        Effect of Contact Pressure on Reciprocating Wear Behavior of PEEK, PTFE, and UHMWPE

        Engineering plastics are macromolecular compounds composed of covalently bonded macromolecules, which have been widely used in sliding wear-resistance materials in isolation bearings. In this study, an MFT-5000 reciprocating friction testing machine was used to compare the friction and wear performance of polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) under heavy load conditions in dry friction condition. The results show that load has a significant effect on the friction coefficient, wear rate, and wear mechanism of three materials. The instant friction coefficient of PTFE fluctuates under high load, the wear rate clearly increases with the increase in load. Therefore, the application under high load conditions is limited. The wear rate of UHMWPE is the least affected by the load among the three materials. Even when the load exceeds the yield strength, the wear resistance is still good. The friction coefficient of PEEK decreases with the increase in load but maintains a high value that restricts its application in sliding friction pair materials to some degree.

        Optimal Service Restoration and Adaptive Switching of Tie Switches Method of Distributed Self-healing Control in Distribution Systems

        Because the distribution networks distribute electric energy to customers, has many equipment, a wide range and complex network structure, various failures are prone to occur. Rapid failure self-healing is the key means to improve the reliability of power supply in distribution network. This paper proposes a method for fast service restoration of out-of-service areas without failures based on peer-to-peer (P2P) communication of intelligent terminals. It uses distributed intelligent terminal units as the algorithm carrier and a P2P communication network composed of loop Ethernet. It can accurately distinguish the normal state and the failure state based on the generalized Kirchhoff Current Law setting and realize the failure location and isolation without the delay setting problem of the three-stage current protection. In order to verify its effectiveness, a 0.4 kV dynamic simulation model was developed, and scenarios including different types of switches and different topologies are established. The experimental results show that, unlike other algorithms, such as building a convex model, then, using various intelligent algorithms to solve it, the proposed method can complete the load transfer more quickly, whether switches are all circuit breakers, or partly circuit breakers and partly load switches. In the former case, service restoration can be completed within 2.4 s, faster than other centralized or distributed methods, even when the failure occurs in the worst point, as is shown in the results of test scenario 1. In addition, in the latter case, service restoration can be achieved at least within 4.2 s.

        Tribological Properties of PAO40@SiO2/UHMWPE Composites Subjected to Heavy-loading Conditions

        In the present study, the ballistic impact resistance of kevlar reinforced polymer composites and shape memoryalloy sheet reinforced kevlar epoxy polymer composites have been compared numerically and experimentally. The testspecimens have been fabricated by the hand layup method, and the ballistic impact test has been conducted accordingto NIJ Level IIIA. In the current research, a new method has been proposed to measure the ballistic impact resistanceof the material by using Image J software. From the test results, it has been observed that reinforcement of shape memoryalloy in kevlar epoxy polymer composites has increased the ballistic impact resistance by 89-145% for the damaged areacompared with plain kevlar reinforced epoxy polymer composite. Also, the damaged area observed in the numerical andthe experimental results is almost the same.

        A comprehensive quality analysis of randomized controlled clinical trials of Asian ginseng and American ginseng based on the CONSORT guideline

        Ginseng is an international herb that has been used for thousands of years. Two species most commonly applied and investigated in the ginseng family are Asian ginseng and American ginseng. The number of randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) has conspicuously increased, driven by the rapid development of ginseng. However, the reporting of RCT items of ginseng is deficient because of different trial designs and reporting formats, which is a challenge for researchers who are looking for the data with high quality and reliability. Thus, this study focused on providing an extensive analysis of these two species and examined the quality of the RCTs, based on the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) guideline. Ninety-one RCTs conducted from 1980 to 2019 that were related to Asian ginseng and American ginseng used singly met our inclusion criteria. We found that the reporting quality of the two species has improved during the past 40 years. Publication date and sample size were significantly associated with the reporting quality. Rigorous RCTs designed for the species of ginseng are warranted, which can shed light on product research and development of ginseng in the future.
