Effect of the grain size on the wear resistance of Al2O3 dispersed Y-TZP ceramics

Liang Xiaoping,Fan Xiaowei,Huai Xuguo,Li Jianxin 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2010 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.11 No.3

Using a block-on-ring tribometer with the revolving motion of high chromium cast iron (HCCI) ring against Al2O3 dispersed Y-TZP ceramics (ADZ) blocks, the wear resistance of ADZ ceramics with different grain sizes of ZrO2 was investigated at room temperature. The results show that there was no direct relation found between the grain size and the wear resistance of ADZ ceramics. The tetragonal (t) monoclinic (m) martensitic transformation occurred during the friction process. Only for suitably sized t-ZrO2 particles, the tm martensitic transformation occurred under the action of the frictional stress, and the phase transformation is beneficial for the wear resistance of ADZ ceramics. When the grain size of t-ZrO2 particles is too small,no phase transformation toughening occurred. Moreover, many microcracks will be created by the phase transformation if the grain size is big enough. Then, these microcracks lead to fracture and have a negative effect on the wear resistance of ADZ ceramics.

Composite of Indium and Polysorbate 20 as Inhibitor for Zinc Corrosion in Alkaline Solution

        Xiaoping Li,Man Liang,Hebing Zhou,Qiming Huang,Dongsheng Lv,Weishan Li 대한화학회 2012 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.33 No.5

The combined use of indium and polysorbate 20 (Tween 20) was considered as a new inhibition technique for zinc corrosion. Zn and Zn-In alloy coatings were prepared by electrodeposition and their morphology and composition were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). The corrosion inhibition effect of indium and Tween 20 on zinc was investigated by polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The corrosion inhibition efficiencies obtained from Tafel and EIS analyses are well in agreement. Zinc corrosion can be inhibited to some extent by the individual use of indium and Tween 20 and higher corrosion inhibition efficiency can be obtained by the combined use of indium and Tween 20.

Experimental investigation and stability analysis on dense-phase pneumatic conveying of coal and biomass at high pressure

        Liang Cai,Cai Jiaying,Xu Guiling,Xu Pan,Chen Xiaoping,Zhao Changsui 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.2

Conveying characteristics and flow stability are very important for design and control of a conveying system at high pressure. The influences of operating parameters and material properties on conveying characteristics were investigated in an experimental test facility with a conveying pressure up to 4MPa. Wavelet transform and Shannon entropy analysis were applied to analyzing pressure drops through horizontal pipe in order to obtain the stability criterion. Results indicated that the mass flow rate of biomass decreased, while the mass flow rate of pulverized coal increased at first and then decreased with the increase in fluidization velocity. Solid loading ratios for four kinds of powders decreased with the increase in fluidization velocity. Conveying phase diagrams and pressure drops through different test sections of pulverized coal and biomass at high pressure were obtained and analyzed. The influences of coal category, fracture characteristics and particle size on conveying characteristics were determined.

Flow characteristics and dynamic behavior of dense-phase pneumatic conveying of pulverized coal with variable moisture content at high pressure

        Liang Cai,Chen Xiaoping,Zhao Changsui,Pu Wenhao,Lu Peng,Fan Chunlei 한국화학공학회 2009 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.26 No.3

Experiments of dense-phase pneumatic conveying of pulverized coal using nitrogen were performed in an experimental test facility with the conveying pressure up to 4MPa and the solid-gas ratio up to 500 kg/㎥. The influences of the total conveying differential pressure, the moisture content, the superficial velocity and the pressure on the mass flow rate and the solid-gas ratio were investigated. Shannon entropy analysis of pressure fluctuation time series was developed to reveal the flow characteristics. Based on the distribution of the Shannon entropy in the different conditions, the flow stability and the evolutional tendency of Shannon entropy in different regimes and the regime transition processes were obtained. The results indicate that the solid gas ratio and Shannon entropy rise with increase in the total conveying differential pressure. A phase diagram and Shannon entropy reveal preferable regularity with superficial velocity. Shannon entropy is different for the different flow regimes, and it can be used to identify the flow regimes. As the moisture content increases, the mass flow rate, the pressure drop and Shannon entropy decrease. Shannon entropy rises with increase in pressure drop.

Investigation on characteristics of pulverized coal dense-phase pneumatic conveying under high pressure

        Chen Xiaoping,Fan Chunlei,Liang Cai,Pu Wenhao,Lu Peng,Zhao Changsui 한국화학공학회 2007 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.24 No.3

of dense-phase pneumatic conveying of pulverized coal were carried out in a test facility witha conveying pressure up to 4 MPa. The influence of fluidization nitrogen flow rate, the flow rate of supplementarysolid mass flow rate was investigated. Test results indicate that with the increase in fluidization nitrogen flow rate, thesolid mass flow rate increases, and the solids to gas ratio increases at first and then declines. When the fluidization ofpulverized coal in the sending vessel becomes intensive, with the increase in supplementary nitrogen flow rate, thesolids to gas ratio declines and the solid mas flow rate increases. And the solid mass flow rate increases linearly withthe increase in presure diference between two hoppers. The experimental results provide a database for the design

Frequency-Dependent Effects on Bladder Reflex by Saphenous Nerve Stimulation and a Possible Action Mechanism of Tibial Nerve Stimulation in Cats

        Xing Li,Xiaoping Wan,Zhaoxia Wang,Yanan Liang,Zhuo Jia,Xu Zhang,Limin Liao 대한배뇨장애요실금학회 2021 International Neurourology Journal Vol.25 No.2

Purpose: The present study determined the effects of saphenous nerve stimulation (SNS) at different stimulation frequencies on bladder reflex and explored a possible action mechanism of tibial nerve stimulation (TNS) on bladder activity in cats. Methods: Two bipolar nerve cuff electrodes were implanted on the saphenous nerve and the contralateral tibial nerve in 13 cats, respectively. Multiple cystometrograms were obtained to determine the effects of single SNS at different frequencies and that of combined SNS and TNS on the micturition reflex by infusing normal saline. Results: SNS at 1 Hz significantly reduced the bladder capacity (BC) to 59.8%±7.7% and 59.3%±5.8% of the control level at the intensity threshold (T) and 2T, respectively (P<0.05), while that at 20 Hz significantly increased the BC to 130.6%±4.2% of the control level at 6T (P<0.05). The TNS and SNS at 20 Hz did not significantly change the BCs at 1T (P>0.05), while combined stimulation at 1T significantly increased the BC to 122.7%±1.9% of the control level and induced an inhibitory effect which was similar to that TNS at 2T. Conclusions: The current study revealed that SNS reduced and increased BC depending on different stimulation frequencies. The combined SNS and TNS maximized the clinical efficacy at a low intensity. Also, SNS may be a potential therapeutic mechanism of TNS.

Maternal betaine supplementation ameliorates fatty liver disease in offspring mice by inhibiting hepatic NLRP3 inflammasome activation

        Li Lun,Sun Liuqiao,Liang Xiaoping,Ou Qian,Tan Xuying,Li Fangyuan,Lai Zhiwei,Ding Chenghe,Chen Hangjun,Yu Xinxue,Wu Qiongmei,Wei Jun,Wu Feng,Wang Lijun 한국영양학회 2023 Nutrition Research and Practice Vol.17 No.6

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Previous research has shown maternal betaine supplementation alleviates fetal-derived hepatic steatosis. Therefore, this study examined the anti-inflammatory effect of maternal betaine intake in offspring mice and its mechanism. MATERIALS/METHODS: Female C57BL/6J mice and their offspring were randomly divided into 3 groups according to the treatment received during gestation and lactation: control diet (CD), fatty liver disease (FLD), and fatty liver disease + 1% betaine (FLD-BET). The FLD group was given a high-fat diet and streptozotocin (HFD + STZ), and the FLD-BET group was treated with HFD + STZ + 1% betaine. After weaning, the offspring mice were given a normal diet for 5 weeks and then dissected to measure the relevant indexes. RESULTS: Compared to the CD group, the offspring mice in the FLD group revealed obvious hepatic steatosis and increased serum levels of alanine aminotransferase, interleukin (IL)-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α; maternal betaine supplementation reversed these changes. The hepatic mRNA expression levels of IL-6, IL-18, and Caspase-1 were significantly higher in the FLD group than in the CD group. Maternal betaine supplementation reduced the expression of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-18, and apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing C-terminal caspase recruitment domain (ASC). Maternal betaine supplementation also reversed the increasing protein expressions of nitric oxide dioxygenase-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3), ASC, Caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-18 in offspring mice exposed to HFD + STZ. Maternal betaine supplementation decreased the homocysteine (Hcy) and s-adenosine homocysteine (SAH) levels significantly in the livers. Furthermore, the hepatic Hcy concentrations showed significant inverse relationships with the mRNA expression of TNF-α, NLRP3, ASC, and IL-18. The hepatic SAH concentration was inversely associated with the IL-1β mRNA expression. CONCLUSIONS: The lipotropic and anti-inflammatory effect of maternal betaine supplementation may be associated with the inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome in the livers of the offspring mice.

Effect of moisture content on dense-phase conveying of pulverized coal at high pressure

        Xu Pan,Chen Xiaoping,Liang Cai,Xu Guiling,Liu Daoyin,Zhao Changsui 한국화학공학회 2011 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.28 No.10

In dense-phase pneumatic conveying, the solid moisture content can significantly influence the conveying process, but there are very few studies in the open literature. In this study, the conveying experiments of two pulverized coals with various moisture contents were carried out at a 4MPa high pressure and dense-phase pneumatic conveying facility. Results show that the whole conveying system can be stably and controllably operated under the condition that moisture content below ~8%. With the increase of moisture content up to ~8%, the mass flow rate of 280 μm pulverized coal increases at first and then decreases, while that of 55 μm pulverized coal decreases continuously. The method of solid friction factor correlation is used to investigate pressure drop of the horizontal pipe, and non-dimensional parameters--Fr number, moisture content M and solid loading ratio μ--are investigated. The pressure drop predictions by this correlation are in good agreement with the experimental data. The solid friction factor correlations indicate that the fine coal is more sensitive to M, and μ plays a more important role for the coarse coal.
