• Biochar-supported nZVI (nZVI/BC) for contaminant removal from soil and water: A critical review

        Wang, Shengsen,Zhao, Mingyue,Zhou, Min,Li, Yuncong C.,Wang, Jun,Gao, Bin,Sato, Shinjiro,Feng, Ke,Yin, Weiqin,Igalavithana, Avanthi Deshani,Oleszczuk, Patryk,Wang, Xiaozhi,Ok, Yong Sik Elsevier 2019 Journal of hazardous materials Vol.373 No.-

Abstract

The promising characteristics of nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) have not been fully exploited owing to intrinsic limitations. Carbon-enriched biochar (BC) has been widely used to overcome the limitations of nZVI and improve its reaction with environmental pollutants. This work reviews the preparation of nZVI/BC nanocomposites; the effects of BC as a supporting matrix on the nZVI crystallite size, dispersion, and oxidation and electron transfer capacity; and its interaction mechanisms with contaminants. The literature review suggests that the properties and preparation conditions of BC (e.g., pore structure, functional groups, feedstock composition, and pyrogenic temperature) play important roles in the manipulation of nZVI properties. This review discusses the interactions of nZVI/BC composites with heavy metals, nitrates, and organic compounds in soil and water. Overall, BC contributes to the removal of contaminants because it can attenuate contaminants on the surface of nZVI/BC; it also enhances electron transfer from nZVI to target contaminants owing to its good electrical conductivity and improves the crystallite size and dispersion of nZVI. This review is intended to provide insights into methods of optimizing nZVI/BC synthesis and maximizing the efficiency of nZVI in environmental cleanup.

Highlights

Aggregation and passivation of nZVI can be alleviated by surfactants and doping methods.

BC hinders corrosion and improves the dispersion and electron transfer of nZVI.

Properties of nZVI depend on those of the BC, feedstock and pyrogenic temperature.

BC enhances electron transfer from nZVI to the contaminants due to the presence of quinone and graphene moieties.

nZVI/BC shows strong ability to remove HMs, nitrates, and organic contaminants in soil and water.

Pulse-width Adjustment Strategy for Improving the Dynamic Inductor Current Response Performance of a Novel Bidirectional DC-DC Boost Converter

Li, Mingyue,Yan, Peimin The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2018 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.18 No.1

This paper presents a pulse-width adjustment (PWA) strategy for a novel bidirectional DC-DC boost converter to improve the performance of the dynamic inductor current response. This novel converter consists of three main components: a full-bridge converter (FBC), a high-frequency isolated transformer with large leakage inductance, and a three-level voltage-doubler rectifier (VDR). A number of scholars have analyzed the principles, such as the soft-switching performance and high-efficiency characteristic, of this converter based on pulse-width modulation plus phase-shift (PPS) control. It turns out that this converter is suitable for energy storage applications and exhibits good performance. However, the dynamic inductor current response processes of control variable adjustment is not analyzed in this converter. In fact, dc component may occur in the inductor current during its dynamic response process, which can influence the stability and reliability of the converter system. The dynamic responses under different operating modes of a conventional feedforward control are discussed in this paper. And a PWA strategy is proposed to enhance the dynamic inductor current response performance of the converter. This paper gives a detailed design and implementation of the PWA strategy. The proposed strategy is verified through a series of simulation and experimental results.

Effect of annealing temperature on resistive switching behavior of Al/ La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 /LaNiO3 devices

        Li Juanfei,Wu Lei,Ma Mingyu,Song Ruifeng,Dong Chunhui,Wei Junfang,Li Jinsheng,Wang Xiaoqiang,Li Mingya 한국물리학회 2023 Current Applied Physics Vol.46 No.-

La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO)/LaNiO3 (LNO) thin films were deposited successively on Si single crystal by the sol-gel method. The bipolar resistive switching (RS) behavior was studied in Al/LSMO/LNO devices. Obvious current hysteresis was observed, the set (reset) voltage and resistance ratio were modulated by the annealing temperature of LSMO thin films. At the annealing temperature of 750 ◦C, good endurance and retention performance were obtained in the memory device. According to the fitting results of I–V curves, based on Schottky emission model, the conduction mechanisms of Al/LSMO/LNO devices were discussed. Our results may give a valuable insight on developing perovskite-type rare earth manganese oxide.

Quercetin in a Lotus Leaves Extract May be Responsible for Antibacterial Activity

Mingyu Li,Zhuting Xu 대한약학회 2008 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.31 No.5

In the course of a search for chemotherapeutic agents inhibiting suspected peridontitis bacteria, extracted and purified substances from lotus leaf were identified by antimicrobial activity tests with use of the broth micro-dilution methods on 96-microwell plate. The antimicrobial activity of extracts was tested against five microorganisms, namely: Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans Y4, Actinomyces viscosus 19246, Porphyromonas gingivalis 33277, Fusobacterium nucleatum 25586, and Actinomyces naeslundii wvl 45. The most active antimicrobial extract was subjected to spectroscopic analysis using UV, mass spectrometry, and by 1H, 13C-, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Our data showed that the minimum inhibitory concentrations of the most active extract were 0.625, 1.25, 1.25, 0.625 and 2.5 mg/mL for A. actinomycetemcomitans, A. viscosus, P. gingivalis, F. nucleatum, and A. naeslundii, respectively. The component that had a greatest antimicrobial activity was determined to be quercetin. Thus, we conclude that quercetin extracted from lotus leaves may be a potential antibacterial agent for periodontitis

중국어 동량사구문의 형식과 의미의 일반화 연구

MINGYUE LI 한국중국언어학회 2023 중국언어연구 Vol.- No.104

This paper analyzes the form and meaning characteristics of the verb classifier construction ‘X+Num+VCL’, and takes ‘X’ and the verb classifiers as the center to examines the productivity, schematicity, and compositionality of the verb classifiers constructions, and identifies the generalized content, degree and application scope of of the verb classifiers constructions. In addition, the theoretical basis for the generalization of the constructions is presented, in which there are two types of inheritance relations, ‘IS’ and ‘IM’, in the development of the verb classifier constructions, and various influencing factors. According to the results of the study, atypical constructions ‘A/N+Num+VCL’ exist in all constructions, and the expansion of the form and semantic function of such constructions shows an inconsistent degree in various constructions, but the fact of expansion itself and the direction of expansion shows a consistent orthodromic character in the constructions of verb classifiers. It can be seen that the generalization of the verb classifier constructions is universal (or at least has the directionality of universal development of constructions) and does not occur only for particular high-frequency verb classifier constructions. The expansion of verb classifier constructions is a cyclic system, as the language is constantly changing and the above sentence expansions will continue to evolve according to the use of the language users.

Effects of confinement on physiological and psychological responses and expression of interleukin 6 and brain derived neurotrophic factor mRNA in primiparous and multiparous weaning sows

        Zhang, Mingyue,Li, Xiang,Li, Jianhong,Sun, Hanqing,Zhang, Xiaohui,Bao, Jun Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.9

Objective: The present study aimed to investigate whether the long-lasting, recurrent restricting of sows leads to the physiological and psychological reaction of discomfort. Methods: Sows (Large White) that had experienced restricting for about 0.5 or 3 years and agematched sows kept in a group housing system (loose sows) were compared. Pupillary light reflex parameters were measured at the weaning stage. Immediately after slaughter, blood samples were taken to measure serum cortisol levels, and the brain was dissected, gene expression in the hippo-campus, frontal cortex and hypothalamus was analyzed. Results: The serum cortisol levels were higher in the confined sows than in the loose sows. The full maturity, but not the young adolescent, confined sows had longer latency time in the onset of pupil constriction than their loose counterparts. Real-time polymerase chain reaction analyses revealed an increased expression of interleukin 6 mRNA in the hippocampus and decreased expression of brain derived neurotrophic factor mRNA in hippocampus and hypothalamus and to a lesser extent in the frontal cortex of the full maturity confined sows, compared with the full maturity loose sows. Conclusion: Taken together, these data indicated that recurrent restricting stress in full maturity sows leads to the physiological and psychological reaction of discomfort.
