박노찬,최원필,이희석,Park, No-chan,Choi, Won-pil,Lee, Hi-suk 대한수의학회 1990 大韓獸醫學會誌 Vol.30 No.2
An attempt was made to isolate Salmonella(S) organisms from a total of 4,587 fecal samples of birds during the period from May 1987 to March 1988, and serotype and biotypes of the isolates were also investigated. One hundred and sixty-six Salmonella strains were isolated from 151(3.3%) of 4,587 fecal samples of birds, and their serotype was all identified as S typhimurium var copenhagen. The positive samples of S typhimurium var copenhagen were 149 samples(5.1%) in pigeons and 2 samples (0.8%) in aquatic birds. No Salmonella was obtained from ducks, pheasant, and other birds. The isolation frequencies of S typhimurium var copenhagen from pigeons varied from 1.1 to 12.8% at 5 parks, it was higher in September and November. Biotypes of 166 S typhimurium var copenhagen strains isolated from pigeons and aquatic birds were all biotype 10 according to Brandis' method, and were biotype 25hi (78.3%), 27 hi (14.5%), 25 fhi (3.6%), 25 bhi (1.8%), 27 bhi (0.6%), 27 hiz (0.6%), and 9 hi (0.6%) according to Duguid's scheme. Appearance of different biotypes indicated the occurrence of exotic infection sources on the parks.

Lee, Kyeong Soo,Kim, Chang Suk,Park, Jong Heon,Hwang, Tae Yoon,Kim, Sang Won,Sim, Sung Bo,Lee, Kun Sei The Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular 2016 The Korean Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Vol.49 No.sup
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate longitudinal changes of the utilization of operational and surgical medical care inside and outside a metropolitan area over 10 years, analyzing the residential areas of patients and the locations of medical facilities for major cardiovascular surgery. Methods: Data analysis was conducted by classifying the addresses of patients and the locations of medical care facilities of metropolitan cities and provinces, using data from the National Health Insurance Corporation from January 2003 to December 2013. Results: There is serious concentration of major heart surgery to medical facilities in Seoul; this problem has not improved over time. There were differences in percentages of surgical procedures performed in the metropolitan areas according to major diseases. In the case of Busan and Daegu provinces, at least 50% of the patients underwent surgery in medical facilities in the city, but there are other regions where the percentage is less than 50%. In the case of provinces, the percentage of surgical procedures performed in medical facilities in Seoul or nearby metropolitan cities is very high. Conclusion: Policies to strengthen the regional capabilities of heart surgery and to secure human resources are required to mitigate the concentration of patients in the capital area. Many regional multi-centers must be designated to minimize unnecessary competition among regional university hospitals and activate a win-win partnership model for medical services.

Hur, Sung‐,Taek,Lee, Bo Ram,Gim, Min‐,Jun,Park, Kyung‐,Won,Song, Myoung Hoon,Choi, Suk‐,Won WILEY‐VCH Verlag 2013 ADVANCED MATERIALS Vol.25 No.21
<P>A liquid‐crystalline blue‐phase laser with a tunable photonic bandgap (PBG) of over 150 nm and a wide temperature range is demonstrated by Myoung Hoon Song and Suk‐Won Choi on p. 3002. A lasing peak shift of more than 100 nm is realized due to the large PBG shift of the liquid‐crystalline blue phase. The shift in the lasing wavelength was reversible during repeated temperature changes over the entire stability range of the liquid‐crystalline cubic blue phase. </P>

Won Young Han,In Youl Baek,Hyun Tae Kim,Jong Min Ko,Nam Suk Kang,Doo Chull Shin,Sung Taek Kang,Myung Gun Chung,Ki Won Oh,Sang Ouk Shin,Keum Yong Park,Duck Yong Suh,Jin Hwan Lee 한국육종학회 2007 한국육종학회지 Vol.39 No.3
A new black seed coat soybean cultivar, “Heugmi” was developed at the Yeongnam Agricultural Research Institute (YARI) in 2006. The goal to breed the black seed coat soybean is to develop the cultivar with high yield, lodging tolerance, resistant to disease such as soybean mosaic virus (SMV), and bacterial pustule and seed size. Heugmi was selected from the cross between Milyang 78, which was late maturing, susceptible to lodging and SMV and with large seed size and green cotyledon, and Milyang 68, which was middle maturing, resistant to lodging and SMV and with middle seed size and yellow cotyledon. The preliminary, advanced and regional yield trials for evaluation and selection of this cultivar were carried out from 2001 to 2006. It has determinate growth habit, purple flower, brown pubescence, black pod color, black seed coat, green cotyledon, spherical seed shape, oval leaf shape and middle seed size (24.8 grams per 100 seeds), and it was 2 days earlier in maturity than the check cultivar Cheongjakong. Heugmi was better in the seed quality of crude protein contents, sucrose and total sugar contents than the check cultivar. It also has been identified to have resistance to SMV which was the troublesome soybean diseases. The average yield of Heugmi was 2.53 ton per hectare in the regional yield trials carried out in seven locations of Korea from 2004 to 2006, which was 8 percent higher than the check cultivar Cheongjakong.

The BCAA group consumed BCAAs daily for at least 6 months, and the control group consumed a diet without BCAA. We analyzed the improvements based on the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score, CP score, incidence of cirrhosis-related complications, and event-free survival over 2 years. Among the 867 recruited patients, 307 (166 in the BCAA group and 141 in the control group) were analyzed. The BCAA group was divided into 3 subgroups, whose patients consumed 4.15 g, 8.3 g, or 12.45 g of BCAAs daily for the analysis. There were significant differences in the CP score, albumin, and hepatic encephalopathy between the 2 groups at baseline. After matching the propensity scores, we analyzed patients in the BCAA-12.45 g group (12.45 g of BCAAs daily, n = 41) and matched control group (n = 41). The MELD score significantly improved in the BCCA-12.45 g group compared to the matched control group (<I>P = .</I>004). The changes in the serum bilirubin level (<I>P = .</I>014) and CP score (<I>P = .</I>033) over time also differed significantly between the 2 groups. The incidence rates of cirrhosis-related complications (<I>P = .</I>973) and development of hepatocellular carcinoma (2 cases each) did not differ significantly between the 2 groups.</P><P>Long-term oral BCAA supplementation has beneficial effects in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis. A further large-scale prospective study is needed to delineate these beneficial effects.</P></▼2>
Molecular Marker Analysis for Resistance of Soybean Cultivars to Soybean Cyst Nematode
Won-Gyeong Park,Min-Jung Park,Jong-Il Chung,Mi-Suk Ko 韓國作物學會 2002 Korean journal of crop science Vol.47 No.4
Soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines Ichinohe; SCN) is an important soybean pest and the use of resistant cultivars is the effective method to reduce or eliminate SCN damage. However, breeding for SCN resistance is difficult and expensive by the oligogenic nature of the resistance and genetic variability in the pathogen. Fortunately, SCN resistance loci, rhg1 and Rhg4 are generally accepted as a necessity for the development of resistant genotypes using any source of resistance. In this study, resistance of 44 Korean soybean cultivars to SCN was tested using two molecular markers. Seonheukkong and Pokwangkong were the homozygous to rhg1 locus. Seven cultivars were susceptible to SCN based on Satt309 marker linked rhg1 locus. All Korean cultivars estimated in this study were recessive homozygous to Rhg4 locus and were susceptible in the PCR reaction using primer 548/563 linked to the Rhg4 locus conferring resistance to SCN race 3. Among 44 cultivars estimated, seven cultivars were susceptible to SCN in both Satt309 and primer 548/563 markers. Based on both Satt309 and primer 548/563 markers, there is no resistant cultivar to SCN in Korea. Therefore, SCN resistant cultivars need to be developed in the future. These two markers can be used for improving SCN resistant cultivars.

Purpose: To determine the prognostic and predictive value of liver volume in colorectal cancer patients with unresectable liver metastases. Materials and Methods: Sixteen patients received whole liver radiotherapy (WLRT) between January 1997 and June 2013. A total dose of 21 Gy was delivered in 7 fractions. Results: The median survival time after WLRT was 9 weeks. In univariate analysis, performance status, serum albumin and total bilirubin level, liver volume and extrahepatic metastases were associated with survival. The mean liver volume was significantly different between subgroups with and without pain relief (3,097 and 4,739 mL, respectively; p = 0.002). Conclusion: A larger liver volume is a poor prognostic factor for survival and also a negative predictive factor for response to WLRT. If patients who are referred for WLRT have large liver volume, they should be informed of the poor prognosis and should be closely observed during and after WLRT.
