The temperature and the DC biasing-field dependences of the dielectric permittivities along the [001]c, [011]c, and [111]c directions of the pseudocubic coordinates have been investigated in Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 (x = 6%). The temperature-electric-field phase diagrams have been clarified in the field range below 8 kV/cm. The critical endpoint has been found at 1.3 kV/cm and 164 ◦ C for an electric field applied along the [001]c direction. The concentration dependences of the critical temperature and the transition temperature are discussed. The expected transition temperature T0(x) at which the second-order phase transition would occur is shown to be determined by the transition temperature TCT (x) and the critical temperature TCEP (x).

Polarization reversal processes with 90 domain walls under a low-frequency field of 25 mHz were investigated on the ab-plane in the ferroelectric Bi4Ti3O12 crystal by using a polarizing microscope. We found that there are three kinds of modes in the polarization reversal of the a-domain, that is, changes of the width in a-domains, annihilations of needle-like a-domains, and polarization reversals within the a-domain. We point out that the a-domain in the 90 domain wall structure plays an important role in the polarization reversal process under a field along the b direction.X%1

Dielectric constants as functions of the temperature and the DC biasing fields along the [011] and the [111] directions in cubic coordinates in 92%Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-8%PbTiO3 (PZN-8%PT) have been investigated. The temperature-field phase diagrams have been made in the field range below 15 kV/cm. We have found that the orthorhombic phase exists below the tetragonal phase as a ground state. The tetragonal phase disappears for external fields above about 10 kV/cm along the [011] and the [111] directions.
Ferroelectric Domain Wall Structure in Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 Mixed Crystals by AFM
Makoto Iwata,Ikuo Suzuki,Kohei Katsuraya,Maeda Masaki,Naohiko Yasuda,Yoshihiro Ishibashi 한국물리학회 2005 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.46 No.1
Domain-wall structures in Pb(Zn1=3Nb2=3)O3-xPbTiO3 (PZN-xPT; x = 0 %, 8 %, 20 %) crystals were investigated by using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Ferroelectric and ferroelastic domainwallstructures were observed on the etched surface. In the rhombohedral phase, a zigzag domainwall structure was newly found. We showed that all of the ferroelastic domain-wall structures observed in the tetragonal and rhombohedral phases can be explained by the Sapriel theory, and concluded that no ferroelectric charged domain-wall exists in the PZN-xPT (x = 8 %, 20 %) crystal without an external eld. The symmetry of the crystal phase in PZN-8 %PT at room temperature is discussed. It was also found that the ngerprint pattern in PZN disappears after the poling process, even in a weak eld of about 50 V/cm, which is about 1/20 of the coercive field.

Domain-wall structures on an etched surface of the PZN-20 %PT crystal were investigated by the scanning probe microscopy (SPM). It was shown that 90 and 180 domain-wall structures can be observed. The surface charge due to the spontaneous polarization was detected by the electrostatic force microscopy (EFM). It was found that there exist complex 180 domain-wall structures with typical size of 1 m order on the (001)-crystal surface of the PZN-20 %PT.

The 180˚ domain wall structure on the (010) cleavage plane in triglycine sulfate (TGS) was investigated using scanning probe microscopy (SPM). We found that a step pattern with an interval of one half the lattice constant b appeared on the cleavage plane. Using friction force microscopy (FFM), the contrast of the friction image was found to be composed of two friction values in the step pattern, implying that the friction image shows an 180± domain wall structure. We also con¯rmed that the lenticular domain wall structure in TGS could be observed in the quenched sample by using FFM. Objective: To identify candidate predictors for the prognosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 2 (CIN2) lesions and evaluate the prognostic value of the local immune response. Methods: One hundred fifteen CIN2 patients were enrolled. The percentage of p16-, minichromosome maintenance complex component 2- or apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalytic subunit 3G (APOBEC3G)-positive cells was determined immunohistochemically. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in intertumoral lesions were scored using an automated system. CIN3 disease progression and regression rates were estimated by the Kaplan–Meier method. A case-control study was conducted to screen CIN2 prognostic factors in 10 regression and 10 progression patients. Selected factors were examined in a cohort study to determine their prognostic value for CIN2. Results: Among all participants, the cumulative progression and regression rates at 60 months were 0.477 and 0.510, respectively. In the case-control study, p16- and APOBEC3G-positive cells were higher in the progression group (p=0.043, p=0.023). Additionally, CD4+ cell infiltration was enhanced in the regression group (p=0.023). The cohort study revealed a significantly increased progression rate in patients with elevated p16-positive cells (p<0.001), and increased CD4+ TIL infiltration was associated with better regression (p=0.011). Kaplan–Meier analysis according to human papillomavirus (HPV) positivity revealed a greater CIN3 development risk in HPV16-positive patients than in HPV16-negative cases. Finally, multivariate analysis identified HPV16 infection and CD4+ TIL infiltration as independent prognostic factors in CIN2 regression. Conclusion: CD4+ TIL infiltration in intertumoral lesions was related with CIN2 regression. Our findings suggest CD4+ TIL infiltration may be useful for the triage of CIN2 patients.

Domain structrues in 0:72Pb(In1=2Nb1=2)O3-0.28PbTiO3[0.72PIN-0.28PT]mixed crystal was investigated by a polarized light microscopy. It was found that the (001) plate of 0.72PIN-0.28PT single crystal near a morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) exhibits complex domain structures, which consist of both the rhombohedral and the tetragonal phase intimately mixed together. The change in domain structures, re ecting the successive rhombohedral-tetragonal-cubic phase transition with heating was observed. The temperature dependence of the birefringence in 0.72PIN-0.28PT single crystal near a MPB was also presented. The change in domain structures in the (001) plate of 0.72PIN-0.28PT with the phase transition from rhombohedral to tetragonal ind훔

Morphological abnormalities of the pale grass blue butterfly, Zizeeria maha (Kollar) (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae), have been successfully used as an environmental indicator to assess the biological impacts of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. To prepare for future nuclear accidents or other human and natural disasters, we examined the morphological abnormality rate of this butterfly in southwestern Japan and built a pre-disaster reference data set. We collected butterfly samples, primarily in summer 2015 from 52 localities, which were categorized into three regional groups associated with the Sendai, Ikata, or Takahama Nuclear Power Plant. Mean values of the abnormality rate and the wing color pattern modification rate for localities were 3.8% and 0.8%, respectively, indicating that butterflies were not under severe anthropogenic stress. Using all collected samples, the abnormality rate of females (7.4%) was significantly higher than that of males (2.8%). We did not detect any significant correlations of the abnormality rate or modification rate with latitude, ground radiation dose, or distance from the nuclear power plants. Based on logistic regression analyses, sex, annual average temperature, and monthly average temperature might have influenced morphological abnormalities, suggesting possible direct and epigenetic temperature effects on morphogenesis. These data serve as a reference data set for future nuclear accidents or other artificial or natural environmental disasters in southwestern Japan.

The relation between polarization P and electric eld E in the solid solutions (1 .. x)Pb(Sc1=2Ta1=2)O3-xPbZrO3(PST-PZ) was investigated with the successive antiferroelectric (AFE) - ferroelectric(FE) - paraelectric(PE) phase transition with heating in the range of PZ compositions x > 0:8. It was found that P{E hysteresis loops change from the double P{E loop to the single one, re ecting the phase transition from AFE to FE. For the switching behavior in the AFE phase, it was found that the electric eld dependence of the reciprocal switching time and the peak switching current which characterize the switching transient consists of two parts ; one is the linear part at the high-eld region and the other is the curved part at the low-eld region.
