We studied the relationship between a civil affair occurrence of bad smell and meteorological conditions around Seongseo district for recent 2 years. The results were as follows; (1) The civil affair occurrence days of bad smell were concentrated from May to August. (2) Daily mean temperatures were mostly 20~28℃ and daily mean relative humidities were 60~80%. (3) Wind speeds were mostly less than 2m/s(75%). and wind directions were southerly winds(50%). It was hardly occurred for relatively well-ventilated conditions in cases of wind speeds 2m/s over. And the Lagrangian particle dispersion model were used to figure out the transport route in a civil affairoccurrence days of bad smell. It was found that the south-western winds transported the bad smelling materials from Jungni-dong(the place of source) to the housing complex located along a piedmont district.

We measured general marital adjustment of the housewives who ilve in Daegu. We analysed marital affectional expression, cohesion, consensus and satisfaction and also analysed marital adjustment according to the level of education or length or marriage. The results are as follows; 1. The level of general marital adjustment of the urban housewives was medium. 2. According to factor analysis, the level of marital affectional expression was medium, the level of marital satisfaction and consensus was high, and the level of cohesion was low. 3. The more educated, the higher the degree of marital adjustment in general. 4. The marital adjustment was lowest in housewives whose length of marriage was 9-11 years. The second lowest were 3-5 years and 21-23 years. The highest was 15-17 years.

The purpose of this was to investigate the relationship between literary environment within a household and emotional quotient of a infant. The questions of this research is like followings First, Is the emotional quotient of infants be different according to gender and educational background of parents? Second, Is the literacy environment of a household have differences according to gender and educational background of parents? Third, Is the literacy environment of a household related to the emotional quotient of infants each other? The measurement tool of the literacy environment of a household used for question are which is made up of 55 questions divided by 4 variables. I used only an emotional quotient sheet for infants produced by Boung-lae Lee, which is one of the tool for measurement of emotional quotient of infants. The subjects of this research include 175 infants aged from 5 to 7 and 175 parents. So the total number comes to 355. The methods of analysis for this study are t-test and correlation of Pearson. The findings were as follows: First, There were significant differences in the scores of literacy enviorment according to the children's sex. Second, There were no significant differences in the scores of emotional intelligence according to the children's sex, parent's educational level. Third, There were significant correlations between the literacy enviorment and self requlation of emotional intelligence.

Ankyrins are a ubiquitously expressed family of intracellular adaptor proteins involved in targeting diverse proteins to specialized membrane domains in both the plasma membrane and the endoplasmic reticulum. We described here that the C-terminal domain of ankyrin-B interact specifically with Z-line portion of titin in yeast two-hybrid analysis, in vitro pull-down assays and localization experiments in COS-7 cells. In this study we provide the first experimental evidence that Z-line portion of titin is necessary for the localization of ankyrin-B and ankyrin-B links between the sarcolemma and the myofibril in costameres.
Whitening Effect of Hizikia fusiformis Ethanol Extract and Its Fractions

멜라닌 생합성은 tyrosinase의 효소적 산화반응에 의해 일어난다. 톳(Hizikia fusiformis)의 미백효과를 검증하기 위하여 메탄올, 헥산, 부탄올 및 물을 용매로 이용한 분획과정을 통해 톳 에탄올 추출물로부터 분획물을 제조하였다. 에탄올 추출물과 분획물들을 대상으로 B16F10 흑색종 세포에서 tyrosinase 활성 저해효과 및 멜라닌 생합성 억제효과를 평가하였다. 생쥐의 에탄올 추출물 및 수층 분획물은 미백효과를 나타냈지만, 세포독성은 나타내지 않았다. 에탄올 추출물은 시료들 중에서 가장 높은 미백활성을 보였다. 에탄올 추출물은 100 μg/ml의 농도에서 arbutin 10 μg/ml의 활성보다 높은 저해활성을 보였으나, kojic acid 10 μg/ml의 활성보다는 낮은 저해 활성을 보였다. 또한, 메탄올, 헥산, 부탄올 및 수층 분획물은 100 μg/ml의 농도에서 arbutin 10 μg/ml의 활성과 유사한 저해활성을 보였다. 항산화 활성은 L-ascorbic acid를 양성 대조군으로 하여 수치를 비교하여 나타냈다. 에탄올 추출물 및 수층 분획물의 DPPH 라디칼 소거활성은 다른 시료들보다 비교적 높게 나타났다. 또한, 에탄올 추출물및 수층 분획물은 500 μg/ml의 농도에서 LPS에 의해 유도된 iNOS 발현을 각각 82와 80% 감소시켰다. 이러한 결과들로 톳의 에탄올 추출물과 수층 분획물은 미백효과 및 피부 보호효과를 가지는 화장품 소재로 이용 가능할 것으로 기대된다. Melanin synthesis is catalyzed by tyrosinase. To investigate the whitening effect of Hizikia fusiformis, fractions from ethanol extract of H. fusiformis were prepared by a systematic fractionation procedure with solvents such as methanol, hexane, butanol, and H2O. The ethanol extract and its fractions were then subjected to evaluate the inhibitory effects on the tyrosinase activity and melanin synthesis in murine B16F10 melanoma cells. The ethanol extract and aqueous fraction exhibited a whitening effect with no cytotoxicity. The ethanol extract showed the highest whitening effect among the samples. The inhibitory effect of 100 μg/ml of ethanol extract was higher than that of 10 μg/ml of arbutin, but it was lower than that of 10 μg/ml of kojic acid. Furthermore, the inhibitory effects of 100 μg/ml of methanol, hexane, butanol, and aqueous fractions were similar to those of 10 μg/ml of arbutin. The antioxidant activities were examined by comparing the results with that of ascorbic acid as a positive control. The ethanol extract and aqueous fraction showed relatively higher DPPH radical-scavenging activities compared with the other samples. Furthermore, 500 μg/ml of ethanol extract and aqueous fraction diminished LPS-induced iNOS expression to 82 and 80%, respectively. These results suggest that ethanol extract and aqueous fraction of H. fusiformis could be used as cosmetic ingredients for whitening and skin protection effects.

Injectable RGD-bioconjugated Mussel Adhesive Proteins (RGD-MAPs) composite hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) hydrogels provide local periodontal tissue for bone filling in periodontal surgery. Previously we developed a novel type of injectable self-supported hydrogel (2 mg/ml of RGD-MAPs/HPMC) based porcine nano hydroxyapatite (MPH) for dental graft, which could good handling property, biodegradation or biocompatibility with the hydrogel disassembly and provided efficient cell adhesion activity and no inflammatory responses. Herein, the aim of this work was to evaluate bone formation following implantation of MPH and collagen membrane in rabbit calvarial defects. Eight male New Zealand rabbits were used and four circular calvarial defects were created on each animal. Defects were filled with different graft materials: 1) collagen membrane, 2) collagen membrane with MPH, 3) collagen membrane with bovine bone hydroxyapatite (BBH), and 4) control. The animals were sacrificed after 2 and 8 weeks of healing periods for histologic analysis. Both sites receiving MPH and BBH showed statistically increased augmented volume and new bone formation (p < 0.05). However, there was no statistical difference in new bone formation between the MPH, BBH and collagen membrane group at all healing periods. Within the limits of this study, collagen membrane with MPH was an effective material for bone formation and space maintaining in rabbit calvarial defects.

Purpose: This clinical pilot study was performed to determine the effectiveness of dual-energy cone-beam computed tomography (DE-CBCT) in measuring bone mineral density (BMD). Materials and Methods: The BMD values obtained using DE-CBCT were compared to those obtained using calibrated multislice computed tomography (MSCT). After BMD calibration with specially designed phantoms, both DE-CBCT and MSCT scanning were performed in 15 adult dental patients. Three-dimensional (3D) Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine data were imported into a dental software program, and the defined regions of interest (ROIs) on the 3-dimensional surface-rendered images were identified. The automatically-measured BMD values of the ROIs (g/㎤), the differences in the measured BMD values of the matched ROIs obtained by DE-CBCT and MSCT 3D images, and the correlation between the BMD values obtained by the 2 devices were statistically analyzed. Results: The mean BMD values of the ROIs for the 15 patients as assessed using DE-CBCT and MSCT were 1.09±0.07 g/㎤ and 1.13±0.08 g/㎤, respectively. The mean of the differences between the BMD values of the matched ROIs as assessed using DE-CBCT and calibrated MSCT images was 0.04±0.02 g/㎤. The Pearson correlation coefficient between the BMD values of DE-CBCT and MSCT images was 0.982 (r=0.982, P<0.001). Conclusion: The newly developed DE-CBCT technique could be used to measure jaw BMD in dentistry and may soon replace MSCT, which is expensive and requires special facilities.
