• S. pneumoniae 호흡기감염 마우스에서 Rufloxacin의 항균력에 대한 조직학적 연구

        구세광,이형식,김종대,최해윤,이재현 慶山大學校 基礎科學硏究所 2002 基礎科學 Vol.6 No.1

In order to evaluate the in vivo effect of rufloxacin (RUFX), the viable bacterial number and histopathological changes were monitored after experimental respiratory infection with Sterptococcus pneumoniae ATCC 6303. In RUFX, the viable bacterial numbers were significantly and dose-dependently decreased compared to that of Control group. In Control group, severe infiltration of inflammatory cells, hemorrhage and hypertrophy of alveolar linings were demonstrated at microscopical levels. However, these abnormal histopathological changes were significantly and dose-dependently decreased compared to that of Control group in RUFX group. And also in RUFX group, the LSA (luminal surface of alveoli %) were significantly and dose-dependently increased compared to that of Control group. According to these results, it is considered as the in vivo antibacterial activity of RUFX was histologically showed against Steptococcus pneumoniae ATCC 6303 infection of respiratory tract in this study.

국내 TMR의 입자도에 관한 조사 연구

        기광석,김현섭,정하연,이현준,안병석,김준식,강수원,김용국,하종규 한국동물자원과학회 2003 한국축산학회지 Vol.45 No.5

This study was carried out to survey operation system of self-making TMR and particle size of self-making and commercial TMR, then to compare TMR particle size recommended by Penn State particle Size Separator. Daily mixing time in self-making TMR averaged 48.6±28.0min, 2 angar type of mixer was most by 55.5% and daily 2 times of mixing in summer and other season was 44.4 and 22.2%, respectively. Percentage of residual feed in upper sieve(19㎜ diameter), middle sieve(8 ti 18㎜ diameter) and lower pen was 21.5~25.6%, 16.0~25.8%, 52.8~61.4%, respectively, at self-making TMR mixer. Percentage of particle sizes of more than 19㎜ in self-making and commercial TMR was 24.9±1.4 and 26.2±1.7%, that of 8-10㎜ 22.8±1.0 and 12.8±1.2 and that of less than 8㎜ 52.3±1.7 and 61.0±1.5, respectively, which in particle length of 8~13㎜ in self-making and commercial TMR was lower by 82.6 and 100% compared to that recommended by Penn State particle separator, respectively. Especially there was not particle length of more than 19㎜ in commercial TMR at all. It is necessary to check the number of cows ruminating in a farm in order to estimate the particle size of TMR; it is recommended to change the TMR mixing time or the TMR formulae if the proportion of ruminating cows in a farm is less than 40%.

Interactions between the plasma membrane and the antimicrobial peptide HP (2-20) and its analogues derived from Helicobacter pylori

        Lee, Kwang H.,Lee, Dong G.,Park, Yoonkyung,Kang, Dong-Il,Shin, Song Y.,Hahm, Kyung-Soo,Kim, Yangmee Portland Press 2006 Biochemical journal Vol.394 No.1

HP (2-20), a 19-residue peptide derived from the N-terminus of Helicobacter pylori ribosomal protein L1, has antimicrobial activity but is not cytotoxic to human erythrocytes. We synthesized several peptide analogues to investigate the effects of substitutions on structure and antimicrobial activity. Replacement of Gln16 and Asp18 with tryptophan [anal-3 (analogue-3)] caused a dramatic increase in lytic activities against bacteria and fungi. By contrast, a decrease in amphiphilicity caused by replacement of Phe5 or Leu11 with serine was accompanied by a reduction in antimicrobial activity. Analysis of the tertiary structures of the peptides in SDS micelles by NMR spectroscopy revealed that they have a well-defined α-helical structure. Among the analogues, anal-3 has the longest α-helix, from Val4 to Trp18. The enhanced hydrophobicity and increased α-helicity results in enhanced antimicrobial activity in anal-3 without an increase in haemolytic activity. Fluorescence experiments proved that the bacterial-cell selectivity of the anal-3 peptide is due to its high binding affinity for negatively charged phospholipids in bacterial cells. Results showing the effect of spin-labels on the NMR spectra indicated that the side chains in the hydrophobic phase of the amphiphilic α-helix are buried on the surface of the micelle and the tryptophan indole ring is anchored in the membrane surface. Because anal-3 shows high selectivity towards bacterial and fungal cells, it may provide an avenue for the development of new antibiotics.

Spatial Distribution of Elastic Wave Velocities in Bi12SiO20

        J.Y. Sohn,Y.S. Yu,Kwang-Sei Lee,S.D. Lee 한국물리학회 2005 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.46 No.1

High quality single crystal Bi12SiO20 (BSO) with space group I23 was grown by the Czochralski method at 930C. We investigated the phase and group velocities of the elastic wave by numerical simulation by using tensor analysis and coordinate transformation. The spatial distributions of elastic wave velocities are obtained by the stereographic projection (SGP) method. We obtained the magnitude and direction of the phase and group velocities, and discuss the pure mode and acoustic axis of this material.

Fuel Cell as an Alternative Distributed Generation Source under Deregulated Power Systems

        李光延(Kwang Y. Lee),金世鎬(Se-Ho Kim),金一煥(Eel-Hwan Kim),金豪贊(Ho-Chan Kim) 대한전기학회 2006 전기학회논문지A Vol.55 No.12

Because of the trend of deregulation, power industry is going through an unprecedented transformation in North America and Europe, and there are a host of acquisitions and mergers by the private sector to position themselves to take advantage of new business opportunities. Deregulation has accelerated the development of smaller generators and fuel cells will gradually become more attractive to mainstream electricity users as they improve in capability and decrease in cost. Fuel Cell technology is surveyed and the potential of using fuel cell as a distributed generation source is presented. This paper recommends the fuel cell power plants as alternative energy sources for distributed generation in Jeju Island, Korea. This will help in increasing fuel efficiency, at least double the current thermal plants', increasing the reliability of power supply, reducing the dependency on the HVDC link, providing quality power to the growing infrastructure, and maintaining clean air in meeting the free-trade international island.
