        Wavelet Reduced Order Observer based Adaptive Tracking Control for a Class of Uncertain Nonlinear Systems using Reinforcement Learning

        This Paper investigates the mean to design the reduced order observer and observer based controllers for a class of uncertain nonlinear system using reinforcement learning. A new design approach of wavelet based adaptive reduced order observer is proposed. The proposed wavelet adaptive reduced order observer performs the task of identification of unknown system dynamics in addition to the reconstruction of states of the system. Reinforcement learning is used via two wavelet neural networks (WNN), critic WNN and action WNN, which are combined to form an adaptive WNN controller. The “strategic” utility function is approximated by the critic WNN and is minimized by the action WNN. Owing to their superior learning capabilities, wavelet networks are employed in this work for the purpose of identification of unknown system dynamics. Using the feedback control, based on re-constructed states, the behavior of closed loop system is investigated. By Lyapunov approach, the uni-formly ultimate boundedness of the closed-loop tracking error is verified. A numerical example is pro-vided to verify the effectiveness of theoretical development.

        Experiences and Conceptualisation of Spinal Intramedullary Tuberculoma Management

        Objective: Spinal intramedullary tuberculoma (SIMT) is rare, accounting for 2/100,000 cases of tuberculosis and only 0.2% of all cases of central nervous system(CNS) tuberculosis. We share our experiences of 11 cases of this entity for improving diagnosis and conceptualize the management of this rare disease. Methods: The clinical profile, radiological data and management of 11 cases of SIMT which were managed either conservatively or by surgical intervention during last 27 years (1987-2014) were analysed. Results: Male:female ratio was 1.75:1. Five cases had associated pulmonary Koch’s. Most common site was thoracic cord. Two cases had concurrent multiple intracranial tuberculoma. Most common presentation was paraparesis. X-ray myelography was performed in two patients in the initial period of study suggesting intramedullary pathology. In the subsequent nine cases who had magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), seven showed typical ‘‘target sign’’ and conglomerate ring lesion. Out of 8 surgically managed patients, 6 cases improved rapidly and in 2 patients gradual improvement was seen in follow-up. Most common indication of surgical excision was rapid neurological deterioration followed by diagnosis in doubt. Histopathology confirmed tuberculous etiology of the intramedullary lesion in all. Clinical and radiological improvement was seen in all 3 conservatively managed patients in follow-up. Conclusion: MRI findings of SIMT were specific and proven histologically correct. Surgical intervention may be indicated if there is no response to chemotherapy, the diagnosis is in doubt, or there is a rapid deterioration in neurological function because surgical outcome is good in these circumstances.

        Effect of Different Seasons on Cross-Bred Cow Milk Composition and Paneer Yield in Sub-Himalayan Region

        The study was designed to evaluate the seasonal influences on cross-bred cow milk composition and paneer yield in Dhauladhar mountain range of sub-himalayan region. Fifty samples from each season were collected from a herd of $Jersey{\times}Red\;Sindhi{\times}Local$ cross-bred cows during summer (April-June), rainy (July-September) and winter (November-February) and analyzed for fat, total solids (TS) and solids not fat (SNF). Paneer was prepared by curdling milk at $85{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ with 2.5 per cent citric acid solution. Overall mean for fat, TS and SNF content of milk and paneer yield were 4.528, 13.310, 8.754 and 15.218 per cent respectively. SNF and TS content varied among seasons being highest in winter (8.983% and 13.639%) followed by summer (8.835% and 13.403%) and lowest in rainy season (8.444% and 12.888%). Paneer yield was lowest (14.792%) in rainy season and highest (15.501%) in winter season.

        Minimizing Cipher Text in Homomorphic Encryption Scheme for Cloud Data

        Cloud data security is major concern in cloud computing. Cloud data security must satisfy the three goals of security in computing - integrity, confidentiality and availability issues. Homomorphic encryption is a technique in which user or cloud service provider (CSP) can perform operations on cloud data without performing decryption. Many algorithms are available for homomorphic encryption. But these algorithms generate large size cipher text. This paper focuses on homomorphic encryption with small size cipher text. The cipher text created here is compared with Paillier encryption scheme and with our earlier approaches. In experimentation of this algorithm data is stored in DynamoDB of Amazon Web service (AWS) public cloud. When user requires data it can be downloaded on users machine and then decrypted. It is observed that it saves 20-40% memory space using this approach.

        Thirty-Six-Month Follow-up of Diaphragm Pacing with Phrenic Nerve Stimulation for Ventilator Dependence in Traumatic Tetraplegia: The Way Forward for Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation in a Developing Country

        Respiratory failure and chronic ventilator dependence in tetraplegics following cervical injuries located high on the spine (C1–C3) constitute significant challenges in the rehabilitation of patients given the occurrence of repeated hospitalizations and an ever-increasing financial burden. A 30-year-old man presented with posttraumatic tetraplegia following an unstable injury at the C1–C2 level with cord compression; he was managed by posterior stabilization and decompression followed by ventilator dependence and no rehabilitation until 6 months postinjury. We implanted phrenic nerve stimulator electrodes bilaterally for indirect diaphragm pacing by an implantable pulse generator that allowed for weaning from mechanical ventilation and spontaneous ventilator-free breathing at 20 weeks post-implantation and which facilitated post-tetraplegia rehabilitation. At 36 months after implantation, the patient is ventilator-free without any procedure-related complications or respiratory infections. Diaphragm pacing with phrenic nerve stimulation may be a way forward for ventilator-dependent tetraplegics in developing countries to pursue effective rehabilitation and improved quality of life.

      • Single Digit Hash Boyer Moore Horspool Pattern Matching Algorithm for Intrusion Detection System

        During the past time information on internet increasing enormously which greed the attacker and invite them for attack. In order to provide protection from illegal access the concept of Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is introduced. Intrusion detection system recognized as a powerful tool for identifying malicious attacks over the network. IDS works on the concept of string matching with the help of Detection engine. Detection engine of IDS uses String matching algorithm for comparing against malicious activities. This comparison takes enough processing time nearly 70% of the whole IDS processing time by improving performance of searching algorithm. In this paper, we proposed an enhanced version of Hash-Boyer-Moore-Horspool string matching algorithm by adding a single digit hash function for reduced the number of character comparisons and improve the efficiency of IDS by reducing the number of false positive match.

        Evaluation of Sodium Alignate as a Fat Replacer on Processing and Shelf-life of Low-fat Ground Pork Patties

        Low-fat ground pork patties, LFGPP (<10% total fat) formulated with 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 percent sodium alginate (SA) were processed and compositional, processing and sensory characteristics were compared with control patties containing 20% fat. The moisture content of raw and cooked LFGPP were significantly (p<0.05) higher than control patties because of greater amount of added water in the formulation. The cooking yield, moisture and fat retention also increased linearly in different treatments of LFGPP. The dimensional parameters such as gain in height, decrease in diameter and shrinkage were significantly (p<0.05) lower in LFGPP in comparison to control. Amongst the sensory attributes, flavour showed a declining trend with the increase in concentration of SA in LFGPP. However, low-fat patties with 0.1% SA rated similar to high-fat control. The lipid profile revealed 49.78 and 43.22% decrease in total lipids and cholesterol content respectively, compared to control. The calorie content was reduced significantly (p<0.05) in LFGPP. The texture profile of LFGPP with 0.1% SA was similar to that of high-fat control. The LFGPP remained stable without any appreciable loss of physico-chemical, microbiological and organoleptic quality during refrigerated storage ($4{{\pm}}1^{\circ}C$) for 21 and 35 days in aerobic and vacuum packaging respectively.

        In the present scenario most of the organization depends on the internet for their communication, storage and protection of their valuable data and other internal resources from the unauthorized access as the importance of internet is increasing rapidly the chances of attacks also increases in the ratio. Intrusion Detection System plays a very important role in network security. Its main role in the network is to help computer system to create and deal with network attacks. An IDS acts as a key component to ensuring the safety of any network or system on which it runs. IDS works on the concept of investigating all the incoming packets for the detection of any malicious activity. This is a survey paper on the various enhancements over the decades on IDS. Snort is a lightweight and open source software which used signature based IDS. In the survey, we used BASE for providing graphical interface for displaying the result. Its used world widely in Intrusion Detection and Prevention.

        Quality Characteristics of Low-fat Ground Pork Patties Containing Milk Co-precipitate

        The optimum level of fresh granulated low-calcium (0.2%) skim milk co-precipitate, as fat substitute in low-fat ground pork patties was determined on the basis of physico-chemical, cooking and sensory properties. Low-fat ground pork patties (<10% total fat), formulated with 15 per cent water, 4 per cent added fat, 1.5 per cent salt and 4-10 per cent milk co-precipitate, were evaluated for proximate composition, cooking characteristics and compared with control patties with 15 % added fat. The moisture and protein content of raw and cooked low-fat patties were significantly (p<0.05) higher than control. The incorporation of milk co-precipitate in low-fat patties improved cooking yield, fat and moisture retention and reduced shrinkage. The sensory properties of low-fat patties were comparable with control patties. The overall acceptability of low-fat patties formulated with 7% milk co-precipitate was significantly (p<0.05) higher than patties with 10% level and non-significantly (p<0.05) higher than low-fat patties containing 4% milk co-precipitate and control. Instrumental Texture Profiles of developed low-fat patties and control patties were comparable with slight increases in hardness and gumminess of the low-fat product. The developed low-fat ground pork patties (7% milk co-precipitate) had lower TBA values, better microbiological and sensory refrigerated storage stability than high-fat control patties packaged in air permeable films for 21 days.
