        The purpose of this research is to understand the sex culture of college students by surveying the students' awareness and experience about sexual harassment and sexual assault, and their responses and opinions, and ultimately to provide basic data for in-campus programs and guidance against sexual harassment and assaults. To this end, the survey was composed of three parts; awareness on sexual harassment and sexual assaults, experience of sexual harassment or assault, and opinions on the consultation program on harassment and sexual assaults. The survey was conducted among 1,000 students in 9 colleges of Cheju National University (CNU), and analyzed the answers of 964 respondents. This research used SPSS statistical program to process data and conducted t-verification and F-verification. The results of the research are as follows. 1) The awareness on sexual harassment and assaults CNU students' common notions on sexual assaults, attitudes toward sexual relations, views on sexual harassment are a little different from the generally accepted ones, but lower than socially expected. In general, male students have more stereotypes on these matter sand take them less seriously than female students. Both of them have a man-oriented attitude. While female students take sexual harassment and sexual assaults as social problems, male students just take them as flirting. 2) Experience of sexual harassment and assaults After conducting a survey with three cases; committing experience, suffering experience, and experience of hearing of or seeing, there is no case in committing experience. In case of suffering sexual harassment or assaults, verbal, nonverbal, and physical cases are answered in order. In case of verbal harassment, female and male students suffer similarly, while more male students experience nonverbal, physical harassment and assaults, which shows that sexual harassment and assaults are happening irrespective sex. As to inflictors, strangers are the most. Sexual harassment and assaults occur more in other places rather than in campus, while in-campus cases are relatively less answered. In-campus cases are mostly between students, but there are cases where a staff member or a professor is an assailant, though very rare. About the reaction to sexual harassment and assaults, the highest number of students, male and female, answered they say "No" and ask to stop. Their reactions seem to be active and desirable. Most of them talk with their friends about the problem. 3) Opinion on the sexual harassment and assaults consultation center The level of awareness of CNU students about the center's regulations on sexual harassment and assaults cases is very low; therefore they said the center should give the priority to education for sexual assaults prevention. - As equally important as to resolve the cases of sexual harassment and assaults, there should be efforts to build a common perception on sexual harassment and assaults. To this end, education and discussion programs should be activated and continued to give students a right understanding of this issue. - In-campus sexual harassment and assaults are mostly between students, but there are cases where a staff member or a professor is an assailant, though very rare. Since such a case, if happening, is related to officials' duty and authority, it should be completely prevented. - Education program for the prevention of sexual harassment and assaults would be desirable to conduct in a small group consisting of friends or peers. - It is needed to widely inform members of the university about the regulations on sexual harassment and assaults. In this regard, compulsory and regular education should be offered to all the CNU students rather than one time campaign. - It would be desirable for the center to conduct all-year programs for the prevention of sexual harassment and assaults.

        교정학적 적용을 위한 초내식성 스테인리스강의 특성

        Various kinds of orthodontic appliances have been developed for ideal tooth movement during orthodontic treatment. The orthodontic appliances made of metals are bands, arch wires, brackets and miniscrews as orthodontic anchorage. Generally, these appliances are made of stainless steel, pure titanium, Ni-Ti and TMA with the proper biocompatibility. However, localized corrosion of these materials can frequently occur in the particular environment. Super stainless steels, recently developed, have good corrosion resistance to reduce metal ion release induced by many kinds of corrosion. Recently, it has been reported that nickel ion release from orthodontic appliances affect the prevalence of nickel sensitization; however, there has been some controversy about nickel hypersensitivity to orthodontic appliances containing nickel. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the microhardness, nickel ion release, corrosion resistance and cytotoxicity of 4 types of super stainless steels and 316L stainless steel as the control group according to nickel contents, and to determine the acceptability as the new material for various kinds of orthodontic appliances. All super stainless steels showed higher microhardness than 316L stainless steel, SR-3Mo showed especially the highest microhardness. In anodic polarization test, corrosion resistance was high in order of SR-50A, SFSS, SR-6DX, 316L stainless steel, SR-3Mo. There was no increase in nickel ion release from SR-50A, SR-6DX, 316L stainless steel with immersion time in artificial saliva; whereas there was some increase from SFSS and SR-3Mo with immersion time. All super stainless steels showed very low cytotoxicity regardless of nickel contents although SR-3Mo showed relatively higher cytotoxicity than the others. It is concluded that SR-50A among super stainless steels has the highest corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. It is undesirable to consider the alloys with high nickel content to release lots of nickel ion.

        The Antithrombotic and Fibrinolytic Effect of Natto in Hypercholesterolemia Rats

        Antithrombotic and fibrinolytic activity of natto was evaluated on platelet aggregation in vitro and in vivo. Natto showed inhibitory effects on platelet aggregation induced by adenosine 5’diphosphate (ADP) and collagen. Orally administered natto also showed fibrinolytic activity in hypercholesterolemia rats. Normal levels of natto, when administered for four weeks, shortened euglobulin clot lysis time (ECLT) and prolonged partial thromboplastin time (PATT) significantly compared to non-treated group. In addition, the natto treatment decreased total cholesterol in serum. These results showed that intake of normal levels of natto can elicit antithrombotic and fibrinolytic effects, suggesting its consumption may improve blood circulation.

        3T3-L1지방세포 및 제2형 당뇨모델(KK-A<SUP>y</SUP>)에서 잎새버섯(Grifola frondosa) 조다당체 추출물의 항당뇨 효과

        기존의 연구에서 보고된 잎새버섯의 항당뇨 효과에 대한 메카니즘을 설명하고자 본 연구에서는 잎새버섯의 인슐린 민감성 향상 제재로서의 가능성을 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 잎새버섯 열수추출물의 분획물을 분리하여 인슐린 저항성을 가진 3T3-L1 지방세포에서의 포도당 흡수 정도를 관찰하였다. 실험결과 HW-Ⅰ이 3T3-L1 지방세포의 인슐린 민감성을 향상시켜 세포 내로의 포도당 섭취를 대조군 대비 4.2배 향상시켰다. 제2형 당뇨 모델인 5주령 KK/A<SUB>y</SUB> 마우스를 3주간 적응시킨 뒤 HW-Ⅰ을 8주간 지유 식이 하면서 식이 섭취량, 음수 섭취량 및 체중변화를 관찰하였고 혈액중 포도당 농도, 혈장 인슐린 농도, 당화혈색소를 측정하였으며 결과는 다음과 같다. HW-Ⅰ 식이군은 control군과 비교하여 식이 섭취량 및 최종 체중간에는 유의적인 차이가 없었으나 음수 섭취량에 있어서는 control군에 비해 거의 2배정도 적은 섭취량을 보여 유의적인 차이를 나타내었다(p<0.001). 혈중 포도당 농도는 HW-Ⅰ 식이군의 경우 control군과 비교하여 식이 1주째 335.4±51.8 ㎎/dL로 유의적으로 낮은 혈당치를 나타내기 시작하여(p<0.01) 식이 8주째 311±96.8㎎/dL로 유의적인 혈당 억제 효과를 나타내었다(p<0.001). 혈장 인슐린 농도는 HW-Ⅰ 식이군의 경우 84.7±18.9 ng/㎖로 control군의 342.7±125 ng/㎖ 비교하여 24.7% 수준으로 유의적인 감소 효과를 나타내였다(p<0.001). 당화혈색소 농도는 HW-Ⅰ 식이군의 경우 8.99%로 control군의 9.87%보다 유의적인 감소 효과를 나타내었다(p<0.05). 이상에서 잎새버섯 열수추출물의 조다당체인 HW-Ⅰ이 인슐린 민감성 효과가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌으며 제2형 당뇨모텔인 KK-A<SUB>y</SUB> 마우스를 이용한 동물실험에서도 뚜렷한 혈당강하효과를 나타내어 인슐린 민감성 제재로 개발 할 수 있는 가능성을 보여 주었다. This study was performed to investigate the anti-diabetic mechanism of crude polysaccharides isolated from the fruiting bodies of Grifola frondosa. We treated 3T3-L1 adipocyte cells to observe whether the crude polysaccharides isolated from Grifola frondosa would stimulate insulin sensitivity. Significant insulin sensitizing activity was observed in the 3T3-L1 adipocytes, and giving the crude polysaccharide of Grifola frondosa with 1 nM of insulin caused glucose uptake to increase to a similar level as giving 50 nM of insulin alone. To confirm the mechanism for the anti-diabetic effect of the crude polysaccharides, we performed further examinations within KK-A<SUP>y</SUP> mice, an animal model of type 2 diabetes. The crude polysaccharides reduced blood glucose levels in the KK-A<SUP>y</SUP> mice for 2 weeks after feeding, and also significantly lowered plasma insulin levels. These results suggest that the anti-diabetic mechanism of the crude polysaccharide of Grifola frondosa is related to the enhancement of insulin sensitivity.
