Ba ckground: This study aimed to evaluate some of the major risk factors of myocardial infarction including dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate in patients with premature myocardial infarction (age <50 years old) and myocardial infarction (age ≥50 years). Me thods: This is a parallel case-control study on 50 premature myocardial infarction patients and 50 myocardial infarction patients. We also recruited 50 matched participants for each of the two groups. Patients and their control groups were assessed for dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate serum level, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and hypertension. In addition, family history of cardiovascular disease and current smoking was recorded. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to evaluate predictors of premature myocardial infarction and myocardial infarction. Re sults: No significant differences were observed between the demographic data of patients and their controls. The dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate serum level was significantly higher in patients with premature myocardial infarction compared with controls. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed only serum dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate level to be significantly associated with premature myocardial infarction (odds ratio, 2.65; 95% confidence interval, 1.44 to 4.877; P = 0.002). Additionally, hypertension was found to be associated with myocardial infarction. Co nclusion: Higher levels of serum dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate level are associated with premature myocardial infarction but not with myocardial infarction, and this association is independent of the effects of other risk factors.

In this study, Glutathione-responsive hydrogel, MIPs and their related NIPs were synthesized byprecipitation polymerization method. Effect of HEMA/MAA and EGDMA/TRIM as functional monomerand crosslinking agents on size, morphology, drug loading and releasing were studied. BACy as a disulfidecross-linking agent was used in praparation of Glutathione-responsive hydrogel. The size andmorphology of MIPs and NIPs were examined by FE-SEM technique. Results showed EGDMAsynthesizedMIPs had the smaller size than TRIM-prepared MIPs. In order to measure the capacity of MIPsor NIPs for binding to cisplatin, static and dynamic adsorption experiments were done. The amounts ofcisplatin were measured by HPLC method. The binding capacity of drug by MIPs is observed to be higherthan NIPs. The EGDMA-synthesized polymers showed a high percentage of adsorption. NIPs weresaturated much sooner than MIPs. In vitro release assays of cisplatin were done in PBS at pH = 7.4 andtemperature of 37 C. The results showed that increase of the amount of GSH cause to increase release ofthe drug from hydrogel.

Life table parameters of Indianmeal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), on four pistachiocultivars (Akbari, Ahmad-Aghaii, Fandoghi and Kalehghouchi) were studied in laboratory at 28 ± 0.5 °C,50 ± 5% RH and a photoperiod of 16:8 h (L:D). The larvae successfully developed on all cultivars. The shortestand longest larval periods were recorded on Akbari and Kalehghouchi, respectively. The fecundity of femalesvaried from 109.19 to 157.81 eggs on Kalehghouchi and Akbari, respectively. The adult longevity varied from6.19 to 6.75 days on Fandoghi and Akbari, respectively. The intrinsic rate of increase (rm) ranged from 0.0961to 0.1382 (female/female/day) on Kalehghouchi and Akbari, respectively. The mean generation time (T) wasfound 35.67 to 31.83 days on Kalehghouchi and Akbari, respectively. The Kalehghouchi cultivarwas less suitable,and the Akbari cultivar was the most suitable host for P. interpunctella in comparison with other cultivars. Theseresults provide important information on population growth potential of P. interpunctella on four commercialpistachio cultivars.
