<P>Fleas can jump more than 200 times their body length. They do so by employing a unique catapult mechanism: storing a large amount of elastic energy and releasing it quickly by torque reversal triggering. This paper presents a flea-inspired catapult mechanism for miniature jumping robots. A robotic design was created to realize the mechanism for the biological catapult with shape memory alloy (SMA) spring actuators and a smart composite microstructure. SMA spring actuators replace conventional actuators, transmissions, and the elastic element to reduce the size. The body uses a four-bar mechanism that simulates a flea's leg kinematics with reduced degrees of freedom. Dynamic modeling was derived, and theoretical jumping was simulated to optimize the leg design for increased takeoff speed. A robotic prototype was fabricated with 1.1-g weight and 2-cm body size that can jump a distance of up to 30 times its body size.</P>

The main objective of this study is to investigate an impact of organizational culture on supply chain risk and strategic sourcing. It also examines the relationship between organizational culture and strategic sourcing. By collecting 159 survey responses from supply, executives and managers of U.S. manufacturing firms, it provides empirical evidence that organizational culture and strategic sourcing mitigate supply chain risks. Organizational culture also makes a positive impact on the implementation of strategic sourcing. This study emphasizes the importance of cultural impacts to supply executives and managers in supply chain risk management.

<P>Protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) appears to be an attractive target for the development of new drugs for type 2 diabetes and obesity. In our preliminary test, a MeOH extract of the stem barks of Sorbus commixta Hedl. (Rosaceae) showed strong PTP1B inhibitory activity. Bioassay-guided fractionation of the MeOH extract resulted in the isolation of two lupane-type triterpenes, lupenone (1) and lupeol (2). Compounds 1 and 2 inhibited PTP1B with IC(50) values of 13.7 +/- 2.1 and 5.6 +/- 0.9 microM, respectively. Kinetic studies revealed that both the compounds 1 and 2 are non-competitive inhibitors of PTP1B that decrease V(max) values with no effect on K(m) values.</P>
Studies on urease inhibitors from pyroligneous acids

The objectives of this study were to measure the inhibitory effect of pyroligneous acid on urease activity and isolation of urease inhibitor from pyroligneous acid. The fractions of pyroligneous acid were tested for their urease inhibitory activities ny using jack bean urease, bacillus paseurii urease and soil urease in an enzyme assay. The peak 1 was a more effective inhibitor of jack bean urease, bacillus paseruii urease and soil urease than pyroligneous acid, F1, F1b and peak 2. In addition, the inhibitory effect was investigated on urease activity in soil by fractions of pyroligneous acid. When the fractions of pyroligneous acid were applied at rate of 15,150 and 180 ㎍ g^-1 soil, all of the treatments retarded urea hydrolysis in soil and peak1 was the most effective for retardation of urea hydrolysis in soil. In flooded soil, highest inhibition of urea hydrolysis is obtained with peak 1 followed by peak 2. The concentrations of pyroligneous acid, F1, F1b, peak1 and peak 2 required for 50% inhibition under the conditions of the experiment were 19.8, 13.6, 5.1, 1.53 and 1.62 g/㎖, respectively. Peak 1 was the most powerful urease inhibitor among fractions of the pyroligneous acid. Peak 2, F1b, F1 and pyroligneous acid followed, in terms of decreasing inhibition ability. The kinetics of the inhibition of jack bean urease in the presence of peak 1 was studied at pH 7.0. Peak 1 seemed to inhibit the jack bean urease activity via a noncompetitive pattern when urea was used as a substrate.

[연구 목적] 본 연구의 목적은 세속화 사회, 고도 산업사회, 그리고 다종교 사회로 대표되는 대한민국 사회에서 가톨릭대학교가 교과 및 비교과 영역, 그리고 학교사목을 통해 성취한 긍정적인 결실과 과제를 분석하는 데 있다. [연구 내용] 먼저 교과 영역에서 가톨릭대학교는 기초 교양 필수 과정과 ‘한국 가톨릭 교양 공유대학’을 통해 가톨릭 정신에 기초한 인간 존중 문화의 가치를 교육하고 있지만, 전인 교육과 복음 선포를 종합적으로 관할할 교목처가 요구된다. 비교과 영역과 관련해서는 윤리적 리더 육성 프로그램(ELP)을 통해 다양한 봉사활동의 기회를 제공하여 학생들이 가톨릭 인본주의를 존중하는 인재로 성장하도록 돕고 있다. 비교과 과정에 오늘날 주목받고 있는 그리스도인 일치와 종교 간 대화와 관련된 프로그램을 추가할 필요가 있다. 마지막으로 학교사목과 관련하여 교목실은 공동체의 신앙 성숙을 도울 뿐 아니라, 예수 그리스도의 가르침을 삶으로 증거하고자 노력하고 있다. 교목 공동체가 복음 선포를 위해 하느님 사랑을 구체적으로 실천하기 위해서는 비(非)가톨릭 및 외국인 구성원들에게도 개방된 공동체가 될 필요가 있다. [결론] 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들이 기초 교양 필수 과정을 통해 그리스도 신앙에 바탕을 둔 인간 존중 문화의 가치를 발견하고, 봉사활동을 포함한 다양한 비교과 활동 및 학교사목을 통해 깨달은 가치를 삶에서 실천하도록 돕는 것이 ‘세속화’ 사회에서 가장 이상적인 선교 방법이다. 둘째, 지속적인 과학 기술과 신학 및 철학 간의 학문적 교류를 독려함으로써 ‘고도 산업’사회에서 과학 기술이 하느님 섭리를 새롭게 발견할 기회를 제공하고 신학은 과학 기술이 나가야 할 방향 설정에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 마지막으로, ‘다종교’ 사회에서 가톨릭 정체성은 유지하면서도 이웃 종교들과 긴밀히 교류함으로써, 가톨릭 신앙 유산을 더욱 풍요롭게 하는 새로운 문화를 창조할 수 있다. [Objective] The purpose of this study is to analyze the positive results and tasks that the Catholic University of Korea has achieved through curricular and extra-curricular areas and pastoral care. [Contents] First, in the curricular area, the Catholic University of Korea educates the value of a culture of human respect based on the Catholic spirit through four basic liberal arts courses and the ‘Catholic Metaversity’. But a new chaplain’s office is needed to oversee the holistic education and the proclamation of the Gospel. In the extra-curricular area, various opportunities for volunteer work are provided to help students respect Catholic humanism. But it is necessary to add programs related to Christian unity and interreligious dialogue. Lastly, in relation to pastoral care, the chaplain’s office not only helps the community mature in faith, but also strives to testify the teachings of Jesus Christ through life. There is a need for the community to be open to non-Catholic and foreign members. [Conclusions] First, helping students discover the value of human respect through the curricular area and putting that value into practice through the extra-curricular area and the pastoral care is the most ideal missionary method in a ‘secularized’ society. Second, it must be shown that academic exchange between science and theology is possible in a ‘highly industrial’ society. Lastly, the heritage of the Catholic faith can be further enriched through close exchange with neighboring religions in a ‘multi-religious’ society.

본 논문은 고출력 전자파인 HPM(High Power microwave)에 대해서 아날로그 스위치 칩이 어떠한 영향을 받는지를 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 이때 아날로그 스위치 칩은 기판위에서 동작시키면서 분석하였다. 아날로그 스위치를 on/off 시키면서 정상동작 할 때의 입력과 출력을 시간영역에서 분석한 후에 외부에서 고출력 마이크로파를 입사시켜 주었다. 칩이 고출력 마이크로파에 직접노출 되었을 때의 입력과 출력을 시간영역에서 분석하고 정상동작할 때의 입력, 출력과 비교분석 하였다. 이는 고출력 전자파가 외부전자장비에 입사되어졌을 때, 외부전자장비가 영향을 받아 오작동을 한다는 것을 규명한다.
