Vol.16 No.7

(Background and Purpose) Our society’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic led to various social, urban, and architectural changes, initiating the beginning of a “new normal.” This study established a research framework to assess the types of spatial composition of resort hotels. To this end, the study investigated the new spatial components of the architecture of interest for the public in the “untact” era and new types of factors that can promote psychological comfort in using spaces. Based on the research framework, this study analyzes the spatial composition of resort hotels and proposes their future directions. (Method) First, previous studies were analyzed to identify the types of spatial composition of resort hotels. Considering various factors, such as building size, building arrangements, and facilities arrangements, the types were classified into high-rise integrated design, low-rise integrated design, composite design, low-rise combination design, and independent single house design. By considering the new architectural components of interest at present, the study also derived the following five items for assessing the spatial composition of resort hotels: 1) physical and psychological accessibility; 2) openness of the space; 3) infection prevention and control; 4) safety of the building in case of emergencies; and 5) convenience of users. (Results) After identifying the order of priority of the factors that can meet the new needs of resort hotel users in the “untact” era, independent single house design was found to be the most appropriate, followed by low-rise combination design, composite design, and integrated design, in that order. Based on these results, this study proposes a guideline for the spatial composition of resort hotels, focusing on independent single house design, which was highly evaluated in terms of openness, psychological accessibility, and infection prevention and control. Furthermore, spaces such as the lobby, and auxiliary facilities with high contact density of users outside the resort's rooms are also presented. (Conclusions) The new architectural components of interest for the public in the “untact” era greatly affected the users’ needs, resulting in some restrictions. Focusing on resort hotels, this study analyzed different spatial composition to suggest directions for future resort hotel construction designs. It is hoped that the guideline for the spatial composition of resort hotels proposed in this study, which considers the new consumer demands in the post-COVID era, can be used as basic data for the spatial composition of resort hotels to be constructed in the future.

        오상진(Sangjin Oh),이현(Hyun Lee),이정규(Jeongkyu Lee),이영환(Younghwan Lee),정은경(Eunkyung Jeong),이현식(Hyunsik Lee) (사)한국CDE학회 2020 한국CDE학회 논문집 Vol.25 No.4

Although the Fourth Industrial Revolution comes to reality rapidly, construction industry is going through a difficult time to adopt new technologies. Also, improving productivity is one of the most urgent issues for major construction companies. However, reading information and digitizing them from imaged drawings takes much time and it becomes a reason for low productivity. Thus, in this paper, we propose a method to recognize symbols in P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagram) using neural networks for Semantic Segmentation. First, crop a drawing into small patches and label on them 8 classes of symbol. Then, Train U-net and FCN with 2,500 patches with annotation. After training, results of recognition are displayed with color code on imaged drawings. Finally, we run tests with 5 new P&ID drawings and scored the performance of our recognition models.

      • DC Critical Current Test Method for 22.9 kV/50 MVA Superconducting Power Cable Considering the Uncertainty

        Sukjin Choi,Sangjin Lee,Kideok Sim,Jeonwook Cho,Soogil Lee,Sang-Geun Lee,Kyu Won Lee,Sang Young Lee,Dong Ho Kim,Tae Kuk Ko IEEE 2010 IEEE transactions on applied superconductivity Vol.20 No.3

In Korea, the superconducting power cable has been developed since 2001, with the basic specifications of 22.9 kV/50 MVA. The superconducting power cable can carry more than 2 to 5 times higher electric power compared with conventional ones. It is important to test the DC critical current related with its power capacity before applying to the real power grid. In 1995, several international standards organizations including IEC, decided to unify the use of statistical terms related with 'accuracy' or 'precision' in their standards. It was decided to use the word 'uncertainty' for all quantitative (associated with a number) statistical expressions. In this paper, we measured DC critical current of 22.9 kV/50 MVA superconducting power cable with several voltage tap and analyzed the uncertainty with these results. These analyzed results can be applied the standardization of the superconducting power cable.

Robust Interval Estimation Using Density Power Divergence

2022 Journal of the Korean Data Analysis Society Vol.24 No.1

The maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) is known to be asymptotically efficient but it is not robust with respect to outliers and model misspecification. Basu et al. (1998) suggest a family of divergence measures called density power divergences , which is based on density. Each measure in this family is indexed by a single tuning parameter a. This parameter controls the trade-off between asymptotic efficiency and robustness of the estimators. The L₂-distance and the Kullback-Leibler divergence belong to this family. With a appropriately chosen tuning parameter, one can get a minimum density power divergence estimator (MDPDE). For 0 < a < 1, the estimator is in between MLE and minimum L₂-distance estimator L₂E. Note that MLE is efficient-but-nonrobust while L₂E is robust-butinefficient. Hong, Kim (2001) suggest an automatic selection of a. In this paper we will suggest a confidence interval using MDPDE when the data set is contaminated. Bootstrap resampling will be used to obtain the confidence interval. It is expected that the resulting confidence intervals (called MDPD bootstrap confidence intervals) are robust with respect to the outliers. The performances of the MDPDE bootstrap confidence intervals are investigated via simulation study.

      • Robust Interval Estimation Using Density Power Divergence

Vol.2021 No.2

It is well known that the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) is asymptotically efficient but not robust with respect to both model misspecification and outliers. Basu et al. (1998) suggest a family of density-based divergence measures called `density power divergences . Each measure in this family is indexed by a single tuning parameter α, which controls the trade-off between robustness and asymptotic efficiency of the estimators. The Kullback-Leibler divergence (Kullback, Leibler, 1951) and 𝐿₂ -distance are members of this family. With a suitably chosen tuning parameter, a minimum density power divergence estimator (MDPDE) can be obtained. For 0<α<1, the estimator is in between MLE (efficient-but-nonrobust) and minimum 𝐿₂ -distance estimator 𝐿₂𝐸 (robust-but-inefficient). Hong, Kim(2001) suggest a data-driven selection of α. In this paper we will suggest a confidence interval using MDPDE when the data set is contaminated. Bootstrap resampling will be used to obtain the confidence interval. The resulting confidence intervals (called MDPD bootstrap confidence intervals) are expected to be robust with respect to the outliers. The performance of the MDPDE bootstrap confidence intervals are investigated via simulation study.
