        Sensitive and selective m-tolyl hydrazine chemical sensor development based on CdO nanomaterial decorated multi-walled carbon nanotubes

        In this approach, the wet-chemical (co-precipitation) technique was used to prepare the cadmium oxide(CdO) nanoparticles (NPs) decorated with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNT) at low temperature. Thepowder XDR, UV–vis, TEM, XPS, and FTIR spectroscopy were used for detail characterization of thesynthesized CdO/CNT nanocomposite (NCs). A thin layer of CdO/CNT NCs was deposited onto a glassycarbon electrode (GCE) with conducting coating binder to obtain a chemical sensor which wassubsequently used to detect m-tolyl hydrazine hydrochloride (m-THyd) in buffer medium byelectrochemical approach for environmental safety. The proposed m-THyd chemical sensor exhibitedlong-term stability, good selectivity, broad linear dynamic range, lower detection limit, and enhancedelectrochemical response. The calibration curve of the current vs concentration of m-THyd was found tobe linear (r2 = 0.9903) over the linear dynamic range (LDR) of 0.01 nM to 0.1 mM. The sensitivity(25.7911 mA mM cm 2) of chemical sensor was calculated from the slope of calibration curve and surfacearea of GCE (0.0316 cm2) and the detection limit (4.0 0.2 pM) was estimated from the signal to noiseratio at 3. These preliminary results suggest that the newly developed CdO/CNT NCs nanocompositecould be promising electrochemical sensors for the detection of hazardous toxins to clean theenvironment in broad scales.

        Composition and Diversity of Tree Species in Kamalachari Natural Forest of Chittagong South Forest Division, Bangladesh

        Information on plant diversity and community structure are required to chalk out necessary actions for conservation management. The present study assessed the composition and diversity of tree species in Kamalachari Natural Forest of Chittagong South Forest Division, Bangladesh, during April 2010 to November 2011. A total of 107 tree species belonging to 72 genera and 37 families were recorded, where Moraceae family was represented by maximum (11) species. Density, Basal area and volume of tree species were 418±20.09 stem/ha, 21.10±2.62 m2/ha and 417.4±79.8 m3/ha respectively. Diameter and height class distribution of tree species revealed an almost reverse J-shaped curve. Both the number of species and percentage of tree individuals were maximum in the lower DBH and height ranges. Anthropogenic disturbances like illegal tree cutting, over extraction, settlement inside forest area etc. were noticed during the study, which are supposed to cause gradual decrease of both tree species and individuals in the higher DBH and height classes. However, Artocarpus chama was found dominant showing maximum IVI followed by Schima wallichii, Aporosa wallichii, and Lithocarpus acuminata. The quantitative structure of the tree species of Kamalachari natural forest is comparable to other tree species rich tropical natural forests. The findings of the study may help in monitoring future plant population changes of the identified species and adopting species specific conservation programs in Kamalachari natural forest.

        무선통신에서 페이딩은 피할 수 없는 문제이다. 그러므로 전송신호에 있어서는 BER 형태의 오류개념이 도입된다. 다른 페이딩 채널들 상에서 이러한 오류들의 동작을 인식하는 것이 필요하다. Coherent MPSK의 평균 BER에 대한 수학적인 해법을 얻기 위해서 몇 가지 기법들을 제안한다. 본 논문에서, 느리고 평탄한 라이시안 페이딩 채널 상에 diversity의 영향도 또한 분석되어진다. 여기서, 변조 지표 값 M은 변화하고 이 변화의 효과들 또한 묘사되어진다. 다양한 diversity 값과 페이딩 파라미터에 따른 성능 곡선들은 믿을 수 있는 통신 시스템을 위하여 무선 채널을 설계하고 평가하는데 유용하다. In wireless communication system, fading is an unavoidable problem. Hence, errors in form of BER are introduced with the transmitted signal. It is necessary to recognize the behavior of these errors in different fading channels. To obtain the mathematical solution for the average bit error rate(BER) of coherent MPSK, some techniques are presented. In this paper, the impact of diversity is also analyzed over slow and flat Rician fading channel. In here, the value of modulation index, M is varied and the effects of its variation are also depicted. So, these performance curves with different diversity values and fading parameter are useful to design and evaluate the radio channel for faithful communication system.

      • Secure Mobile Commerce in Ad hoc Network Using CAEC2M

        M-Commerce applications in the world have grown exponentially over the years. It had set up for mobile users to engage wirelessly of ad hoc network infrastructure in online business irrespective of place or time. Providing anonymous, secure and trust based connection service in ad hoc network is quite a challenging task. Anonymity, security and privacy of the transaction or message transmission are the highest priority need to be delivered to the destination node on time. In this paper, a CAEC2M (Cellular Automata Elliptic Curve Cryptography Mix network) algorithm to secure Mobile Commerce over ad hoc network is proposed. An attempt is made to design a mix-network (Mix-Net) using elliptic curve cryptography based on cellular automata which creates a hard to trace communication to protect the anonymity of the sender and encrypt the sensitive information to avoid any eavesdropper trying to access the data during transmission. CAEC2M provides also confidentiality, integrity and authentication.

      • Soluble DPP-4 up-regulates toll-like receptors and augments inflammatory reactions, which are ameliorated by vildagliptin or mannose-6-phosphate

        Objective: Studies have shown that dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors have anti-inflammatory effects. Soluble DPP-4 (sDPP-4) has been considered as an adipokine of which actions need to be further characterized. Methods: We investigated the pro-inflammatory actions of sDPP-4 and the anti-inflammatory effects of DPP-4 inhibition, using vildagliptin, as an enzymatic inhibitor, and mannose-6-phosphate (M6P) as a competitive binding inhibitor. Results: In lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells, vildagliptin suppressed the increased expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and phosphorylated JNK (pJNK), activation of the NF-κB pathway, and the resultant NO and proinflammatory cytokine production. Although sDPP-4 alone did not affect the protein level of iNOS or pJNK or the production of NO in RAW264.7 cells, it did amplify iNOS expression, NO responses, and proinflammatory cytokine production in LPS-stimulated RAW264 cells. As a probable mechanism, we found that sDPP-4 caused dose-dependent increases in the expression levels of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and TLR2 in RAW264.7 cells, and that these alterations were inhibited by vildagliptin, M6P, or bisindolylmaleimide II, a protein kinase C inhibitor. Either vildagliptin or M6P suppressed iNOS expression and NO and cytokine production in LPS+DPP-4-co-stimulated macrophages, while combined treatment of the co-stimulated cells with both agents had increased anti-inflammatory effects compared with either treatment alone. Intravenous injection of sDPP-4 to C57BL/6J mice increased the expression of both TLRs in kidney and white adipose tissues. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that sDPP-4 enhances inflammatory actions via TLR pathway, while DPP-4 inhibition with either an enzymatic or binding inhibitor has anti-inflammatory effects.

        A chemiluminescence (CL) method is reported for the determination of melamine by flow injection analysis (FIA). This method is based on the reaction of melamine with Ru(bipy)3 2+ and Ce(IV) in presence of colloidal platinum nanopartilces to produce CL. Under optimal condition, CL intensity was linearly related with melamine concentration. The calibration curve was linear over the range of 5.0×10-9-2.0×10-6 M with the limit of detection, 9.8×10-9 M. The relative standard deviation of 1.0×10-7 M melamine was found 2.5% (n=10).

      • Production of Virus Free Seeds using Meristem Culture in Tomato Plant under Tropical Conditions

        Protocol was established for production of virus free healthy seeds using meristem ($0.3-0.5\;\cal{mm}$ in size) culture and field management under net house condition in tomato. The isolated meristem was found well established in MS liquid medium containing $0.1\;\cal{mg}\;1^{-1}\;of\;GA_3$. For shoot and root development either from primary meristem or from nodal segment of meristem derived plants, semisolid MS medium having $0.5\;\cal{mg}\;1^{-1}$ of IBA was found most effective. The elimination of the studied viruses (ToMV, CMV, ToLCV) in meristem-derived plants was confirmed by DAS-ELISA test. For field management of the virus eradicated meristem-derived plants, use of net house was found very effective measures to check viral vector visit and eventually infection. The meristem-derived plants were vigor and high yielder than the native seed derived plants and produced healthy seeds. Due to stop vector visit, no viral symptoms were observed in both $R_1\;and\;R_2$ plants cultivated in net house condition. Starting of viral infestation was observed in $R_2$ generation when they were planted in open house condition without control of vector visit. Therefore, for management of viral diseases, use of virus free meristem derived plantlets and their subsequent cultivation in soil under net house condition without using any vector killing insecticide can be recommended for producing healthy seeds in tomato. The developed protocol for environmentally healthy tomato seed production in Bangladesh may be used in the countries having similar tropical like environment conducive for viral vector visit.

        Use of Tannery Wastes in the Diet of Broiler

        Tannery waste contained 90.93% DM, 77.02% CP, 0.77% CF, 2.83% EE, 7.19% ash and 3,450 kcal ME/kg DM. A total of 144 day-old broiler chicks were divided into three dietary groups; $D_1$ (Containing 10% protein concentrate-PC), $D_2$ (Containing 5% PC+5% tannery waste-TW) and $D_3$ (Containing 10% TW) having 3 replicates of 16 chicks in each. The birds were fed broiler starter diet containing 22% CP, 3,000 kcal ME/kg and broiler finisher diet containing 21% CP, 3,100 kcal ME/kg up to 42 days of age, and meat yield traits were measured from the representative birds from each replication to asses the feasibility of using tannery waste in the diet of broiler. Feed intake, live weight, feed conversion efficiency and livability did not differ between diets (p>0.05) but the cost of production and profitability differed significantly (p<0.001). Profitability of D1, D2, and D3 diets were 2.98, 9.90 and 14.04 Taka/kg respectively. Diets did not affect on meat yield traits (p>0.05), except gizzard, shank and feather weight (p<0.01). Gizzard and shank weigh were improved with increasing level of tannery wastes in the diet, hence tannery waste can be used without any harmful effect in the broiler diet.
