A novel, simple and rapid single and multi-step cloud point extraction procedure was developed for theselective and simultaneous preconcentration of silver, cadmium and nickel in real samples prior to theirdetermination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Dithizone was used as neutral hydrophobiccomplexing agent. Separation of understudy metals can be achieved by controlling the pH value of theextraction system. Evaluation of the two CPE methods was checked by paired t-test, which indicated anon-significant difference. It was successfully applied to the real water sample. Certified referencematerials were used for the accuracy of the green extraction methods. The regression equation for thecalibration curve was linear in the range of 10–150 mg L 1 for Ag, 5–100 mg L 1 for Cd, 10–200 mg L 1 forNi. Relative standard deviation (RSD%) values were found to be lower than 2.5% for all elements. Enhancement factor (EF) and limit of detection (LOD) values were found in the range of 41–58 and 0.27–1.12 mg L 1, respectively.

Simple, rapid and miniaturized portable micropipette tip-syringe solid phase microextraction methodwas developed for speciation of vanadium in water and food samples. Tetra ethylene pentaminefunctionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes were synthesized and packed in micropipette tip-syringesystem. The surface morphology of adsorbent was characterized, and the effective factors that influencethe efficiency of developed method such as pH, amount of adsorbent, concentration of acid solution fordesorption cycles were studied. The V(V) could be adsorbed on the modified adsorbent surface with tetraethylene pentamine, while V(IV) could not be retained. The assay of V(IV) was based on subtractingvalues of V(V), from total vanadium. The extracted total vanadium and V(V) were injected directly intothe electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry for analysis. Enhancement factor and detection limitwere found 50 and 0.008 mg L 1, respectively. Accuracy of the method was checked by analysis of certifiedreference materials. The developed method was applied to water and food samples.
The Nexus between Islamic Label and Firm Value: Evidence from Cross Country Panel Data
Naeem ULLAH,Abdul WAHEED,Nida AMAN 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.4
This research uses a panel data set of selected developed and emerging economies to investigate the relationship between firm value and the Islamic label. A low-debt company is a proxy for excellent governance, and good governance has a significant positive impact on a company’s valuation. We can claim that the Islamic label may also be a proxy for excellent governance and will significantly impact a company’s economic value because it reflects low debt Sharia-compliant companies. To explore this relationship, cross-country data from non-financial enterprises in Pakistan, the United States, Malaysia, and Indonesia was acquired from 2010 to 2015. The study’s findings indicate that the Islamic label has a positive significant impact on the firm’s worth in the whole sample, including all countries. With the exception of the United States, we have also collected the same information at the country level. We also discovered that the corporate governance index at the firm level has a positive significant impact on firm value. The findings show that the Islamic label reflects good governance and hence can be used as a proxy for good governance. The analysis differentiates between Islamic labeled and conventional enterprises in developed and emerging nations, adding to our understanding of who contributes to enhanced corporate financial performance.

A novel restricted access sorbents based micro solid phase extraction (RAS-mSPE) for the extraction ofheavy metal from biological samples has been developed. Cadmium (Cd) and manganese (Mn) weredirectly extracted skipping the tedious, time consuming and expensive sample preparation stepexcluding all of the existing proteins. Sorbent’s (activated carbon cloths) surface was modified withbovine serum albumin through glutaraldehyde to make restricted access sorbent (RAS). Differentvariables affecting the extraction efficiency were selected for optimization. The limits of detectionobtained for Cd and Mn were 0.252 and 0.214 mg L 1, respectively. Analyte recoveries in fortified humanwhole blood serum and milk samples were found in the range of 90.3–103.9%. The procedure waseffectively used for Cd and Mn extraction in real samples devoid of any pretreatment step.

We developed a new method three phase liquid–liquid microextraction (TPLLME) for simultaneous speciation of vanadium. This efforts were launched to know the species and aqueous transport chemistry of the binary V-(1-(2-Pyridylazo)-2-naphthol) complex across the interface of the three phases. Various analytical parameters were optimized. The limit of detection (LOD) was 0.034 mg L 1 and 0.028 mg L 1 for V(V) and V(IV) with preconcentration factor of 100. Relative standard deviation (RSD) was found 4.32% for V(V) and 4.22% for V(IV). The proposed method was applied to species of vanadium successfully in sea water and tap water samples. The method was also applied to certified reference material and food samples for total vanadium determination.

A green non-dispersive ionic liquid based microextraction (ND-ILmE) method was proposed for thepreconcentration of trace levels of copper (Cu2+) in artificial saliva extract (ASE) of smokeless tobaccoproducts (SLT). A 100 cm long, narrow glass column containing aqueous solution of Cu/ASE was used toincrease phase transfer ratio by providing more contact area between two medium, which drasticallyimprove the recovery of Cu-PAN complex into ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluor-ophosphate [C4mim][PF6]. At optimum experimental conditions, the detection limit and theenhancement factor were found to be 0.042 mg L 1 and 85, respectively. This method was successfullyapplied to real samples.

A new method based on modification of cloud point extraction for simultaneous enrichment ofcadmium, lead and copper in water and fish muscle samples was proposed. The extraction efficiency bymodified cloud point extraction (m-CPE) was compared with conventional cloud point extraction (c-CPE)method. The procedure for both CPE methods was comprised of formation of metal complexes with ahydrophobic chelating agent, dithizone, followed by entrapment of the chelates in a nonionic surfactant,Triton X-114. For c-CPE, the surfactant rich phase was treated with ethanolic solution of nitric acid andanalyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrometer (FAAS). Whereas for m-CPE, aqueous nitric acid wasused to back extract the metal ions from the surfactant rich phase and finally determined. The efficiencyof the methods was tested by analyzing certified reference material and standard addition to a realsample. All the experimental parameters were optimized. At optimized experimental conditions, preconcentration and enhancement factors were 62.5 and 78.0 to 83.0 respectively for m-CPE, 25.0 and56.0% higher than that of c-CPE. This improvement might be due to elimination of the effects ofsurfactant on the signal of analytes by FAAS. The developed method of m-CPE was applied successfullyfor analysis of the selected heavy metals in water and muscle tissues samples of fish of different lakes inSindh, Pakistan.
