        In vitro Study of the Carotenoid-cleavage Enzyme from Staphylococcus pasteuri TS-82 Revealed Substrate Specificities and Generation of Norisoprenoid Flavors

        Reactions of a crude enzyme extracted from S. pasteuri TS-82 to cleave carbon-carbon bonds in bicyclic and monocyclic carotenoid substrates were investigated. Dependencies of enzyme activities on processing temperature and pH were investigated and non-volatile and volatile breakdown products were characterized. The crude enzyme showed a maximum activity with zeaxanthin, followed in decreasing order by β-carotene, canthaxanthin, astaxanthin, and β-apo-8'- carotenal. The optimum pH value of the enzyme was 3.0 for both bicyclic and monocyclic substrates, whereas the optimum temperature of the enzyme was substrate specific at 60oC for C40 carotenoids and 50oC for β-apo-8'-carotenal. Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectra (LC-MS) and Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectra (GC-MS) indicated that the crude enzyme was able to catalyze substrates with cleavage at 9-10 and 9'-10' double bonds with C13 norisoprenoids being the main volatile reaction products in each case. Astaxanthin is a major source for α,β-dihydro-β-ionone.

        $Ag-Si_3N_4$ nanostrutured composite has been investigated. The results show that it exhibits some novel properties such as strong piezpelectricity and high dielectricity. It can be constituted a battery using graphite and aluminum as the positive and the negative electrodes, respectively. The origins of these properties have been discussed.

      • Effects of Tiam 1 on Invasive Capacity of Gastric Cancer Cells in vitro and Underlying Mechanisms

        Objective: To investigate changes in the invasive capacity of gastric cancer cells in vitro after expression inhibition of T lymphoma invasion and metastasis inducing factor 1 (Tiam 1) and underlying mechanisms. Methods: Using adhesion selection, two subpopulations with high ($M_H$) or low ($M_L$) invasive capacity were separated from the human gastric cancer cell line MKN-45 ($M_0$). Tiam 1 antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (ASODN) was transfected into $M_H$ cells with liposomes, and expression of Tiam 1 mRNA and protein was determined by RT-PCR and quantitative cellular-ELISA. Changes in the cytoskeleton, invasive capacity in vitro and expression of ras-related $C_3$ botulinum toxin substrate 1 (Rac 1), integrin ${\beta}1$ and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP 2) between Tiam 1 ASODN transfected $M_H$ cells and non-transfected cells were observed by HE staining, cytoskeletal protein staining, scanning electron microscopy, Boyden chamber tests and cyto-immunohistochemistry. Results: A positive correlation existed between the expression level of Tiam l mRNA or protein and the invasion capacity of gastric cancer cells. After ASODN treatment ($0.43{\mu}M$ for 48 h), Tiam 1 mRNA transcription and protein expression in $M_H$ cells were decreased by 80% and 24% respectively (P < 0.05), compared with untreated controls, while invasive capacity in vitro was suppressed by 60% (P < 0.05). Morphologic and ultrastructural observation also showed that ASODN-treated $M_H$ cells exhibited smooth surfaces with obviously reduced filopodia and microspikes, which resembled $M_0$ and $M_L$ cells. Additionally, cytoskeletal distribution dramatically altered from disorder to regularity with reduced long filament-like structure, projections, pseudopodia on cell surface, and with decreased acitn-bodies in cytoplasm. After Tiam 1 ASODN treatment, the expression of Rac 1 and Integrin ${\beta}1$ in $M_H$ cells was not affected (P > 0.05), but that of MMP 2 in $M_H$ cells was significantly inhibited compared with untreated cells (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Over-expression of Tiam-1 contributes to the invasive phenotype of gastric cancer cells. Inhibition of Tiam 1 expression could impair the invasive capacity of gastric cancer cells through modulating reconstruction of the cytoskeleton and regulating expression of MMP 2.

        Reliability Evaluation of Key Hydraulic Components for Actuators of FAST Based on Small Sample Test

        The five-hundred meter aperture spherical radio telescope (FAST) is China’s major science and technology infrastructure project. Upon completion, this telescope will be considered the largest single-dish radio telescope in the world. As main active mechanism of FAST, 2225 hydraulic actuators are used for adjusting the reflectors. The reliability of hydraulic actuators is the most critical matter. This paper applies the reliability theory and reliability test method into large project for the first time. Firstly, a parallel energy-saving method and equipment to test the two components of the actuators for FAST are designed. Secondly, reliability model based on small sample test is used to perform the best linear unbiased estimation of the test data. Average impact lifetime of the sampled gear pump and the sampled relief valve in their working condition are calculated. Finally, the results show that the lifetime request of the sampled gear pump and the sampled relief valve for hydraulic actuator of FAST are satisfied. The research method has guiding significance to the reliability study of key hydraulic components for similar hydraulic systems.

      • Analysis of the roles of interphase, waviness and agglomeration of CNT in the electrical conductivity and tensile modulus of polymer/CNT nanocomposites by theoretical approaches

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study focuses on the roles of interphase between polymer matrix and CNT, waviness and agglomeration of CNT on the electrical conductivity and tensile modulus of polymer/CNT nanocomposites (PCNT). Several simple equations for percolation threshold, effective volume fraction of CNT and the fraction of networked CNT above percolation threshold are expressed assuming the roles of the mentioned parameters. After that, two proper models are applied to express the conductivity and modulus of PCNT by the influences of interphase, waviness and agglomeration. Both conductivity and modulus show similar correlations with these parameters. It is shown that interphase thickness (t), electrical conduction of CNT (σ<SUB>N</SUB>) and modulus of CNT network (E<SUB>N</SUB>) largely affect the electrical conductivity and tensile modulus of PCNT. The best relative conductivity (ratio of PCNT conductivity to polymer conduction) as 14*10<SUP>17</SUP> is achieved by the highest levels of t=20nm and σ<SUB>N</SUB> =2.5*10<SUP>5</SUP> S/m, while t <6nm produces the relative conductivity of 0.3*10<SUP>17</SUP>. Furthermore, the tensile modulus of PCNT improves by 2100% at t=20nm and E<SUB>N</SUB> =1900GPa, whereas about 110% improvement of modulus is shown by t <6nm at different “E<SUB>N</SUB>”.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Conductivity and mechanical performances of polymer CNT nanocomposites are studied. </LI> <LI> The roles of interphase, waviness and agglomeration of CNT are determined. </LI> <LI> Both conductivity and modulus show similar correlations with these parameters. </LI> <LI> Interphase thickness, conduction and modulus of CNT mainly affect the properties of PCNT. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

      • A Study on Speech Emotion Recognition Based On Fuzzy K Nearest Neighbor

        In order to improve the recognition performance of the tradition KNN, we combined the contributions of each feature parameter for different emotions with the tradition KNN and proposed a Fuzzy KNN algorithm for speech emotion recognition. Four kinds of emotions’ recognition experiment has shown that the Fuzzy KNN we proposed not only keeps the tradition KNN’s advantages of fast recognition and easy realization, but also improves the recognition performance.

        20, 30대 중국 소비자의 생명보험 가입 의도 -국가에 대한 인식 및 집단주의 성향에 따른 유형별 특성과 코로나19 불안의 조절 효과-

        The purpose of this study is to categorize Chinese consumers in their 20s and 30s according to their perception of the state and their collectivism tendency, and to empirically analyze how perception of the state, collectivism tendency, attitudes toward insurance, and preparation for old age affect insurance purchasing intention. In addition, it also analyzes the moderating effect of anxiety caused by covid-19. To this end, an online survey was conducted on Chinese consumers in their 20s and 30s living in Shanghai, China, and a total of 500 questionnaires were used for analysis. The main findings are as follows. First, according to the perception of the state and the tendency of collectivism, Chinese consumers in their 20s and 30s were categorized into three groups. Specifically, the three groups are “individualist critics” who are negative and critical of the state and have the lowest collectivism tendency, “moderate neutrals” who have a moderate attitude toward the state and collectivitism, and “collectivist optimists” who are positive and optimistic about the state and have the highest collectivism tendency. Second, there were no significant demographic differences among the three groups, but significant differences were found in the attitude toward insurance, the degree of preparation for old age, and the level of anxiety about covid-19. Third, attitude toward insurance, perception of the state, and collectivism tendency were found to affect the insurance purchasing intention among 3 groups, respectively, and covid-19 anxiety has a moderating effect to attitude toward insurance, perception of the state, and collectivism tendency for each group. Based on these results, the relationship between covid-19 anxiety and insurance purchasing intention was discussed in various ways along with diversity within the Chinese consumers in their 20s and 30s. 본 연구의 목적은 국가에 대한 인식 및 집단주의 성향에 따라 20, 30대 중국 소비자를 유형화하고 집단별 보험 가입 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증적으로 살펴보고, 이 과정에서 코로나19로 인한 불안이 어떠한 조절 효과를 가지는지 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 중국 상하이시에 거주하는 20, 30대 중국 소비자를 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시했으며 총 500부의 자료를 분석에 활용했다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국가에 대한 인식 및 집단주의 성향에 따라 20, 30대 중국 소비자를 유형화한결과 3개의 집단으로 분류되었다. 구체적으로 이 세 집단은 국가에 대해 부정적이고비판적인 태도를 가지면서 집단주의 성향도 가장 낮은 “개인주의적 비판론자”, 국가에대해 중도적인 온건한 태도를 가지면서 집단주의 성향도 중간 정도 수준을 보이는 “온건한 중립자”, 그리고 국가에 대해 긍정적이고 낙관적인 태도를 가지면서 집단주의 성향도 가장 높은 “집단주의적 낙관론자”이다. 둘째, 세 집단간 유의미한 인구통계학적차이는 나타나지 않았지만, 보험에 대한 태도, 노후 준비 정도, 그리고 코로나19 불안수준에서는 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 집단별 보험 가입 의도에 영향을 미치는요인과 이 과정에서 코로나19 불안의 조절 효과를 분석한 결과, 개인주의적 회의론자집단은 보험에 대한 태도, 온건한 중립자 집단은 국가에 대한 인식, 그리고 집단주의적 낙관론자는 집단주의 성향이 유의미한 요인으로 확인되었으며 각각의 독립변수와코로나19 불안과의 상호작용 또한 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로20, 30대 중국 소비자 집단 내부의 다양성과 함께 코로나19 불안과 보험 가입 의도와의 관계를 다각적으로 논의하였다.

        Stimulated by high economic profits, the industries of shellfish culture have grown rapidly during the last two decades. The expansion of mariculture adds pressure on the environment and associated ecosystem. The potential impacts of the cultivation include reduction of primary productivity due to the consumption of large quantities of phytoplankton, changes of water current movement resulted from the semi-permeation 'Island' effects of the suspended culture, and production of a large amount of faeces and pseudofaeces which may enhance the importance of benthic ecosystem in geo-biological cycling.

        Hydrogenation of Ethyl Acetate to Ethanol over Bimetallic Cu-Zn/SiO<sub>2</sub> Catalysts Prepared by Means of Coprecipitation

        A series of bimetallic Cu-Zn/$SiO_2$ catalysts were prepared via thermal decomposition of the as-synthesized $CuZn(OH)_4(H_2SiO_3)_2{\cdot}nH_2O$ hydroxides precursors. This highly dispersed Cu-solid base catalyst is extremely effective for hydrogenation of ethyl acetate to ethanol. The reduction and oxidation features of the precursors prepared by coprecipitation method and catalysts were extensively investigated by TGA, XRD, TPR and $N_2$-adsorption techniques. Catalytic activity by ethyl acetate hydrogenation of reaction temperatures between 120 and $300^{\circ}C$, different catalyst calcination and reduction temperatures, different Cu/Zn loadings have been examined extensively. The relation between the performance for hydrogenation of ethyl acetate and the structure of the Cu-solid base catalysts with Zn loading were discussed. The detected conversion of ethyl acetate reached 81.6% with a 93.8% selectivity of ethanol. This investigation of the Cu-Zn/$SiO_2$ catalyst provides a recently proposed pathway for ethyl acetate hydrogenation reaction to produce ethanol over Cu-solid base catalysts.
