sharma 한국정보처리학회 2013 Journal of information processing systems Vol.9 No.2

Ranking thousands of web documents so that they are matched in response to a user query is really a challenging task. For this purpose, search engines use different ranking mechanisms on apparently related resultant web documents to decide the order in which documents should be displayed. Existing ranking mechanisms decide on the order of a web page based on the amount and popularity of the links pointed to and emerging from it. Sometime search engines result in placing less relevant documents in the top positions in response to a user query. There is a strong need to improve the ranking strategy. In this paper, a novel ranking mechanism is being proposed to rank the web documents that consider both the HTML structure of a page and the contextual senses of keywords that are present within it and its back-links. The approach has been tested on data sets of URLs and on their back-links in relation to different topics. The experimental result shows that the overall search results, in response to user queries, are improved. The ordering of the links that have been obtained is compared with the ordering that has been done by using the page rank score. The results obtained thereafter shows that the proposed mechanism contextually puts more related web pages in the top order, as compared to the page rank score

      • Visual Quality Improvement of Medical Images using Pixel Reconstruction Followed by Gabor Enhancement Technique

Pooja Gupta,Kuldip Pahwa 보안공학연구지원센터(IJSIP) 2014 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.7 No.6

Today is an era of digital imaging. This can be viewed either in the field of photography or in the field of medical imaging. Digital imaging has improved the performance of picture quality. Detailed information can be recovered very quickly from any part of an image and this feature has become very useful in every field of imaging. This improvement in the field of medical imaging has given life to so many patients as diagnosis of disease has become very fast and easy. But many a times the image quality is not upto the mark, due to this reason; the doctors are not able to diagnose the disease. So this paper proposes a noval approach for improvement in quality of medical images using pixel reconstruction followed by Gabor filter enhancement technique. The experimental results are verified as improvement in PSNR of hexagonal pixel images as compared with square pixel images. The results show a large improvement in quality of digital imaging.

Comparison of Endoscopic and Histological Findings between Typical and Atypical Celiac Disease in Children

        Pooja Semwal,Raj Kumar Gupta,Rahul Sharma,Kapil Garg 대한소아소화기영양학회 2018 Pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology & nutrition Vol.21 No.2

Purpose: Celiac disease is a common non-communicable disease with varied presentations. Purpose of this study was to find the duodeno-endoscopic features in celiac disease and to compare duodeno-endoscopic and histological findings between typical and atypical celiac disease in children. Methods: Hospital based observational study was conducted at Sir Padampat Mother and Child Health Institute, Jaipur from June 2015 to May 2016. Patients were selected and divided in two groups- typical and atypical celiac disease based upon the presenting symptoms. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and duodenal biopsy was per-formed for serology positive patients. Results were analysed using appropriate statistical test of significance. Results: Out of 101 enrolled patients, 47.5% were male. Age ranged from 1 to 18 years. Study showed that 54.5% were typical and 45.5% were atypical. Patients presenting with atypical symptoms were predominantly of older age group. On endoscopy, scalloping, mosaic pattern, reduced fold height and absent fold height; and in histology, ad-vanced Marsh stage were significantly higher in the typical group. Conclusion: Awareness of atypical presentations as well as duodeno-endoscopic features may have considerable practical importance for the diagnosis of celiac disease in children. Scalloping, mosaic pattern, reduced fold height and nodularity are main endoscopic markers of celiac disease in children. Endoscopic markers of duodenal mucosa may be important in early diagnosis of celiac disease, in children subjected to endoscopy for atypical presentations or indication other than suspected celiac disease.

Neck dissection for oral squamous cell carcinoma: our experience and a review of the literature

        Pooja Rani,Yogesh Bhardwaj,Praveen Kumar Dass,Manoj Gupta,Divye Malhotra,Narottam Kumar Ghezta 대한구강악안면외과학회 2015 대한구강악안면외과학회지 Vol.41 No.6

Objectives: This article describes our experience with neck dissection in 10 patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma. Materials and Methods: Between January 2007 and October 2009, 10 patients underwent primary surgery for the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity. For patients with N 0 disease on clinical exam, selective neck dissection (SND [I-III]) was performed. In patients with palpable cervical metastases (N+), modified radical neck dissections were performed, except in one patient in whom SND (I-III) was performed. The histopath- ologic reports were reviewed to assess the surgical margins, the presence of extra-capsular spread, perineural invasion, and lymphatic invasion. Results: On histopathologic examination, positive soft tissue margins were found in three patients, and regional lymph node metastases were present in five of the ten patients. Perineural invasion was noted in five patients, and extra nodal spread was found in four patients. Regional recurrence was seen in two patients and loco-regional recurrence plus distant metastasis to the tibia was observed in one patient. During the study period, three patients died. Seven patients remain free of disease to date. Conclusion: Histopathological evaluation provides important and reliable information for disease staging, treatment planning, and prognosis. The philosophy of neck dissection is evolving rapidly with regard to the selectivity with which at-risk lymph node groups are removed. The sample size in the present study is small, thus, caution should be employed when interpreting these results.

Aedes aegypti container preference for oviposition and its possible implications for dengue vector surveillance in Delhi, India

        Pooja Prasad,Suman Lata,Sanjeev Kumar Gupta,Pawan Kumar,Rekha Saxena,Deepak Kumar Arya,Himmat Singh 한국역학회 2023 Epidemiology and Health Vol.45 No.-

OBJECTIVES: Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease globally transmitted by Aedes aegypti. The most effective method to prevent the transmission of the disease is proficient vector control. Understanding the breeding behaviour of the responsible vectors is very pertinent in this regard; therefore, the present study was conducted to understand Ae. aegypti behaviour regarding the selection of containers for oviposition in the megacity of Delhi. METHODS: A household survey in different localities within Delhi was carried out during 2018-2019. All available containers were inspected for the presence of immature Ae. aegypti. In entomological surveillance, the ovipositional preference of Aedes was computed using the breeding preference ratio, container index in the field, and laboratory settings, and associations of dengue cases with monthly variation in environmental factors and container type were also calculated. RESULTS: The household larval survey in 40 localities showed that 40% of 27,776 water-holding containers in 3,400 houses were plastic, followed by overhead tanks (26.2%), and coolers (12.1%). The most preferred breeding habitat was clay pots (9.3%), followed by metallic containers (8.5%) and solid waste (7.1%). A laboratory-based study showed that Aedes preferred clay containers (81.8%) over 4 other types of containers (plastic, paper, metal, and glass). CONCLUSIONS: The present study provides a rationale for using clay containers as a possible surveillance tool (ovitraps) or as a vector control tool. This information might aid researchers in developing novel traps and targeting preferred containers for larval control activities during transmission and non-transmission seasons.

Quantum Information Entropy and Entropy Squeezing of Isospectral Modified Hylleraas Plus Exponential Rosen Morse Potential and Isospectral Eckart Potential

        Pooja Thakur,Rama Gupta,Aarti Sharma,Anil Kumar 한국물리학회 2020 새물리 Vol.70 No.9

We have numerically evaluated the position space and momentum space information entropy of the isospectral Modified Hylleraas plus exponential Rosen Morse potential and established that each level can be re-arranged as a function of the deformation parameter. The information densities of this potential have been graphically demonstrated and their properties thoroughly analyzed. An asymmetric shape dependence on the values of quantum number (n; l) is observed for the position space information densities. The characteristic features of the information entropy in position and momentum space have been analyzed, and the lower bound of the sum of the entropies, expressed by using the Bialynicki-Birula and Mycielski inequality is satisfied. Compared to undeformed potential exhibiting squeezing phenomena in momentum space only the information entropy squeezing has been realized for position space, as well as momentum space, as a function of the deformation parameter with the choice of the same set of parameters. Interestingly, squeezed coherent states are obtained for the isospectral Eckart potential.

Quasi hemi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds

        Rajendra Prasad,Abdul Haseeb,Pooja Gupta 한국전산응용수학회 2022 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.40 No.3

The main purpose of the present paper is to introduce a brief analysis on some properties of quasi hemi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds. After discussing the introduction and some preliminaries about the Kenmotsu manifold, we worked out some important results in the direction of integrability of the distributions of quasi hemi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds. Afterward, we investigate the conditions for quasi hemi-slant submanifolds of a Kenmotsu manifold to be totally geodesic and later we provide some non-trivial examples to validate the existence of such submanifolds.
