      • Neurotransmitter identity of the developing midbrain

        The midbrain is the smallest region and play a critical role in the central nervous system that acts as a sort of relay station for auditory and visual information. It controls many important functions such as the visual and auditory systems as well as eye movement. Dbx1 is a group of transcription factor involved in neuronal fate specification belonging to a widely conserved family among bilaterians and Dbx1 also controls the formation of neural networks governing physiological functions which were fundamental during mammalian evolution. Although Dbx1 is widely expressed all the region of the mouse brain, the role of Dbx1 in brain development in the midbrain remains poorly understood. In this study, Our data showed the expression pattern of Dbx1 in the mouse midbrain. Besides, we generated Dbx1-null mutant mice and confirmed the null phenotype by the complete loss of Dbx1 expression in the homozygous mutant (Dbx1/) embryos. Using this mouse line, we demonstrate that Dbx1 was selectively expressed in GABAergic and glutamatergic neurons in the midbrain. Moreover, Dbx1 activity appears to be required for suppression of glutamatergic neurons generation as well as for induction of GABAergic neurons.

      • Irisin attenuates hepatic stellate cell activation and liver fibrosis in bile duct ligation mice model and improves mitochondrial dysfunction

        Background: Liver fibrosis is a common outcome of chronic liver disease and is primarily driven by hepatic stellate cell (HSC) activation. Irisin, a myokine released during physical exercise, is beneficial for metabolic disorders and mitochondrial dysfunction. This study aimed to discover the effects of irisin on liver fibrosis in HSCs, a bile duct ligation (BDL) mouse model, and the associated mitochondrial dysfunction. Methods: In vitro experiments utilized LX-2 cells, a human HSC line, stimulated with transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) which is a major regulator of HSC fibrosis, with or without irisin. Mitochondrial function was assessed using mitochondrial fission markers, transmission electron microscopy, mitochondrial membrane potential, and adenosine triphosphate production. In vivo, liver fibrosis was induced in mice via BDL, followed by daily intraperitoneal injections of irisin (100 µg/kg/day) for 10 days. Results: In vitro, irisin mitigated HSC activation and reduced reactive oxygen species associated with the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway. Irisin restored TGF-β1-induced increases in fission markers (Fis1, p-DRP1) and reversed the decreased expression of TFAM and Sirt3. Additionally, irisin restored mitochondrial membrane potential and adenosine triphosphate production lowered by TGF-β1 treatment. In vivo, irisin ameliorated the elevated liver-to-body weight ratio induced by BDL and alleviated liver fibrosis, as evidenced by Masson’s trichrome staining. Irisin also improved mitochondrial dysfunction induced by BDL surgery. Conclusion: Irisin effectively attenuated HSC activation, ameliorated liver fibrosis in BDL mice, and improved associated mitochondrial dysfunction.       • Hydrochemical processes of groundwater during recharge through a soil profile in JeJu island

        Jeju is a volcanic island composed predominantly of permeable basalts, in which the water resources mainly depend on groundwater from basaltic aquifers due to lacking of perennial rivers. For groundwater quality management, it is essential to understand the geochemical processes during the groundwater circulation within the aquifer system. In this context, this study elucidates the geochemical controls on recharging groundwater based on the repetitive hydrochemical analyses on rainwaters, soil waters and underlying groundwater along a vertical profile in Pyosun catchment of the Jeju island from January to February 2012. The observed results showed the significant variations in ionic compositions and water isotopic values through the vertical soil profile. Conservative parameters and d-excess values from the isotopic values revealed that the different water bodies exist along the depth. The variation was steady-state temporally although 12 rainfall events occurred during the sampling period. These results indicate that rainwaters infiltrate into underlying aquifer diffusively and the vertical hydrochemical change can be controlled by water-mineral interactions and biogeochemical processes through the soil zone. We analyzed the physical properties of the studied soil profile in the relations with the hydrochemical variability.

      • 베트남에 진출한 한국 기업에서 상사와의 대인 관계 커뮤니케이션이 조직에 대한 신뢰와 만족에 미치는 영향 : 불확실성 회피성향 및 권력거리가 조절 효과로

        Many Korean enterprises have the tendency to invest into Vietnam. Korean firms operating in Vietnam have internally many problems, such as difficulties in relationship between Korean bosses and Vietnamese employees due to language and culture barrier. In addition, there is a shortage of research on Vietnamese investment market in different regions or research on suggestion of accommodation measures, success strategies for Korean firms to invest into Vietnam. Therefore, this study focuses on researching the impacts of communication relationship with bosses of Vietnamese staffs on the faith and satisfaction of the company. To guarantee the aforementioned hypothesis and topics, the author has delivered survey papers to 192 Vietnamese staff who are working in Korean offcies with branches in Vietnam by the method of Convenience sampling. The papers are collected and analysed by the SPSS 18.0 program. Conclusions of the essay are summarized as follows: First of all, internal communications, leader- member interpersonal communication in particular has made positive impact on the confidence on the organizations, companies and on the satisfaction toward the companies of staff. Of all aspects of communication relationship with Korean bosses, favorability, similarity, stability, information satisfiability have positive effects, of which acceptability with Korean bosses has the most important impact on the confidence and satisfaction toward the company. Second, the paper studies the role of moderating of 2 cultural factors, Uncertainty Avoidance and Power distance toward the relationship of communication with bosses and confidence as well as the satisfaction with the company. It is added that cultural factor of individuals makes no impact on the communication with bosses, confidence and satisfaction with the company. In conclusion, this essay has made several essential conclusions on academic aspect as well as proposal on studies in the future. 최근들어 한국기업들이 베트남에 많이 진출하고 있는 추세가 보인다. 베트남 시장에서 현제 경영활동을 펼치고 있는 한국 기업들 내에 많은 문제를 발생하고 있는 가운데 베트남 직원들과 한국인 상사로부터 생긴 의사불통, 언어로 부터 생길 충돌이 발생하곤 한다. 이를 더불어 베트남 같은 특별된 지역에 진출한 한국 기업들 위한 경영전략과 적응 방안들이 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 베트남 진출한 한국 기업에서 상사와의 대인 관계 커뮤니케이션이 조직에 대한 신뢰와 만족에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 더 나아가 불확실성 회피성향, 권력거리 같은 문화적인 요인들과의 조절 효과를 규명해 보고자 한다. 본 연구에 대한 가설들과 연구문제를 검증하기 위해 현재 베트남에 위치한 한국 기업에서 일을 하고 있는 192명의 베트남 직원들을 편의표집 방법으로 설문지를 의뢰하였고, 추출된 유의미한 표본을 바탕으로 데이터 분석을 실시했다. 결과는 다음과 요약할 수 있다. 첫 째, 조직 내의 사내 커뮤니케이션, 구체적으로는 상사와 대인 관계 커뮤니케이션이 조직에 대한 신뢰에뿐 만 아니라 조직에 대한 만족까지 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 상사와 대인 관계 커뮤니케이션이 있어서 호의성, 유사성, 수용성, 안정성, 정보만족성 중에 특히 수용성이 가장 직원의 조직에 대한 신뢰와 만족에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혔다. 둘째, 개인의 문화적인 요인들 중에 불확실성 회피성향과 권력거리를 초점을 두고 상사와의 대인 관계 커뮤니케이션과 조직에 대한 신뢰와 만족에 미치는 영향 관계에서 조절 효과가 있는지를 살펴 보았다. 결과로는 두가지의 문화적인 요인 모두 유의한 영향을 미치지 않은 것으로 보여줬다. 즉, 개인적인 문화 특징이 상사와의 커뮤니케이션과 조직-공중관계성의 관계에 아무 영향을 주지 않는 것이다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 실증분석의 검증을 통해 얻은 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 학무적. 실무적 시사점 및 향후 연구들의 제안을 제시한 바가 있다.
