        Characteristics and Causes of Extreme Rainfall Induced by Binary Tropical Cyclones over China

        Binary tropical cyclones (BTC) often bring disastrous rainfall to China. From the viewpoint of the extreme of the BTC maximum daily rainfall, the characteristics of BTC extreme rainfall (BTCER) during 1960–2018 are analyzed, using daily rainfall data; and some representative large-scale mean flows, in which the associated BTCs are embedded, are analyzed. Results show that the frequency of BTCER shows a decreasing trend [−0.49 (10 yr)−1] and is mainly distributed within the BTC heavy rainstorm interval (100 mm≤ BTCER <250 mm). BTCER occurs mostly from July to September with a peak in August. Three BTCER typical regions— Minbei, the Pearl River Delta (PRD), and Taiwan—are identified according to the clustering of stations with high BTCER frequency and large BTCER. A further analysis of the 850-hPa BTC composite horizontal wind and water vapor flux over the PRD region shows the existence of two water vapor transport channels, which transport water vapor to the western tropical cyclone. In the first of these channels, the transport takes place via the southwest monsoon, which accounts for 58% of the total moisture, and an easterly flow associated with eastern tropical cyclone accounts for the remaining 42%.         Experimental Study of Rubber-Concrete-Filled CST Composite Column Under Axial Compression

        Rubber concrete has been proposed to address the environmental challenges caused by waste tires and the shortage of natural aggregates worldwide; however, its strength and elastic modulus reduction hinder its wide application in structure members. This study proposes filling corrugated steel tubes with rubber concrete (RuCFCST) and using the non-uniform confinement provided by corrugated steel tubes (CSTs) to compensate for the loss in strength and elastic modulus of rubber concrete. We conducted monotonic axial compression tests on 12 tubular specimens to evaluate the effects of the steel tube type, loading mode, diameter-to-thickness ratio, and rubber concrete strength on the axial shortening behavior and strength. The test results confirmed the effectiveness of CST confinement in strengthening the axial behavior of rubber concrete and CST had a higher confinement efficiency than plain straight steel tubes. The strength and ductility indices of the specimens increased by 10% and 30%, respectively; however, the strength of the concrete core decreased by 38.4% owing to the incorporation of rubber particles. These results suggest that such columns can be used in infrastructure, such as in seismic bridge piers, mine roadway supports, and underground structural columns, where load-bearing capacity and ductility are required. The current specifications lack consistency in predicting the axial strength of RuCFCST columns and the results of our proposed modified formulas were in good agreement with the experimental data, and the formulas predicted the axial strength of piers well.

      • Diagnosis of Ship Generator Optimized Neural Network Based on Multi-population Chaos Genetic Algorithm

        In view of fault diagnosis of the ship generator , the paper proposes improved fault diagnosis method of ship generator ,which is Optimized Neural Network based on Multi-population Chaos Genetic Algorithm. The results prove that the method effectively solves low precision,slow constringency and local minimum of neural network and improves global search ability, optimizes the rate and precision of fault diagnosis. The method has a certain application prospect for the ship power system generator fault diagnosis.
