      • 반복적인 굽힘에 따른 FBGA 메모리 모듈의 피로 수명 예측

        In this research, the fatigue life of fine-pitch ball grid array (FBGA) solder joints in memory modules was predicted by the bending experiment and the finite element analysis. Four-point bending test was performed by JEDEC standard to determine fatigue life of a memory module with five packages. Finite element model of the memory module was developed and analyzed under various displacement levels by using direct integration method. Strain under cyclic bending was measured and compared with simulation results for validation of the finite element model of the memory module. A global-local modeling technique was used in finite element simulation to calculate the strain response of the solder joints, and Coffin-Manson equation was developed by experimental and simulation methods. Then, the fatigue life of memory modules was predicted under cumulative damage condition by using the Miner’s rule and compared with experimental results. Experimental results show that predicted fatigue life of the memory module matches with experimental results closely.

      • 공동디자인 과정에서 디자이너의 공감 능력이 HCI 디자인에 미치는 영향

        디자이너의 사용자에 대한 혹은 다른 디자이너들의 입장에 대한 공감 능력은 HCI 디자인 및 공동디자인 (Co-design) 과정에 중요한 영향을 미친다. 본 논문에서는 디자이너를 인터뷰한 후, 공감적 디자이너 (empathetic designer)와 직감적 디자이너 (intuitive designer)로 구분한 후, 사용자와 ‘Nike 에서 출시하는 진공청소기"를 공동디자인하도록 하였다. 주제분석 (thematic analysis)과 반-구조적 인터뷰 테크닉 (semi-structured interview)을 통해 디자인 과정을 분석하였으며, 그 결과 직감적 디자이너는 공동디자인 수행 중 디자인고정 (design fixation)에 빠질 가능성이 높은 반면, 공감적 디자이너는 사용자와 디자이너의 반복되는 질문과 대답을 통해 보다 견고하고 일관된 디자인 결과물을 얻을 수 있었다. The effect of designer’s empathy level during the co-design process has been paid much attention. In this paper, two groups of designers conducted a ‘Nike vacuum cleaner’ co-design practice with potential users: empathetic and intuitive designers. The co-design process was analyzed with a thematic analysis and a semistructured interview. The result indicates that the intuitive designer group tends to have ‘design fixation’ problems, and empathetic designers might achieve robust and coherent design quality but not efficiently.

      • 참여적 디자인 방법론을 사용한 의료용 기능성 게임 ‘RehabMaster’개발 사례연구

        기존의 뇌졸중 환자 재활용 기능성 게임은 환자 중심의 게임디자인에 초점을 두고 재활을 진행하는 다른 주체인 의사와 치료사를 위한 디자인 요소는 상대적으로 덜 반영되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 기능성 게임의 환자중심디자인에 부합되면서 의사와 치료사까지 고려할 수 있는 디자인 요소를 참여적 디자인 방법론을 통해 제안하고, 이를 바탕으로 의료용 기능성 게임 RehabMaster 를 개발하였다. RehabMaster 를 이용한 임상실험을 통해 임상 및 사용성 측면에서 다양한 재활주체를 고려한 디자인 요소의 유효성을 검증하였다. Various researches have done about serious game in order to rehabilitate stroke patients. These serious games mainly focused on a stroke patient’s perspective, so they merely consider about other rehabilitation stakeholders like physiatrists and occupational therapists. In this paper, by using participatory design method, we propose design factors which not only fulfilling stroke patients but also physiatrists and therapists. Based on these design factors, we made a rehabilitation serious game RehabMaster. An empirical study was carried out with this serious game to validate both clinical advantage and design factors, and how these design factors would help HCI practitioners was also discussed.

        Nontargeted Metabolite Profiling in Compatible Pathogen-Inoculated Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. Wisconsin 38) Using UPLC-Q-TOF/MS

        <P>A biphasic reactive oxygen species (ROS) production has previously been observed in tobacco at 1 and 48 h after inoculation with the hemibiotrophic compatible pathogen, Phytophthora parasitica var. <I>nicotianae</I> (<I>Ppn</I>). To characterize the response of tobacco to biphasically produced ROS concerning the propagation of <I>Ppn</I>, ultraperformance liquid chromatography–quadrupole–time of flight/ mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) based metabolic profiling combined with multivariate statistical analysis was performed. Among the nonredundant 355 mass ions in ESI+ mode and 345 mass ions in ESI– mode that were selected as significantly changed by <I>Ppn</I> inoculation (|<I>p</I>(corr)| > 0.6 on S-plot of orthogonal partial least-squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA), fold-change > 2, and <I>p</I> < 0.05 in the independent two-sample <I>t</I> test), 76 mass ions were identified on the basis of their accurate mass ions and MS/MS spectra. Phenolic amino acids, phenylpropanoids, hydroxycinnamic acid amides, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, lysophospholipids, glycoglycerolipids, and trioxidized phospholipids were identified as having changed after <I>Ppn</I> inoculation.       • Metabolic Survey of Defense Responses to a Compatible Hemibiotroph, Phytophthora parasitica var. <i>nicotianae</i>, in Ethylene Signaling-Impaired Tobacco

        <P>Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and ethylene play an important role in determining the resistance or susceptibility of plants to pathogen attack. A previous study of the response of tobacco cultivar (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. Wisconsin 38) to a compatible hemibiotroph, Phytophthora parasitica var. <I>nicotianae</I> (<I>Ppn</I>) showed that biphasic bursts of ROS and ethylene are positively associated with disease severity. The levels of ethylene and ROS might influence the susceptibility of plants to pathogens, with changing levels of metabolite related to disease resistance or susceptibility. In this study, to obtain more detailed information on the interaction of ROS and ethylene signaling related to resistance and/or susceptibility of plants to pathogen, <I>Ppn</I>-induced metabolic profiles from wild type (WT) and ethylene signaling-impaired transgenic plants that expressed <I>Ein3</I> antisense (<I>Ein3-AS</I>) were compared using ultraperformance liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF-MS). Nonredundant mass ions (576 in ESI+ mode and 336 in ESI– mode) were selected, and 56 mass ions were identified on the basis of their accurate mass ions and MS/MS spectra. Two-way hierarchical clustering analysis of the selected mass ions revealed that nicotine and phenylpropanoid–polyamine conjugates, such as caffeoyl-dihydrocaffeoyl–spermidine, dicaffeoyl–spermidine, caffeoyl-feruloyl–spermidine, and two bis(dihydrocaffeoyl)–spermine isomers, and their intermediates, such as arginine and putrecine, were present at lower levels in <I>Ein3-AS</I> transgenic plants during <I>Ppn</I> interaction than in WT, whereas galactolipid and oxidized free fatty acid levels were higher in <I>Ein3-AS</I> transgenic plants.         Treatment of a penetrating inferior vena cava injury using doctor-helicopter emergency medical service and direct-to-operating room resuscitation in Korea: a case report

        Inferior vena cava (IVC) injuries can have fatal outcomes and are associated with high mortality rates. Patients with IVC injuries require multiple procedures, including prehospital care, surgical techniques, and postoperative care. We present the case of a 67-year-old woman who stabbed herself in the abdomen with a knife, resulting in an infrarenal IVC injury. We shortened the transfer time by transporting the patient using a helicopter and decided to perform direct-to-operating room resuscitation by a trauma physician in the helicopter. The patient underwent laparotomy with IVC ligation for damage control during the first operation. The second- and third-look operations, including previous suture removal, IVC reconstruction, and IVC thrombectomy, were performed by a trauma surgeon specializing in cardiovascular diseases. The patient was discharged without major complications on the 19th postoperative day with rivaroxaban as an anticoagulant medication. Computed tomography angiography at the outpatient clinic showed that thrombi in the IVC and both iliac veins had been completely removed. Patients with IVC injuries can be effectively treated using a trauma system that includes fast transportation by helicopter, damage control for rapid hemostasis, and expert treatment of IVC injuries.

      • Counterfactual vs. Prefactual: Two narrative AIs improve causability for health data by different mechanisms

        Narrative artificial intelligence (AI), which adds narrative persuasion to simple causal interpretation, is an explainable AI technique that helps patients understand their health data (e.g., MRI results). Narrative AI is expected to improve causability for health data and thereby induce meaningful behavioral change. However, research on which type of narrative AI (i.e., counterfactual or prefactual) better improves causability for complex health data is still elusive. This study created two different types of narrative AI for MRI reports (i.e., counterfactual and prefactual) and compared their impact on causability with 20 participants. System causability scale results showed that both narrative AI provided a high level of causability. Semi-structured interview results showed that the two narrative AIs improve causability by different mechanisms. While counterfactual made participants focus on self-reflection, prefactual made participants seek self-improvement to prepare for the future. Our findings showed that the two types of narrative AI (i.e., counterfactual and prefactual) improve causability by different mechanisms. By understanding these different underlying mechanisms, we expect to be able to design and deliver more personalized narrative AI to users.
