      • Interference of Fisetin with Targets of the Nuclear Factor-κB Signal Transduction Pathway Activated by Epstein-Barr Virus Encoded Latent Membrane Protein 1

        Li, Rong,Liang, Hong-Ying,Li, Ming-Yong,Lin, Chun-Yan,Shi, Meng-Jie,Zhang, Xiu-Juan Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.22

Fisetin is an effective compound extracted from lacquer which has been used in the treatment of various diseases. Preliminary data indicate that it also exerts specific anti-cancer effects. However, the manner in which fisetin regulates cancer growth remains unknown. In this study, we elucidated interference of fisetin with targets of the nuclear factor ${\kappa}B$ signal transduction pathway activated by Epstein-Barr virus encoding latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1)in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells, Results showed that fisetin inhibited the survival rate of CNE-LMP1 cells and NF-${\kappa}B$ activation caused by LMP1. Fisetin also suppressed nuclear translocation of NF-${\kappa}B$ (p65) and $I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$ phosphorylation, while inhibiting CyclinD1, all key targets of the NF-${\kappa}B$ signal transduction pathway. It was suggested that interference effects of fisetin with signal transduction activated by LMP1 encoded by the Epstein-Barr virus may play an important role in its anticancer potential.

      • Generative geometry as the mathematical basis for the history-based parametric modeling

        Li, Rong,Han, SoonHung (사)한국CDE학회 2012 한국 CAD/CAM 학회 학술발표회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.2

Computer-aided design (CAD) relies on two foundations: (1), mathematical theory, especially discrete mathematics; (2), solid representation schemes. The prevalent researches on modern CAD systems have been the history?based modeling. There are two primary achievements in this area over past decade: one is parametric and feature-based modeling; the other one is constraint-based design. Both brought tremendous development to CAD/CAM applications, and facilitated designers to update geometric objects with different parameters. However, they are approaches that concerned only about the representation of a shape, totally ignored its structural description. Solid modeling is nowadays enjoying marvelous progress because of the accomplishments from the computer science field. CAD system providers offer unlimited freedom for designers to display their intents on the monitor. Obviously, the mathematic theory on intelligent geometry has been lagged behind the representation researches, and thus, resulted in the lack of formal depiction on geometric history. This research based upon the generative geometry, in which the evolution of geometric object was able to be described in manners of logic.

Synthesis and Chromatographic Characteristics of Multidentate Ligand-Boned Silica Stationary Phases

        Li, Rong,Wang, Yan,Chen, Guo-Liang,Shi, Mei,Wang, Xiao-Gang,Zheng, Jian-Bin Korean Chemical Society 2010 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.31 No.8

To improve the separation property and stability of metal chelate Cu(II) column, three new kinds of multidentate aminocarboxy silica columns with cation-exchange properties were synthesized using glutamic acid (Glu), glutamic acidbromoacetic acid (Glu-BAA), glutamic acid-bromosuccinic acid (Glu-BSUA) as ligands and silica gel as matrix. The standard proteins were separated with prepared chromatographic columns. The stationary phases exhibited the metal chelate property after fixing copper ion (II) on the synthesized multidentate ligand silica columns. The binding capacity of immobilized metal ion was related with the dentate number of multidentate ligands. Chromatographic behavior of proteins and the leakage of immobilized metal ion on multidentate chelate Cu(II) columns were affected by the dentate number of multidentate ligands and competitive elution system directly. The results showed that quinquedentate Glu-BSUA-Cu(II) column exhibited better chromatographic property and stability as compared with tridentate Glu-Cu(II) column, tetradentate Glu-BAA-Cu(II) column and commonly used IDA-Cu(II) column.

Chromatographic Behavior of Proteins on Stationary Phase with Aminocarboxy Ligand

        Li, Rong,Ju, Ming-Yang,Chen, Bin,Sun, Qing-Yuan,Chen, Guo-Liang,Shi, Mei,Wang, Xiao-Gang,Zheng, Jian-Bin Korean Chemical Society 2011 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.32 No.2

An aminocarboxy aspartic acid-bonded silica (Asp-Silica) stationary phase was synthesized using L-aspartic acid as ligand and silica gel as matrix. The standard protein mixtures were separated with prepared chromatographic column. The effects of solution pH, salt concentration and metal ion on the retention of proteins were examined, and also compared with traditional iminodiacetic acid-bonded silica (IDA-Silica) column. The results show that Asp-Silica column exhibited an excellent separation performance for proteins. The retention of proteins on Asp-Silica stationary phase was consistent with electrostatic characteristic of cation-exchange. The stationary phase displayed typical metal chelate property after fixing copper ion (II) on Asp-Silica. Under competitive eluting condition, protein mixtures were effectively isolated. Asp ligand showed better ion-exchange and metal chelating properties as compared with IDA ligand.

      • Tibetan-Chinese Bilingual Sentences Alignment Method based on Multiple Features

Lirong Qiu 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.8 No.4

Sentence-level aligning bilingual parallel corpus is shown significant and indispensable status in machine translation, translation knowledge acquiring and bilingual lexicography research fields, which is the fundamental work for natural language processing. Given the great deal of work in sentence alignment and a variety of methods have developed for bilingual terminology extraction, those are unpractical for newly underway Tibetan information processing because those methods have to use a large number of manufactured sentences as training corpus while extracting inter-translatable word pairs. This paper proposes a multi-strategy Tibetan-Chinese sentence alignment method based on length of sentence, syntactic rules and bilingual dictionary. We test our approach on a bilingual corpus crawled from bilingual website and perform manual evaluation on bilingual sentences pairs extracted from Tibetan-Chinese corpora.

Synthesis of Magnetic Sonophotocatalyst and its Enhanced Biodegradability of Organophosphate Pesticide

Lirong, Meng,Jianjun, Shi,Ming, Zhao,Jie, He Korean Chemical Society 2014 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.35 No.12

A magnetic sonophotocatalyst $Fe_3O_4@SiO_2@TiO_2$ is synthesized for the enhanced biodegradability of organophosphate pesticide. The as-prepared catalysts were characterized using different techniques, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The radial sonophotocatalytic activity of $Fe_3O_4@SiO_2@TiO_2$ nanocomposite was investigated, in which commercial dichlorvos (DDVP) was chosen as an object. The degradation efficiency was evaluated in terms of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and enhancement of biodegradability. The effect of different factors, such as reaction time, pH, the added amount of catalyst on $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiency were investigated. The average $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiency reached 63.13% after 240 min in 12 L sonophotocatalytic reactor (catalyst $0.2gL^{-1}$, pH 7.3). The synergistic effect occurs in the combined sonolysis and photocatalysis which is proved by the significant improvement in $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiency compared with that of solo photocatalysis. Under this experimental condition, the $BOD_5/COD_{Cr}$ ratio rose from 0.131 to 0.411, showing a remarkable improvement in biodegradability. These results showed that sonophotocatalysis may be applied as pre-treatment of pesticide wastewater, and then for biological treatment. The synthesized magnetic nanocomposite had good photocatalytic performance and stability, as when it was used for the fifth time, the $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiency was still about 62.38%.

      • The Motivation of Electronic Voting towards Game Theory

Lirong Qiu 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.5

With rapid development of computer science and network technology, the technology of electronic voting is widely applied in various fields. There are lots of security requirements in electronic voting such as privacy, verifiability, fairness and robustness etc. Previous works mainly discuss how to guarantee these requirements by using cryptographic tools, such as encryption, commitment etc. There, most works assume that parties are honest who will follow the protocol or malicious who will arbitrarily break the security of the protocol. In fact parties in real life are neither honest nor malicious, but instead they may consider the benefits when they decide to participate in voting. This paper discusses the motivations of parties to participate into voting towards the view of game theory. More specifically, motivations are quantized as the notion of utilities just as those in game theory. Then we prove how to assign people to have motivations to vote by achieving Nash equilibrium.

Toll-like receptor 4/nuclear factor-kappa B pathway is involved in radicular pain by encouraging spinal microglia activation and inflammatory response in a rat model of lumbar disc herniation

( Lirong Zhu ),( Yangliang Huang ),( Yuming Hu ),( Qian Tang ),( Yi Zhong ) 대한통증학회 2021 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.34 No.1

Background: Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common cause of radicular pain, but the mechanism is not clear. In this study, we investigated the engagement of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) in radicular pain and its possible mechanisms. Methods: An LDH model was induced by autologous nucleus pulposus (NP) implantation, which was obtained from coccygeal vertebra, then relocated in the lumbar 4/5 spinal nerve roots of rats. Mechanical and thermal pain behaviors were assessed by using von Frey filaments and hotplate test respectively. The protein level of TLR4 and phosphorylated-p65 (p-p65) was evaluated by western blotting analysis and immunofluorescence staining. Spinal microglia activation was evaluated by immunofluorescence staining of specific relevant markers. The expression of proand anti-inflammatory cytokines in the spinal dorsal horn was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results: Spinal expression of TLR4 and p-NF-κB (p-p65) was significantly increased after NP implantation, lasting up to 14 days. TLR4 was mainly expressed in spinal microglia, but not astrocytes or neurons. TLR4 antagonist TAK242 decreased spinal expression of p-p65. TAK242 or NF-κB inhibitor pyrrolidinedithiocarbamic acid alleviated mechanical and thermal pain behaviors, inhibited spinal microglia activation, moderated spinal inflammatory response manifested by decreasing interleukin (IL)- 1β, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-α expression and increasing IL-10 expression in the spinal dorsal horn. Conclusions: The study revealed that TLR4/NF-κB pathway participated in radicular pain by encouraging spinal microglia activation and inflammatory response.

      • An Opinion Analysis Model for Implicit Aspect Expressions based on Semantic Ontology

Lirong Qiu 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.8 No.5

Analyzing user opinion and building features model of entities is very important for sentiment analysis and opinion mining, which is the fundamental work for social network analysis. Opinions of entity can be classified into two types: explicit aspect expressions and implicit aspect impressions, and implicit aspect expressions might have some relationships which can be denoted by domain specific knowledge, existing previous works have not addressed in much detail. This paper defines an opinion mining model for implicit aspect expression based on semantic ontology, and proposes semantic similarity estimation approaches of entity by the domain ontology.
