The degree of autolysis and presence of cell-wall degrading enzymes in an anaerobic ruminal fungus, Piromyces communis OTSI, grown in liquid medium, was monitored to evaluate the effect of self-digestion on fungal biomass. After a 30 days incubation period fungal dry weight decreased by 45% and the cell wall component chitin decreased by 22%. Chitinase activity detected in the supernatant was mainly of the endotype and peaked at day 6 of the incubation. ${\beta}-1$, 3-glucanase was detected from day 4 and increased throughout the incubation period. Autolysis was a slow process, and under natural conditions it is unlikely that it plays a significant role in the degradation of the spent fungal vegetative stage in the rumen.
SUPER LOW SPEED CONTROL FOR LIM
Y.Ogino,K.Abe,K.Ohishi,M.Nakaoka,H.Fukuda,Y.Takakado,K.Nakano,Y.Murakami 전력전자학회 1992 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.1992 No.4
This paper proposes the super low speed control method for LIM (Linear Induction Motor). The feasibly-proposed control method is based on the vector-control strategy using the current controlled VVVF inverter. Using this control implementation, both the quick speed response and the smooth thrust characteristics are realized in the super low speed range. The experimental results provide its desired operating characteristics in this system.<br/>
Origin of Ultrahigh Dielectric Constants for Barium Titanate Nanoparticles

Barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanoparticles with various particle sizes from 17 to 1,000 nm were prepared by using the 2-step thermal decomposition method of barium titanyl oxalate under various degree of vacuum. Various characterizations revealed that these particles were impurity-free, defectfree, dense BaTiO3 nanoparticles. When the degree of vacuum was high (pressure of 150 Pa at 650 C), the dielectric constant of BaTiO3 particles with a size of around 60 nm exhibited a maximum of around 15,000. On the other hand, when the degree of vacuum was low (pressure of 400 Pa at 650 C), no dielectric maximum was observed. To explain this size dependence, we precisely investigated a particle structure by using synchrotron radiation. As a result, the particles were always composed of two layers, i.e., a surface cubic layer and a bulk tetragonal layer, and the thickness of the surface cubic layer decreased with increasing degree of vacuum during the preparation of BaTiO3 nanoparticles. Thus, we confirmed that the surface structure was an important factor in determining the dielectric properties of BaTiO3 nanoparticles.

To study the full health effects of parental radiation exposure on the children of the atomic bomb survivors, the Radiation Effects Research Foundation developed a cohort of 76,814 children born to atomic bomb survivors (F1 generation) to assess cancer incidence and mortality from common adult diseases. In analyzing radiation-associated health information, it is important to be able to adjust for sociodemographic and lifestyle variations that may affect health. In order to gain this and other background information on the F1 cohort and to determine willingness to participate in a related clinical study, the F1 Mail Survey Questionnaire was designed with questions corresponding to relevant health, sociodemographic, and lifestyle indicators. Between the years 2000 and 2006, the survey was sent to a subset of the F1 Mortality Cohort. A total of 16,183 surveys were completed and returned: 10,980 surveys from Hiroshima residents and 5,203 from Nagasaki residents. The response rate was 65.6%, varying somewhat across parental exposure category, city, gender, and year of birth. Differences in health and lifestyle were noted in several variables on comparison across city and gender. No major differences in health, lifestyle, sociodemographics, or disease were seen across parental exposure categories, though statistically significant tests for heterogeneity and linear trend revealed some possible changes with dose. The data described herein provide a foundation for studies in the future.

We observed the thermal transitions of SiO (J=I-0, 2-1) and $^{29}SiO$ (J=l-O) toward the Sgr A molecular clouds. The distribution and the velocity structure of SiO are very similar to previous results for 'quiet' interstellar molecules. We think· that the SiO has been well mixed with other molecules such as $H_2$ which may indicate that the formation of Sgr A molecular clouds was affected by the activities, such as shock waves or energetic photons, from the Galactic center in large scales. The total column density of SiO is about $4.1\times10^{14} cm^{-2}$ and the fractional abundance $SiO/H_2$ appears to be about 10 times larger than those of other clouds in the central region of our galaxy. The derived values are thought to be lower limits since the optical depths of the observed SiO lines are not very thin. The formation of SiO has been known to be critically related to shocks, and our results provide informative data on the environment of our Galactic center.
