Photoelectric effects on the instability of the current-driven dust ion-acoustic waves in a collisional and streaming dusty plasmas with dust charge fluctuation

        Talukder M. A. H.,Islam M. K.,Munir M. S.,Salahuddin M. 한국물리학회 2023 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.83 No.1

The photoelectric efects on the instability of the current-driven dust ion-acoustic (DIA) waves in a collisional and streaming dusty plasmas are theoretically investigated using fuid model with dust charge fuctuation considering dust grains as negatively charged. It is found that the photoelectric efects through dust charge fuctuation give the growth of the DIA waves beside the damping efects of collision and streaming of the plasma species. Growth rate of the DIA waves are numerically investigated using the values of appropriate plasma parameters.

EFFECT OF WINTER SUPPLEMENTATION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF BALOCHI EWES GRAZING NATIVE RANGELANDS IN HIGHLAND BALOCHISTAN

        Rafique, S.,Munir, M.,Sultani, M.I.,Rehman, A. Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 1991 Animal Bioscience Vol.4 No.4

Eighty-two ewes of Balochi breed, two to four years of age were used in a completely randomized design to study the effect of winter supplementation on their performance in Kalat area of Balochistan and randomly divided into two groups of 40 and 42 animals. Two treatments (T1 and T2) studied were : 250 gm/animal/day of a 50 : 50 mixture of cottonseed cake and barley grain fed from Oct. 20 to Dec. 18, 1988 plus grazing and 500 gm/animal/day of the same feed mixture fed from Oct. 9 to Dec. 18, 1988 in addition to grazing. Lucerne hay and wheat straw in a 50 : 50 ratio were provided to all the ewes for a period of one month from Jan. 6, 1989 @ 320 gm/animal/day to sustain them in severe winter. Same feeding levels to the same ewe groups were again fed from Mar. 1 to May 27, 1989. Three breeding rams stayed with the flock from Nov. 1 to Dec. 13, 1988. Lambing took place from Apr. 2 to May 12, 1989. Conception, lambing and mortality percentage was found different (P<.05) between T1 and T2 (12.5 vs 14.8 kg). The ewes on T2 maintained higher body weights throughout winter than the ewes on T1. The results are suggestive of improvement in conception rate with winter supplementation (flushing) and decrease in ewe mortality. Late-gestation and early-lactation supplemental feeding of ewes results in increases in weaning weights of their lambs.

Properties enhancement of recycled aggregate concrete through pretreatment of coarse aggregates – Comparative assessment of assorted techniques

Kim, Yongjae,Hanif, Asad,Kazmi, Syed M.S.,Munir, Muhammad J.,Park, Cheolwoo Elsevier 2018 JOURNAL OF CLEANER PRODUCTION Vol.191 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, the intrinsic properties of recycled coarse aggregates (RC), associated with bonded mortar, were modified with two different pretreatment techniques viz-a-viz HCl pretreatment and Na2SO4 pretreatment, while maintaining a fixed aggregate-to-solution ratio of 1:4.5. The residual bonded mortar was quantified to evaluate the potential of both techniques. HCl pretreatment yielded greater removal of bonded mortar content (BMC), almost twice as high as achieved by Na2SO4 pretreatment. Subsequently, the concretes were developed (termed as recycled aggregate concrete; RAC) by incorporating HCl treated coarse aggregates (HTC) and Na2SO4 treated coarse aggregates (STC). Both natural and recycled (untreated) fine aggregates (NF and RF, respectively) were used. Control specimens with natural coarse aggregates (NC) were prepared for comparative assessment. The resulting properties showed significantly influenced by bonded mortar content (BMC). About 14% higher compressive strength was achieved by using HTC in comparison with untreated RC, while a mere corresponding decline of 5% was seen when compared with NC. Likewise, the carbonation resistance and the resistance to chloride ion penetration showed better performance for HTC and STC incorporated concretes. Such superior performance is attributed to the denser interface (between the aggregate and paste matrix) with reduced pores/voids, as assessed from the optical and scanning electron microscopy. Further, the determined properties were used to develop regression models for the prediction of RAC properties. The prediction equations thus obtained showed remarked precision with the experimentally determined results, and as such these can be used for strength and durability prediction.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Properties of recycled coarse aggregates (RC) were improved by pre-treating with HCl and Na2SO4. </LI> <LI> HCl pretreatment was demonstrated twice as beneficial as Na2SO4 pretreatment. </LI> <LI> Concretes incorporating treated RC showed remarkable properties enhancement. </LI> <LI> Recycled aggregate concrete properties were also modeled (by regression) based on bonded mortar content. </LI> </UL> </P>
