Vol.24 No.2

Korea is currently accumulating a large amount of data in public institutions based on the public data open policy and the Government 3.0. Especially, a lot of data is accumulated in the tourism field. However, the academic discussions utilizing the tourism data are still limited. Moreover, the openness of the data of restaurants, hotels, and online tourism information, and how to use SNS Big Data in tourism are still limited. Therefore, utilization through tourism big data analysis is still low. In this paper, we tried to analyze influencing factors on foreign tourists satisfaction in Korea through numerical data using data mining technique and R programming technique. In this study, we tried to find ways to revitalize the tourism industry by analyzing about 36,000 big data of the Survey on the actual situation of foreign tourists from 2013 to 2015 surveyed by the Korea Culture & Tourism Research Institute. To do this, we analyzed the factors that have high influence on the Satisfaction, Revisit intention, and Recommendation variables of foreign tourists. Furthermore, we analyzed the practical influences of the variables that are mentioned above. As a procedure of this study, we first integrated survey data of foreign tourists conducted by Korea Culture & Tourism Research Institute, which is stored in the tourist information system from 2013 to 2015, and eliminate unnecessary variables that are inconsistent with the research purpose among the integrated data. Some variables were modified to improve the accuracy of the analysis. And we analyzed the factors affecting the dependent variables by using data-mining methods: decision tree(C5.0, CART, CHAID, QUEST), artificial neural network, and logistic regression analysis of SPSS IBM Modeler 16.0. The seven variables that have the greatest effect on each dependent variable were derived. As a result of data analysis, it was found that seven major variables influencing ‘overall satisfaction’ were sightseeing spot attraction, food satisfaction, accommodation satisfaction, traffic satisfaction, guide Korea is currently accumulating a large amount of data in public institutions based on the public data open policy and the Government 3.0. In addition, in order to grasp the influence of each independent variables more deeply, we used R programming to identify the influence of independent variables. As a result, it was found that the food satisfaction and sightseeing spot attraction were higher than other variables in overall satisfaction and had a greater effect than other influential variables. Revisit intention had a higher β value in the travel motive as the purpose of Korean Wave than other variables. It will be necessary to have a policy that will lead to a substantial revisit of tourists by enhancing tourist attractions for the purpose of Korean Wave. Lastly, the recommendation had the same result of satisfaction as the sightseeing spot attraction and food satisfaction have higher β value than other variables. From this analysis, we found that ‘food satisfaction’ and ‘sightseeing spot attraction’ variables were the common factors to influence three dependent variables that are mentioned above(‘Overall satisfaction’, ‘Revisit intention’ and ‘Recommendation’), and that those factors affected the satisfaction of travel in Korea significantly. The purpose of this study is to examine how to activate foreign tourists in Korea through big data analysis. It is expected to be used as basic data for analyzing tourism data and establishing effective tourism policy. It is expected to be used

Thiol-Michael Coupling and ROMP: Comparison of the Effects of Steric Hindrance with Functional Dendronized Polymer

        Tong Wu,Maojie Xuan,Xingyou Wang,Meina Liu 한국고분자학회 2019 폴리머 Vol.43 No.6

Dendronized exo-7-oxanorbornene monomers were synthesized and polymerized via thiol–Michael coupling and ring-opening metathesis polymerization. The polymerization rate was highly dependent on the steric hindrance of the terminal group. The space linker between the polymerizable group and dendron was a crucial factor. Ru-based kinetics was investigated using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), which showed that the monomer was completely converted to a generally narrow polydispersity material. The second generation of functional macromonomer was grafted from the first with a different linker length and consumed completely at 50 oC in toluene. Considering the properties of the space linker, we found that a short space linker of dendronized exo-7-oxanorbornene macromonomer leads to narrow molecular weight distributions of obtained dendronized polymers. This work provides a further understanding of the effect of steric hindrance on dendronized polymers, thereby allowing the development of functional materials.

Coral stone-inspired superwetting membranes with anti-fouling and self-cleaning properties for highly efficient oil–water separation

        Wensong Ma,Ligang Lin,Jing Yang,Zitian Liu,Xinyang Li,Meina Xu,Xiaopeng Li,Chunhong Wang,Qingping Xin,Kongyin Zhao 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.120 No.-

Nowadays, the use of separation membranes to deal with oil–water emulsions has gained popularity. However, oil fouling of membrane surfaces during the separation of oil–water emulsion is still a significantchallenge. In this study, inspired by the biological coral stone structure, the gel layer was firmlyattached to the surface of membrane using a simple co-blending and cross-linking strategy. A superwettingmembrane (PVDF/CD-SA) with a coral stone structure was obtained. The PVDF/CD-SA membranehad a high permeate flux that was 4.2 times higher than that of the original membrane and a high separationefficiency of about 99.2 % for the separation of oil–water emulsion. Furthermore, the membranehad outstanding chemical stability. The fluxes of several different oil-in-water emulsions significantlyimproved, and the separation efficiencies were as high as 98 %. Moreover, the separation efficienciesand contact angles of the membrane remained unchanged after numerous cycles of use. The membraneexhibited excellent superhydrophilicity in air (instantaneous water wetting in air) and superoleophobicityunder water (underwater oil contact angle > 156). Most importantly, the oil was able to automaticallydetach from the surface of membrane, resulting in self-cleaning performance. Therefore, this PVDF/CD-SAmembrane eliminated the problem of oil adhesion, exhibiting excellent potential for practical applicationsin oil–water separation.

      • The Yin-Yang of DNA Damage Response: Roles in Tumorigenesis and Cellular Senescence

        Li, Xiaoman,Xu, Hongde,Xu, Chongan,Lin, Meina,Song, Xiaoyu,Yi, Fei,Feng, Yanling,Coughlan, Kathleen A.,Cho, William Chi-shing,Kim, Sang Soo,Cao, Liu MDPI 2013 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR SCIENCES Vol.14 No.2

Senescent cells are relatively stable, lacking proliferation capacity yet retaining metabolic activity. In contrast, cancer cells are rather invasive and devastating, with uncontrolled proliferative capacity and resistance to cell death signals. Although tumorigenesis and cellular senescence are seemingly opposite pathological events, they are actually driven by a unified mechanism: DNA damage. Integrity of the DNA damage response (DDR) network can impose a tumorigenesis barrier by navigating abnormal cells to cellular senescence. Compromise of DDR, possibly due to the inactivation of DDR components, may prevent cellular senescence but at the expense of tumor formation. Here we provide an overview of the fundamental role of DDR in tumorigenesis and cellular senescence, under the light of the Yin-Yang concept of Chinese philosophy. Emphasis is placed on discussing DDR outcome in the light of in vivo models. This information is critical as it can help make better decisions for clinical treatments of cancer patients.
