In the present study, we sought to examine the association between dietary patterns (DPs) and visceral adiposity, lipid accumulation product (LAP), and triglyceride-glucose index. This cross-sectional study was conducted on adults aged between 18-45 years old who lived in Tehran, Iran, between February 2017 and December 2018 (n = 270). DPs were derived using principal component analysis. We used analysis of variance to examine differences in continues variables across tertiles of major DPs. Subsequently, for the modeling of these relationships, and also considering the possible effect of the confounding factors, multivariate regression was used. Three DPs were identified: healthy pattern, mixed pattern, and western pattern, respectively. Compared with individuals in the lowest category of mixed pattern, those in the highest category had lower fasting blood sugar (96.26 ± 11.57 vs. 101 ± 28.66, p = 0.01). A significant association was found between healthy pattern, after adjustment for potential confounders, and odds of LAP; such that individuals in the top category of healthy pattern score were 71% less likely to have a high LAP compared with those in the lowest category (odds ratio, 0.29; 95% confidence interval, 0.10-0.81). We found that adherence to a healthy DP was associated with decreased LAP. To confirm the veracity of these findings, more studies should be conducted.

A PVC membrane electrode for silver ion based on a new cone shaped calix[4]arene (CASCA) as membrane carrier was prepared. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian response for $Ag^+$ over a wide concentration range ($1.0{\times}10^{-1}-8.0{\times}10^{-6}$M) with a slope of 58.2 {\pm}$ 0.5 mV per decade. The limit of detection of the sensor is $5.0{\times}10^{-6}$M. The sensor has a very fast response time (~5 s) in the concentration range of ${\leq}=1.0{\times}10^{-3}$ M, and a useful working pH range of 4.0-9.5. The proposed sensor displays excellent discriminating ability toward $Ag^+$ ion with respect to common alkali, alkaline earth, transition and heavy metal ions. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of $Ag^+$ with EDTA and in direct determination of silver ion in wastewater of silver electroplating.

In this paper, a new basic unit is proposed. Then, a cascaded multilevel inverter basded on the series connection of n number of these new basic units is proposed. In order to generate all of the voltage levels (even and odd) at the output, three different algorithms to determine the magnitude of the dc voltage source are proposed. Reductions in the number of power switches, driver circuits and dc voltage sources in addition to increases in the numbr of output voltage levels are some of the advantages of the proposed cascaded multilevel inverter. These results are obtained through a comparison of the proposed inverter and its algorithms with an H-bridge cascaded multilevel inverter from the point of view of the number of power electronic devices. Finally, the capability of the proposed topology with its proposed algorithms in generating all of the voltage levels is verified through experimental results on a laboratorary prototype of a 49-level inverter.

Textile wastewater was treated using an enhanced simultaneous adsorption/oxidation process withmagnetic nanoparticles-functionalized carbon (MNPs@C) and H2O2, UV and ultrasonic (US). Bothfilmandpore-diffusion affect adsorption mechanisms were included in the adsorption process. The dyeadsorption was enhanced by oxidative degradation in the present of H2O2 with the suitability in order ofUV-Fenton > US-Fenton > Fenton. Catalytic potential of 47% was observed for MNPs@C/H2O2/UV system. For UV-Fenton system 94.8% removal of dye with minimal iron leaching was observed after 5 times ofrecycle. Increasing catalytic activity of MNPs@C on direct red 16 (DR16) degradation follows the order ofPMS > PS > H2O2.
Anti-proliferative and Apoptotic Effects of Dendrosomal Farnesiferol C on Gastric Cancer Cells

Farnesiferol C is a natural compound with various anti-cancer properties that belongs to the class of sesquiterpene coumarins. However, the low bioavailability of farnesiferol C limits its therapeutic potential. Here, we overcame this problem utilizing dendrosome nano-particles and evaluated the anti-cancer effect of dendrosomal farnesiferol C (DFC) on the AGS gastric cancer cell line. The 3-(4,5-dimethyl-thiazol-2yl)-2,5- diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were respectively used to detect the anti-proliferative properties of DFC and expression ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 as a hallmark of apoptosis. Compared to the void farnesiferol C (FC), our data showed that DFC significantly suppresses the proliferation of AGS cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner (P<0.01). Also, DFC meaningfully increased the expression ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 in AGS cells (P<0.01). The findings demonstrate that our nano-based formulation of farnesiferol C could be considered as a potential therapeutic agent in cancer targeting.

Biodiversity status of Tulipa (Liliaceae) in Iran inferred from molecular characterization
Davoud Asgari,Alireza Babaei,Mohammad Reza Naghavi,Mahmoud Kiani 한국원예학회 2020 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.61 No.3
Here, we used data generated from amplifi ed fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) analysis to address the biodiversitystatus and taxonomic relationships among 47 wild accessions representing 9 species of the genus Tulipa in Iran. A high levelof genetic diversity within the genus was observed; the most distant taxa were T. humilis and T. schrenkii , while the highestdegree of similarity was found between T. montana and T. bifl ora . Twelve AFLP primer sets amplifi ed 342 fragments, ofwhich 304 were polymorphic (88.1%). The average number of polymorphic bands per AFLP primer pair was 28.5. A hierarchicalcluster analysis was carried out on the genetic profi le of the taxa, and the results mostly reconfi rmed the recognizedtaxonomy of the genus. However, we found evidence for recognition of a new subgenus for T. biebersteiniana .

This study aimed to determine sleep disorders and associated risk factors in leukemia patients undergoing chemotherapy in Imam Khomeini Hospital of Sari, Iran. This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2015 with 100 patients selected. Inclusion criteria included complete mental and psychological health and being over 18 years old, and exclusion criteria included suffering other cancers, other chronic diseases, concurrent radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality standard questionnaire was used to collect data. The questionnaire consisted of mental sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep quality, sleep disturbances, use of sleeping drugs, and impaired daily functioning. Data were analyzed by software SPSS 18 and by using descriptive and inferential tests (Pearson, Spearman, T-test and chi-square). Totals of 47 men (47%) and 53 women (53%) with a mean age of $44.1{\pm}1.7$, participated in the study. The mean overall score of sleep quality was $9.3{\pm}3.9$, which represents the average sleep quality in most participants. T-test shows that males have better sleep quality than females (t=2.1; 95%CI:0.004-0.25; P<0.01). Also the sleep quality increased with age (r=0.22, P=0.03). Results show that the amount of sleep quality was only moderate in most patients, so it is necessary to take coping strategies to improve their quality of sleep.

Objectives: Assessment of dental pain severity is very challenging in dentistry. Previous studies have suggested that elevated salivary alpha amylase may contribute to increased physical stresses. There is a close association between salivary alpha amylase and plasma norepinephrine under stressful physical conditions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between pain severity and salivary alpha amylase levels in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Materials and Methods: Thirtysix patients (20 females and 16 males) with severe tooth pain due to symptomatic irreversible pulpitis were selected. The visual analogue scale (VAS) score was used to assess the pain severity in each patient. Unstimulated whole saliva was collected, and the level of alpha amylase activity was assessed by the spectrophotometric method. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 13. Results: The level of alpha amylase was significantly increased in the saliva in association with pain severity assessed by VAS. The salivary alpha amylase was also elevated with increased age and in males. Conclusions: There was a significant correlation between the VAS pain scale and salivary alpha amylase level, which indicates this biomarker may be a good index for the objective assessment of pain intensity.
