WILKER AND HUYGENS TYPE INEQUALITIES FOR SOME ELEMENTARY FUNCTIONS AND EULERIAN NUMBERS
E. Neuman 장전수학회 2015 Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics Vol.25 No.2
Inequalities involving sums of powers of functions and their inverse functions are established. Functions in question include sin, tan, sinh and tanh. Also, an inequality for the sum of powers of quotients of the Eulerian numbers are obtained.
Gut Microbiota in Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis
( Manuela Neuman ) 대한간학회 2017 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2017 No.1
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a chronic liver condition characterized by insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and fat accumulation in the liver that may cause hepatic inflammation and progressive scarring leading to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and irreversible liver damage (cirrhosis). The human microbiota is intensively studied in conjunction with its role in producing endotoxin (lypopoly-sacharidae) that arrive via the portal vein to the liver and sensitize the liver to inflammatory lipotoxic effects of obesity. As a result, there has been increased recognition of the need to assess and closely monitor individuals for risk factors of components of NAFLD and NASH, as well as the severity of these conditions using biomarkers. AIMS: 1-To review the biomarkers used to diagnose and define the severity of NAFLD and nash and 2-to define the role of microbiota in this process. RESULTS: Emerging biomarkers, such as apolipoprotein A1, apolipoprotein B, leptin, adiponectin, free fatty acids, ghrelin and tumour necrosis factor-alpha, have been used in our laboratory as tools that could provide valuable complementary information to that obtained from traditional biomarkers. Moreover, markers of cell death and mitochondrial dysfunction (cytokeratins) represent powerful predictors of risk. For biomarkers to be clinically useful in accurately diagnosing and treating disorders, age-specific reference intervals that account for differences in sex and ethnic origin are a necessity. Moreover the diet and microbiome components have a specific role in changing, preventing or delaying the disease progression. CONCLUSIONS: The present presentation attempts to provide a comprehensive analysis of the emerging risk biomarkers of NAFLD and NASH, and to use the clinical significance and analytical considerations of each biomarker pointing out sentinel features of disease progression.
BOUNDS FOR THE QUOTIENTS OF DIFFERENCES OF CERTAIN BIVARIATE MEANS
EDWARD NEUMAN,Jozsef Sandor 장전수학회 2013 Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics Vol.23 No.1
Bounds for the quotients of differences involving the Schwab-Borchardt mean and the lemniscatic mean are obtained. Inequalities involving means such as logarithmic mean, two Seiffert means and other means are also derived.
INEQUALITIES INVOLVING EULERIAN NUMBERS
EDWARD NEUMAN 장전수학회 2013 Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics Vol.23 No.2
Inequalities involving Eulerian numbers are established. They are obtained utilizing a known fact that the numbers in ques-tion are proportional to values of the forward B-splines at their knots. Logarithmic concavity of this class of splines plays a crucial role in this paper.
Early Childhood Policies in Sub-Saharan Africa: Challenges and Opportunities
Michelle J. Neuman,Amanda E. Devercelli 육아정책연구소 2012 International Journal of Child Care and Education Vol.6 No.2
In recent years, increasing priority has been placed on the development of national intersectoral early childhood development (ECD) policies in Sub-Saharan Africa. This paper reviews the role of national ECD policies to promote young children’s access to key early childhood services. We discuss the proliferation of national ECD policies in Sub-Saharan Africa in the last decade and argue that for most countries, these documents can be useful, but are not sufficient without proper implementation and enforcement. We look specifically at the different ECD policies and institutional arrangements in four countries in East Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and draw out some cross-country lessons for moving from policy development to implementation.
