Relation between Earthward magnetotail flow and low-latitude Pi2 pulsations

It has been suggested that oscillatory earthward bursty bulk flows (BBFs) in the magnetotail are driving Pi2 oscillations on the ground. However, only a few studies examined the BBF-driven Pi2 model. The goal of this study is to establish the relation between BBFs and Pi2s. In order to examine BBF-drive model, we will conduct the timing analysis between BBFs and Pi2s for the intervals during which both Pi2 and BBF are present. In our study BBFs are identified with earthward flow speeds up to 200 km/s from THEMIS probes with a geocentric distance between 7 and 12 RE in the nightside magnetosphere for the interval from January 2008 to March 2008. Pi2 pulsations are identified at three low/mid-latitude ground stations having different local times; Bohyun (L = 1.35, LT ~ UT +9 hr), Hermanus (L = 1.83, LT ~ UT +2 hr) and Carson city (L = 2.00, LT ~ UT -2 hr). It is found that ~28% of BBFs have onset timing nearly identical to Pi2 onset. To investigate whether there is high similarity in the waveform between BBF and Pi2 oscillations, the coherence analysis is applied to the time series of BBF and Pi2 events. We found that there is no high coherence between BBF and Pi2 oscillations. Thus our observations suggest that low-latitude Pi2 oscillations are not directly driven by earthward flow bursts.

This study examined the ductile behavior of hybrid steel-reinforced concrete beam systems under reversed cyclic lateral loads. All specimens showed a high ductile performance with the displacement ductility ratio of more than 4.6, regardless of the details of dowel reinforcement at the joint region of the developed hybrid beam system.
정보추출 가능한 스마트카드 환경에서 익명성과 추적성을 제공하는 원격 사용자 인증 기법

최근 개인 프라이버시 보호에 대한 관심과 요구가 증대됨에 따라 스마트카드 기반의 원격 사용자 인증 기법들에서도 사용자 익명성을 제공하는 연구들이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 2008년, Kim 등은 스마트카드 기반의 사용자 인증에서 외부 공격자와 원격서버 모두에 대하여 사용자 익명성을 보장하고 사용자의 악의적인 행동으로 인한 문제 발생 시에는 추적서버의 도움으로만 악의적인 사용자를 추적하기 위한 인증 기법을 처음으로 제안하였다. 그러나, 2010년에 Lee 등은 Kim 등의 기법에서 원격서버가 추적서버의 도움 없이도 사용자를 추적할 수 있는 문제점이 있음을 지적하고, 이를 개선한 인증 기법을 제안하였다. 한편, 2010년에 Horng 등은 정보추출이 가능한 스마트카드 환경, 즉 공격자가 전력 소비 모니터링 등과 같은 특수한 정보 분석기법을 통하여 스마트카드 안에 저장된 비밀 정보를 알아낼 수 있는 환경에서도 다양한 공격들에 대하여 안전하고 외부 공격자에 대하여 사용자 익명성을 제공할 수 있는 인증 기법을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 정보추출 가능한 스마트카드 환경에서 외부 공격자뿐만 아니라 원격서버에 대해서도 익명성을 보장하고 필요시에는 추적서버의 도움으로만 사용자를 추적할 수 있는 원격 사용자 인증 기법을 제안하고자 한다. Recently, because the interest and needs in privacy protection are growing, smartcard-based remote user authentication schemes have been actively studied to provide the user anonymity. In 2008, Kim et al. first proposed an authentication scheme in order to ensure the user anonymity against both external attackers and the remote server and track malicious users with the help of a trusted trace sever. However, in 2010, Lee et al. showed that Kim et al.’s scheme cannot provide the user anonymity against remote server, which is because the server can trace users without any help of the trace server, and then proposed a improved scheme. On the other hand, in 2010, Horng et al. proposed an authentication scheme with non-tamper resistant smart cards, in which the non-tamper resistant smart card means that an attacker may find out secret information stored in the smart card through special data analysis techniques such as monitoring power consumption, to be secure against a variety of attacks and to provide the user anonymity against external attackers. In this paper, we will propose a remote user authentication scheme with non-tamper resistant smart cards not only to ensurethe user anonymity against both external attackers and the remote server but also to track malicious users with only the help of a trusted trace sever.

This experimental study showed that the shear friction strength that the joint regions of hybrid steel-reinforced concrete beam systems was increased by the dowel bars.

This study was carried out to analyze the light and thermal environment in model greenhouse using infrared absorption film as shading screen and to compare with the case of no shading and using general shading screen such as aluminum foil-backed film, black polyethylene film and thermal blanket. PPFD(photosynthetic photon flux density) of inside the model greenhouse under infrared absorption film was increased by 22% than under general shading screen on the average. And temperature of inside air under infrared absorption film was 2℃ lower than under general shading screen on the average. So, it is expected that infrared absorption film is useful as shading screen.

To examine the practical potentials of V-ties to provide a confinement to a strengthening jacket section of existing reinforced concrete members, direct bond tests were conducted under a parameter of the V-tie details. Test results showed that V-ties with headed-end had a higher bond strength than those with the other details.

This study examines the effect of dowel bars on the flexural behavior of a hybrid H-steel―reinforced concrete (HSRC) beam system with a simple ductile connection developed to overcome the limitation of a conventional bolt connection method. Five HSRC beams were tested under overhanging beam system subjected to two-point concentrated top loads at the free-end of H-steel beam and reinforced concrete(RC) beams. The simultaneous flexural yielding was induced at the H-steel under negative moments and RC beams under positive moments. Test results showed that the propagation of flexural cracks and peak strength of HSRC beams were insignificantly influenced by the configuration of dowel bars. Meanwhile, the flexural ductility of HSRC beams was enhanced by the dowel bars with reliable anchorage into H-steel beams, indicating that the displacement ductility ratio of HSRC beams with anchored dowel bars was approximately 1.5 times higher than that of hybrid beams with bolt connections. Furthermore, the failure loads of HSRC beams with anchored dowel bars could be accurately estimated by the collapse mechanism derived under consideration of a rigid joint for the developed ductile connection.

The present study analyzed heat transfer characteristic of a plate heat spreader according to change of angle and amount of working fluid. The heat spreader manufactured with copper and its size was 50×120×1.5㎜. The angle was 0° (horizon), 30° , 60° , 90° (vertical) and amount of working fluid was 85%, 100% and 115% of standard amount. Thermal resistance was estimated at each case when input power was 10W, 20W, 30W, 40W, 50W. When angle was 0° and input power was 10W, thermal resistance was decreased as amount of working fluid was decreased. But when angle and amount was increased thermal resistance was decreased as amount of working fluid was increased.
