Ngoc Linh ginseng is one of the most valuable endemic medicinal herbs in Vietnam. In this study, Ngoc Linh ginseng callus was fermented by Lactobacillus plantarum ATCC 8014 (at 6, 7, and 8 log CFU/ml) to evaluate the extraction efficiency of bioactive compounds. The post-fermentation solution was spray-dried using maltodextrin with or without Stevia rebaudiana (3% and 6% v/v) as the wall material. Bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, polysaccharides, and total saponins, and L. plantarum viability during fermentation and after spray-drying, as well as under simulated gastric digestion, were evaluated in this study. The results showed that probiotic density had a significant effect on bioactive compounds, and L. plantarum at 8 log CFU/ml showed the best results with a short fermentation time compared to other tests. The total content of polyphenols, polysaccharides, and saponins reached 5.16 ± 0.18 mg GAE/g sample, 277.2 ± 6.12 mg Glu/g sample, and 4.17 ± 0.15 mg/g sample, respectively after 20 h of fermentation at the initial density of L. plantarum (8 log CFU/ml). Although there was no difference in the particle structure of the preparation, the microencapsulation efficiency of the bioactive compound in the samples containing S. rebaudiana was higher than that with only maltodextrin. The study also indicated that adding S. rebaudiana improved the viability of L. plantarum in gastric digestion. These results showed that S. rebaudiana, a component stimulating probiotic growth, combined with maltodextrin as a co-prebiotic, improved the survival rate of L. plantarum in simulated gastric digestion.

This paper investigates the impact of the macroeconomy on Vietnam real estate market (REM). The research data were collected by the authors on a quarterly basis, from the third quarter of 2004 to the last counterpart of 2020. The authors utilize the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. The results reveal that REM is negatively influenced by the macroeconomy (interest rate and global crisis) in the short run and long run. This result is completely consistent with the wealth effect theory, the Austrian Business Cycle Theory (ABC), as well as the Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT). However, the findings in this paper are valuable empirical evidence on the impact of the macroeconomy on REM in Vietnam, a developing country with relatively nascent REM. In particular, this study has achieved novelty compared to previous studies by finding the negative impact of the global crisis on REM, where the global crisis is defined to include the global financial crisis and the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic crisis. Based on this, Vietnam needs to operate macroeconomic policies flexibly and in accordance with each period in order to develop REM in a stable and sustainable manner.

The ability of chitosan beads modified with histidine and Saccharomyces cerevisiae using glutaraldehyde as a crosslinking agent (SC-HIS-CCBs) for the biosorption of phenol was studied. The surface of SC-HIS-CCBs was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. Batch biosorption experiments using the SC-HIS-CCBs were then performed by varying contact time, solution pH (2.0 ~ 7.0), and initial phenol concentration (25 ~ 250 mg/L). The isotherm and kinetic data were fitted by suitable equations including the Langmuir, Freundlich, pseudo-firstorder, and pseudo-second-order equations. Thermodynamic parameters of phenol biosorption on the SC-HIS-CCBs were calculated. Desorption of phenol from the loaded SCHIS- CCBs was performed with NaOH solution. The biosorption capacity of phenol of 28.4 mg/g on the SCHIS- CCBs at pH 2.0 and 313 K, determined by the Langmuir equation, indicated the promising potential of such modified chitosan biosorbents.

Two new composites from synthetic clay-like materials and carbon spheres were developed. Layered doubledhydroxides (LDH) were synthesized from the coprecipitation of Mg2+ and Al3+ ions. Spherical hydrochar (SH) wasprepared from pure glucose through hydrothermal carbonization at 190 oC. The composite LDH–SH was synthesizedthrough a simple hydrothermal method of the mixture of LDH and SH. Another composite, LDO-SB, was directly preparedthrough the carbonization of LDH-SH at 500 oC. Under such high temperature, LDH was converted to layereddoubled oxides (LDO), and SH was transferred to spherical biochar (SB). Those materials were characterized by chemicalstability, surface morphology and element composition, crystal structure, surface functional group, and texturalcharacteristic. They were applied for removing cationic dye (methylene blue; MB) and anionic dye (Congo red; CR)under different pH solutions. Three adsorption components—kinetics, isotherm, and thermodynamics—were conductedunder batch experimenters. Results demonstrated that the LDH or LDO particles were assembled on the surfaceof SH or SB, respectively. The surface area, total pore volume, and average pore width of LDH–SH and LDO-SBwere 58.5 and 198m2/g, 0.319 and 0.440 cm3/g, and 21.8 and 8.89 nm, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacityof the materials, calculated from the Langmuir model, at 30 oC for CR and MB dyes was 1589 and 78.6mg/g (LDOSB)and 499 and 226mg/g (LDH-SH), respectively. The composites exhibited a higher affinity to anionic than cationicdyes, which resulted from the great contribution of the clay-like materials. Therefore, they can serve as a promisingcomposite for the decolorization of wastewater.
Relationships between Real Estate Markets and Economic Growth in Vietnam
My-Linh Thi Nguyen,Toan Ngoc Bui,Thang Quyet Nguyen 한국유통과학회 2019 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.6 No.1
This study analyses the relationship between the real estate market and economic growth in Vietnam, a country with a fledgling real estate market. Research data included economic growth rate and growth rate of the real estate market in Vietnam. The research used quarterly data for the period from 2005: Q1 to 2018: Q1. With the characteristics of Vietnam, there has been no real estate index up to now; therefore, the research used data on growth rates of the real estate market. In addition, the real estate market in Vietnam is still young, so the data series is very short, which is a limitation of this research. With qualitative and quantitative methods especially with the Vector Auto Regressive (VAR) model; the results of the study indicate new findings, unlike previous studies, including: (1) The real estate market positively impacts Vietnam's economic growth, most noticeably in the second quarter lag and the fourth quarter lag, and then its trend impacts inversely; (2) The real estate market and economic growth in Vietnam have fluctuated over time with many risks that are affected by the past shocks of these factors. From these ndings, we proposed some managerial implications for managing the real estate market with economic growth in Vietnam sustainably.

In the context of the need to ensure appropriate signalling of the publication of high-quality, international-calibre publications in Vietnam, as well as new policies to improve the quality and effectiveness of scientific research in Vietnam, it is practical to investigate the possibility of developing a national open access database (NOAD). This study aims to answer the question of whether it is necessary to establish a NOAD in Vietnam. We used document analysis to evaluate issues related to NOADs. The results of this study show the complexity, lack of consistency, and difficulty in obtaining practical statistics and assessing research and scientific records in Vietnam today. Furthermore, the findings of this study imply that it is necessary to establish a NOAD of scientific research in Vietnam. The information in this report can be used to develop a NOAD for Vietnam in particular, and for any country that lacks one in general.
Social Capital and Migration: A Case Study of Rural Vietnam
Hong Thu NGUYEN,My Kim LE,Thi Thuy Dung NGUYEN,Vu Phuong Linh DAO,Ngoc Tien NGUYEN 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.1
To investigate the short-run effects of social capital on migration decisions of individuals in the rural areas of Vietnam, we conducted dataset mining and performed regression model analysis in the form of panel data. As control variables, we employed the variable of social capital, which is measured by an individual’s network, as well as demographic characteristics of individuals and households. We discovered that when a household is in financial distress, social networks such as linkages or asking for aid from others often enhance individual capacity. Individuals with a large social network outside of their immediate area are more inclined to relocate to the location where their connectors live. Individual participation and degree of participation in the organizational community, on the other hand, have little bearing on the likelihood of migration. In addition, this research examines theories and empirical research on the relationship between social capital and migration. Based on our research findings, we have recommended some measures to boost the efficiency of social capital and migration in rural areas of Vietnam through local government solutions.

Phuc Manh Nguyen,Vu Cong Nguyen,Son Ngoc Nguyen,Linh My Thi Dang,Ha Xuan Nguyen,Vinh Dinh Nguyen 제어로봇시스템학회 2020 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2020 No.10
Recently, traffic light detection and classification systems have been studied and developed to build an autonomous car by many research institutes, universities, and companies. However, the results of existing traffic light detection systems are still not stable under day and night conditions. It is difficult to detect the location of traffic light due to their small size. Moreover, traffic lights’ shapes are also similar to advertisement lights in a city road. Therefore, this paper proposed a new approach to improve the performance of existing traffic light detection systems by using the benefits of hand-crafted features and deep learning techniques. Experimental results show that the proposed system obtained the detection rate of 80% under night conditions, while the color-based density method only got the detection rate of 50.43% under night conditions.
Determinants Influencing Tax Compliance: The Case of Vietnam
NGUYEN, Thi Thuy Du'o'ng,PHAM, Thi My Linh,LE, Thanh Tam,TRUONG, Thi Hoai Linh,TRAN, Manh Dung Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.2
The purpose of this paper is to ascertain the key factors affecting tax compliance among Vietnamese firms in Vietnam. We employ both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Qualitative research has been carried out through focus group discussions with ten chief accountants and tax officers. Quantitative research has been conducted through interviews with 200 firms (chief accountants or financial directors) in Vietnam. Analysis of the model includes the following stages: (i) Cronbach's test for reliability of the scale, (ii) exploratory factor analysis (EFA), (iii) confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and (iv) structural equation model (SEM). The results of the research show that voluntary tax compliance is directly affected by the three factors of audit probability, corporate reputation and business ownership. The probability of audit and severity of sanctions have the strongest impact on tax compliance. Therefore, the tax authorities need to strengthen the inspection of tax declarations, tax payments and tax refunds of firms. The paper confirms that enforced tax compliance is directly affected by the three factors of audit probability, sanction severity and social norms. Voluntary compliance and compulsory compliance have an effect on tax compliance, though voluntary compliance has a more powerful impact.
