        6면 프리즘 렌즈가 장착된 렌즈메터에서 상점의 위치로부터 시험렌즈의 편심의 위치를 알아 낼 수 있는 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 6개의 프리즘에 의해 형성되는 6개의 상점은 시험렌즈의 편심의 극좌표에 의해 변하게 되며, 비틀린 광선 추적으로 계산할 수 있다. 광학 설계 프로그램인 Code V를 사용하여 렌즈메터 광학계를 분석하고, 시험렌즈의 위치에 따른 상점의 위치 변화를 함수로 나타내서 역으로 상점의 위치로부터 시험렌즈의 편심의 위치를 알아낼 수 있는 방법을 개발하였다. We have developed an algorithm to determine the decenter position from the image points in a lensmeter with 6-sided prism lens. The positions of the image points which are formed by six prisms depends on the decenter position of a test lens and can be calculated by skew ray tracing. The optical characteristics of the lens meter was analyzed using the Code V program and the positions of the image points was expressed as a function of the decenter position of the test lens. By minimizing the expectation error, we can determine the decenter position of a test lens from the image positions.

      • Nutritional and pharmaceutical properties of bioactive compounds in organic and conventional growing kiwifruit.

        <P>The bioactivity of two kiwifruit's cultivars growing under organic and conventional conditions were studied and compared. The bioactive compounds were extracted with water and ethanol using similar conditions which are applied in pharmaceutical applications and for daily fruit consumption such as tea drink. Antioxidant radical scavenging assays [ferric-reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP); cupric reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC); 2, 2-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS)], fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and ultraviolet spectroscopy, two (2D-FL) and three-dimensional (3D-FL) fluorometry were used for the detection of biologically active metabolites derived from kiwifruits (total phenols, flavonoids, chlorophylls, carotenoids and ascorbic acid). The correlation between the total phenol content (TPC) and other bioactive compounds, and their total antioxidant capacities (TAC) was calculated for studied kiwifruit's extracts. The interaction between drugs and human serum albumin (HSA) plays an important role in the distribution and metabolism of drugs. The properties of kiwifruit's phenol extracts showed their ability to quench HSA, forming the complexes similar to the ones between the proteins and pure flavonoids such as quercetin. The cultivar 'Bidan' exhibited significantly higher TAC than the classic 'Hayward'. In conclusion, for the first time 'Bidan' organic kiwifruit was analyzed and compared with widely consumed 'Hayward', using its bioactive and fluorescence properties. The influence of physiologically active kiwifruit's compounds on human health, through our investigations in vitro and scientifically proven information, was explained. Relatively high content of bioactive compounds, high antioxidant and fluorescence properties of kiwifruit justify its use as a source of valuable antioxidants.</P>

      • Organic and Conventional Kiwifruit, Myths versus Reality: Antioxidant, Antiproliferative, and Health Effects

        <P>Comparison between organic and conventional kiwifruit cultivars ‘Hayward’ and ‘Bidan’, which was done by four radical scavenging assays, ESI-MS, and DSC measurements, showed significant differences between the cultivars. Such results were not estimated in kiwifruit growing under organic and conventional conditions. The extraction of bioactive compounds was done by two different methods: sequential extraction with ethyl acetate followed by methanol and maceration with methanol and ethyl acetate. The highest yield of polyphenols was found in the new cultivar ‘Bidan’ in comparison with the classic ‘Hayward’, by direct extraction with methanol. This is the first investigation of ‘Bidan’ kiwifruit cultivar, grown under organic conditions and compared with ‘Hayward’ organic. High contents of bioactive compounds and antioxidant and antiproliferative properties of the two kiwifruit cultivars justify their use as sources of valuable antioxidants.         Expression of Ezrin and Metastatic Tumor Antigen in Osteosarcomas of the Jaw

        <P>AIMS AND BACKGROUND: Ezrin is a membrane-cytoskeleton linker protein involved in regulation of the growth and metastatic behavior of cancer cells. Metastatic tumor antigen (MTA) is a potential metastasis-associated protein. The objective of this study was to evaluate the expression of ezrin and MTA and their correlation with clinicopathological features in osteosarcomas of the jaw. METHODS: We analyzed ezrin and MTA protein levels by immunohistochemistry in 31 osteosarcomas of the jaw. RESULTS: The mean age at diagnosis was 39 years and half of the patients were male. The mandible (n = 19) was more frequently involved than the maxilla (n = 12). The predominant histological type was chondroblastic (58.1%) and 24 patients (77.4%) were classified as having a high grade of malignancy. Immunoreactivity for ezrin was identified in 6 of 31 cases (19.4%), while 77.4% displayed expression of MTA. All ezrin-positive patients had high-grade tumors. The high-grade tumors (n = 24) had a higher rate of MTA expression (42.9% vs 87.5%). Expression of ezrin and MTA was not significantly different according to age, sex, tumor site, histological type, and tumor ploidy. Follow-up information was available for 13 patients, with a mean follow-up time of 26.7 months (range, 6-48 months). At the time of last follow-up, 5 (38.5%) patients had died of disease and 8 patients (61.5%) were alive with no evidence of disease. Expression of ezrin and MTA was not significantly different according to the follow-up data. CONCLUSIONS: In our study, high-grade tumors had a higher rate of ezrin and MTA expression. This expression pattern indicates that ezrin and MTA positivity can be additional prognostic markers in osteosarcoma of the jaw.</P>

      • Analytical Determination of Bioactive Compounds as an Indication of Fruit Quality

        <P>The aim of this investigation was to determine the bioactive compounds in kiwifruit as an indication of quality after extraction using methanol and ethyl acetate. Using FTIR and three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy and electrospray ionization/MS, the contents of polyphenols, flavonoids, flavanols, and tannins, and the level of the antioxidant activity by 2, 2-azino-bis (3-ethyl-benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt, 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, ferric-reducing/ antioxidant power, and cupric reducing antioxidant capacity assays were determined and compared. It was found that the methanol extracts of kiwifruit showed significantly higher amounts of bioactive acetate extracts. The cultivar Bidan, in comparison compounds and antioxidant activities than the ethyl with the classic Hayward, showed significantly higher bioactivity. For the first time, Bidan organic kiwifruit was analyzed for its antioxidant activities and compared with the widely consumed Hayward organic based on its bioactive compounds and fluorescence properties. Relatively high content of bioactive compounds and positive antioxidant and antiproliferative properties of kiwifruit determined by the advanced analytical methods justify its use as a source of valuable antioxidants. The methods used are applicable for bioactivity determination, in general, for any food products.</P>

        Safety and immunogenicity of a Vi-DT typhoid conjugate vaccine: Phase I trial in Healthy Filipino adults and children

        <▼1><P><B>Highlights</B></P><P>•<P>Vi-DT is safe and well tolerated in participants aged 2–45 years.</P>•<P>Significantly higher immune responses post Vi-DT compared to Vi polysaccharide vaccine.</P>•<P>No further increase in GMT post second dose as compared to post first dose of Vi-DT.</P></P></▼1><▼2><P><B>Background</B></P><P>Typhoid fever remains a major public health problem in low- and middle-income countries where children aged 2–14 years bear the greatest burden. Vi polysaccharide is poorly immunogenic in children <2 years of age, and protection in adults is modest. The limitations of Vi polysaccharide vaccines can be overcome by conjugation of the Vi to a carrier protein. A typhoid conjugate vaccine composed of Vi polysaccharide conjugated to diphtheria toxoid (Vi-DT) has been developed. The Phase I study results are presented here.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>This was a randomized, observer-blinded Phase I study to assess the safety and immunogenicity of Vi-DT compared to Vi polysaccharide vaccine, conducted in Manila, Philippines. Participants enrolled in an age de-escalation manner (18–45, 6–17 and 2–5 years) were randomized between Test (Vi-DT, 25 µg) administered at 0 and 4 weeks and Comparator (Vi polysaccharide, Typhim Vi® and Vaxigrip®, Sanofi Pasteur) vaccines.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>A total of 144 participants were enrolled (48 by age strata, 24 in Test and Comparator groups each). No serious adverse event was reported in either group. Solicited and unsolicited adverse events were mild or moderate in both groups with the exception of a 4-year old girl in Test group with grade 3 fever which resolved without sequelae. All participants in Test group seroconverted after first and second doses of Vi-DT while the proportions in the Comparator group were 97.1% and 97.2%, after first dose of Typhim Vi® and second dose of Vaxigrip®, respectively. Vi-DT showed 4-fold higher Geometric Mean Titers (GMT) compared to Typhim Vi® (adjusted for age strata, p < 0.001). No further increase of GMT was detected after the second dose of Vi-DT. Anti-DT IgG seroresponse rates were 81.2% and 84.5% post first and second Vi-DT doses, respectively.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Vi-DT vaccine was safe, well-tolerated and immunogenic in participants aged 2–45 years.</P><P>ClinicalTrials.gov registration number: NCT02645032.</P></▼2>

        한ㆍ중 嫦娥 전승 소설의 공간서사 및 그 의의

        한국의 <숙향전>은 중국배경소설로서 중국의 <三戱白牧丹>과 공통으로 <嫦娥奔月> 서사를 전승하고 있는데, 공간 서사의 측면에서 상호 유사성이 주목할 만하다. 두 편의 소설에서는 瑤池-거주지-몸이라는 서사 공간이 정체성-해액-갱생의 의미와 대응을 이루면서, 嫦娥가 천계에서 이성과 희롱한 죄업으로 속계에 태어나, 인계에서의 고행을 통해 속죄의례를 수행 하고, 자신의 몸을 정화하여 완성된 자아로 거듭나기 위해 진력함을 나타낸다. 두 편의 소설에서 동일하게 나타나는 瑤池라는 공간은 西王母가 관장하는 천계의 중심부로 신성과 질서 그리고 권위를 상징하는 장소인데, 숙향과 白牧丹은 이성과의 희롱으로 인해 천계의 질서를 위배하게 됨으로써 스스로의 신분에 오점을 남기게 된다. 이렇게 볼 때, 瑤池는 숙향과 白牧丹의 죄업을 드러내는 공간인 동시에 前身이 嫦娥임을 증명하여 정체성을 나타내는 공간이기도 하다. 인계는 숙향과 白牧丹이 정화의례를 치르는 장소이자 숙명적인 인물들과 연계되는 공간이다. 특히 이들이 머무는 거주지는 안착을 통해 행복과 위안을 얻을 수 있는 공간이지만 위기와 곤경에 처했을 때는 안착지를 떠날 수밖에 없는 상황에 봉착한다. <숙향전>과 <三戱白牧丹>에서 볼 수 있는 또 다른 공간 서사의 특징으로 몸의 상징적 의미를 말할 수 있을 것이다. 숙향과 白牧丹에게 있어서의 몸은 정결한 영혼과 합일을 이루어야 할 공간이자, 고난을 몸소 체험하여 정화의례를 완성해야 하는 聖殿이다. 이런 의미에서 몸은 결국 이들이 완성을 이루어야 할 공간이며 완성된 자체로서 영원을 보장받을 수 있는 갱생의 장소로 인식된다. 이렇게 볼 때, <숙향전>과 <三戱白牧丹>은 공간서사의 측면에서 嫦娥의 죄업과 도피가 단지 지상과 달 속의 廣寒殿이라는 공간에 대응되는 공간적 단순성을 극복하고 <嫦娥奔月>의 공간적 '여지'를 창의적 시각으로 재해석하여 서사 공간의 무한한 확대와 발전에 대한 가능성을 보여주고 있다. 두 편의 소설은 이렇듯 공간 서사의 측면에서 동일한 틀을 형성하고 있지만 또 다른 한편으로 <숙향전>이 현실적 구복의식과 仙道적 의미의 결합을 지향하는데 비해 <三戱白牧丹>이 仙道적 이념을 강렬하게 표출한다는 점에서 지향의식에서의 차이점을 지닌다. Korean Sukyangjeon is a novel with Chinese setting which commonly transmit the narrative of Hanga fly to the moon along with Chinese Three Tricks on BaiMudan. Here, a mutual similarity is noteworthy in the aspects of space narrative. These two novels explain that Hanga is doing her best to be born again as a perfected ego by purifying her body, while performing a ritual of atonement through the ordeal in this human world after being born with the sinful karma of taunting the opposite sex during her stay in heaven. Here, the narrative space of Yaochi-abode-body form a comparative structure with the meaning of identity-eliminating misfortune-rehabilitation. The space called Yoji (瑤池:fairyland of immortals), as the center of heavenly realm where XiWangmu is taking charge signifies holiness, order and authority and through violating the order of heavenly realm due to playing around with the opposite sex, they get to leave a blot on their own statuses. Seen from this fact, Yoji becomes the space where Sukhyang and BaiMudan testifies their karmas as well as their identities proving that Sukhyang and Baimudan was Hanga. The human world is also seen as the place where Sukhyang and BaiMudan are going through the ritual of purification, and where they are related to their fatalistic figures. Although, the love nest where they reside is the space where they can gain happiness and consolation through peaceful settlement, they get to face with the situation that they have to leave this comfort base when they are in crisis and danger. The other characteristics of space narrative shown in Sukhyangjeon and Three Tricks on BaiMudan is the symbolistic meaning of body. To Sukhyang and BaiMudan, the body is not the space where there should be a unity with purified spirit, but also a sacred pavilion where the ritual of purification should be completed through experiencing ordeals by themselves. In this meaning, the body is recognized as the space where they have to fulfill completion as well as the place where the eternity is guaranteed as a completeness itself. Seen from this, in Sukhyangjeon and Three Tricks on BaiMudan, Hanga's sin and escape shows the possibility of infinite enlargement and development of narrative space through creatively reinterpreting the spatial room of Hanga fly to the moon, while overcoming the spatial simplicity which corresponds to the space of 'kwanghanjeon'(廣寒殿) on the earth and in moon. Likewise, these two novels reveal differences in its consciousness of intention in that Sukhyangjeon and Three Tricks on BaiMudan strongly expresses Taoistic idea, while Sukhyangjeon intends for a combination of realistic consciousness seeking fortune as well as the meaning of Taoism.

        대순진리회와 도교의 신앙체계에 관한 비교

        도교는 방대한 문화적 요소와 사상이 결합된 종교이므로 통일된 원칙과 원리로 설명하기 어려운 면이 있다. 그러나 신앙체계를 이루는 기본적 원리와 요소에 근거해 볼 때, 한 종교로서의 맥을 형성하는 기본적 틀을 지니고 있음을 부인할 수 없다. 본고에서는 이러한 점에 근거하여 대순진리회와 도교에서 나타나는 신앙체계, 그 중에서도 특히 수도관, 신앙관, 의례관, 심미관에 기초하여 종교적 특징들을 비교분석 해 보았다. 즉 수도관에서는 대순진리회와 도교가 공통적으로 심적수행을 근본으로 하지만 대순진리회의 수행은 다시 상생지도(相生之道)로 연결되어 짐으로써 도교에서의 자아수행을 위주로 한 수도적 개념과 상이한 면을 드러낸다. 신앙관에 있어서는 도교와 대순진리회에 있어서의 최고 신격의 의미를 비교하고 도교의 노자가 설파했던 무위자연설이 주로 철학적 사유로 발전한 데 비해 강성상제의 인세강림과 공사가 구제창생을 목적으로 둠으로써 현실적 위기감을 현시하고 있다는 점에 주목하였다. 의례관의 비교에 있어서는 대순진리회와 도교에서 드러나는 전통적인 경천(敬天)과 예(禮)의 사상에 관해 살펴보았고, 이 외에도 심미관을 논하는 부분에서는 대순진리회의 심미적 관념의 핵심이 도통진경과 지상실선실현의 추구라는 점과 도교의 심미관이 주로 성선(成仙)과 인간완성에 핵심을 두고 있음을 비교하여 보았다. 이러한 비교를 통해 볼 때 대순진리회와 도교의 신앙원리가 현시하는 핵심적 의미를 엿볼 수 있으며 유사성을 지닌 속에서도 근본적인 차이점이 존재하고 있음을 알 수 있다. It is difficult to explain Taoism with a unified doctrine or principle in that it is a religion which combines huge cultural elements and ideas. Yet, viewing from the basic principle and element, it is hard to deny that Taoism contains a basic framework which forms a legacy as a religion. This paper has compared and analyzed religious characteristics of the belief systems of Daesoonjinrihoe and Taoism, especially based on the view of practice, view of faith, view of rite and that of aesthetics. First, in view of practice, Daesoonjinrihoe and Taoism shares their view in the point which take spiritual practice as their basis. Yet, Daesoonjinrihoe`s practice differs from the Taoistic concept of self-asceticism in that it is more related to the conception of mutual beneficience. Second, in view of belief, the meaning of highest godhead is compared between Taoism and Daesoonjinrihoe. While Noja`s theory of ``leaving nature as it is`` is developed mainly into a philosophical reasoning, Daesoonjinrihoe reveals a realistic crisis centring on the descent of Sangje Kang and the reordering of Universe for the salvation of human world. Third, in comparison of view of rite, traditional Heaven-worship and the thought of courtesy were examined. Fourth, in the part of aesthetics view, it conclude that the core of Daesoonjinrihoe`s aesthetics idea lies on the realization of Do and earthly immortality where as the core of Taoism`s aesthetics idea is to realize Taoist hermit and human completion. Though those comparisons the core meaning revealing Daesoonjinrihoe & Taoism`s belief principle can be referred to have fundamental differences in seeming similarities.
