An IEC TC 68 comparison on the measurement of the magnetic properties of permanent magnetswas completed in 2011. Measurements were performed on 6 NdFeB magnets with intrinsiccoercivities ranging from 1000 to 2600 kA/m by 8 institutes based in China, Japan, Italy, Belgium,Germany and the UK. Many versions of a Pulsed Field Magnetometer (PFM) that can determinethe full BH curve in as little as 100 ms have been developed during the last 2 decades. By comparingmeasurements made using an internationally accepted electromagnet method and pulsed methods, the influence of the dynamic effects of the latter could be investigated and established. For thequantities remanence, Br, magnetic flux density coercivity, HcB and energy product, BHmax themeasurements agree within the combined uncertainties. For the intrinsic coercivity, HcJ , the dependenceof the measurement of this quantity on the speed at which the magnetic field is reversed wasfound to be significant with the largest changes in value occurring as a DC measurement conditionis approached.
APPLICATION OF A DYNAMIC PANEL DATA ESTIMATOR TO CROSS-CONTRY COFFEE DEMAND : A TALE OF TWO ERAS
MICHAEL S.WEBB;VIV B. HALL 경제연구소 2009 Journal of Economic Development Vol.34 No.1
We estimate price and income elasticities of demand for green coffee beans in panels of up to 40 countries, both during and after the operation of export quotas under International Coffee Agreements. The dynamic panel estimator proposed in Han and Phillips (2007) is used because it is a consistent estimator, for any length of panel, regardless of the presence of unit roots. Dynamic panel data models, of any type, do not seem to have been previously applied to coffee demand. We find evidence of a concave relationship between income and coffee consumption for countries which are members of the International Coffee Organization, but no evidence of such a relationship for other countries. A further conclusion is that measures which increase the price of coffee beans can be expected to have little effect on coffee sales.

The Human Proteome Organisation (HUPO) initiated several projects focusing on the proteome analysis of distinct human organs. The Brain Proteome Project (BPP) is the initiative dedicated to the brain, its development and correlated diseases. Two pilot studies have been performed aiming at the comparison of techniques, laboratories and approaches. With the help of the results gained, objective data submission, storage and reprocessing workflow have been established. The biological relevance of the data will be drawn from the inter-laboratory comparisons as well as from the re-calculation of all data sets submitted by the different groups. In the following, results of the single groups as well as the centralised reprocessing effort will be summarised and compared, showing the added value of this concerted work.

[OBJECTIVES] To assess children’s physical and sedentary activity behavior, enjoyment (i.e., liking), and preference during two separate experimental conditions: parent attentive and parent non-attentive. [METHODS] Ten children (n = 6 boys, 4 girls), 3 to 6 years old, along with one parent (n = 6 mothers, 4 fathers) per child participated in each condition on separate days for 30-minutes in which they could choose from a variety of physical and/or sedentary activities. [RESULTS] A greater number of accelerometer counts (p = 0.04) were accumulated during the parent attentive (96,547 ± 33,075.26 counts) condition than the parent non-attentive (48,316.30 ± 46,101.47 counts) condition. More time (p = 0.007) was allocated to sedentary activities during the parent non-attentive (19.5 ± 13.3 minutes) condition than parent attentive (2.8 ± 3.55 minutes) condition. Children liked (p = 0.004) the parent attentive (9.05 ± 1.21 cm) condition more than parent non-attentive (4.42 ± 3.18 cm) condition. A non-significant (p = 0.21) proportion of children identified the parent attentive (70%) as their preferred condition over the parent non-attentive condition. [CONCLUSIONS] Parental attentiveness may be an important component to take into consideration when trying to maximize children’s physical activity behavior and enjoyment while simultaneously reducing sedentary behavior.
Exploring the Nature of Emotional Labor in the Sport Setting
( Patrick Shremshock ),( Michael Hall ),( Ye Hoon Lee ) 중앙대학교 학교체육연구소 2015 Asian Journal of Physical Education of Sport Scien Vol.3 No.2
Grandey (2000) defined emotional labor as the regulation of both feeling and expression of emotions for the organizational goals. With respect to its importance on the individual and organizational outcomes, there has been growing interests on the role of emotional labor in the work place. However, until recently, there has been no research exploring emotional labor concept in the sport settings. As such, this paper suggests the first study exploring whether coaches perform emotional labor in their interactions with athletes. In doing so, this paper may be a starting point of investigating the role of emotional labor in the sport settings. Therefore, in this paper, the overall explanation of emotional labor including the basic assumptions and definitions, and theoretical backgrounds addressing emotional labor in leadership will be discussed. Finally, based on the literatures, practical implications and future research direction will be proposed.
A hedonic motivation model in virtual reality tourism: Comparing visitors and non-visitors
Kim, Myung Ja,Hall, C. Michael Elsevier 2019 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF INFORMATION MANAGEMENT - Vol.46 No.-

Abstract

Virtual reality (VR) tourism provides consumers with the opportunity to experience a destination in VR and can play a significant role in encouraging visitation and engaging in particular travel activities and behaviors. Hedonic motivation adoption frameworks with flow state and subjective well-being have been shown to have significant roles in continued use of information technology. However, research on a theoretically integrated hedonic motivation system adoption model (HMSAM) specifically with enjoyment, flow state, subjective well-being, and continued use has not previously been conducted with respect to VR tourism. To address this gap, this study develops and investigates a conceptually comprehensive model on the effect of consumers’ hedonic behaviors on continued use, with the moderating role of visitor or non-visitor at the destination portrayed in VR tourism. Results identified the highly significant effect of consumers’ perceived enjoyment on flow state and of flow state on subjective well-being. Continued use was greatly influenced by flow state and subjective well-being. Importantly for destinations association between usefulness and flow state had a significant moderating effect depending on whether a visitor or non-visitor. The findings offer new knowledge to researchers and industry in the VR tourism fields.

Highlights

Hedonic motivation has not previously been used to assess VR subjective well-being.

This study uses the hedonic adoption model to examine consumer use of VR tourism.

The effect of enjoyment on flow state is highly related to subjective well-being.

Flow state and subjective well-being significantly influence continued use of VR.

Visitor/non-visitor moderates the relationship between usefulness and flow state.
