In a phase I/IIa open-label and nonrandomized controlled clinical trial, we sought to assess the safety and neurological effects of human neural stem/progenitor cells (hNSPCs) transplanted into the injured cord after traumatic cervical spinal cord injury (SCI). Of 19 treated subjects, 17 were sensorimotor complete and 2 were motor complete and sensory incomplete. hNSPCs derived from the fetal telencephalon were grown as neurospheres and transplanted into the cord. In the control group, who did not receive cell implantation but were otherwise closely matched with the transplantation group, 15 patients with traumatic cervical SCI were included. At 1 year after cell transplantation, there was no evidence of cord damage, syrinx or tumor formation, neurological deterioration, and exacerbating neuropathic pain or spasticity. The American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale (AIS) grade improved in 5 of 19 transplanted patients, 2 (A → C), 1 (A → B), and 2 (B → D), whereas only one patient in the control group showed improvement (A → B). Improvements included increased motor scores, recovery of motor levels, and responses to electrophysiological studies in the transplantation group. Therefore, the transplantation of hNSPCs into cervical SCI is safe and well-tolerated and is of modest neurological benefit up to 1 year after transplants. This trial is registered with Clinical Research Information Service (CRIS), Registration Number: KCT0000879.

Ride Comfort Measuring Approach of Tilting Train based on Bio Parameter
KwangSoo-Shin,YoungBum-Lee,YongSoo-Song,SungHo-Han,MyoungHo-Lee 제어로봇시스템학회 2008 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2008 No.10
The Korea is consisted of 70% mountain terrain and at existing railroad, which is many of curve railroad segment naturally. The tilting train cancels centrifugal force of the curve railroad segment at sway and need not decelerate speed of tilting train in the curve railroad segment by the tilting of train body. As you get a hunch as term "tilting", the biggest advantage of tilting train is that the train body is tilted when the tilting train is driven. The TTX which is Korean tilting train is acquired tilting angle range from -8° to maximum 8° and can get high speed at railroad which shared with low speed train. But the tilting of passenger compartment gives negative influence by decreasing ride comfort. Presently, the measuring method of train ride comfort is mainly based of vibration, that is, mechanical parameter. This paper would like to show the ride comfort using the biological parameter by measuring R-R interval (Peak to Peak Interval) of ECG(Electrocardiogram), event number and measuring the event area of GSR(Garvanic Skin Response), the number of zero-crossing and magnitude of EMG (Electromyogram) of Human Model. This method is more direct, based on human body response, than mechanical parameter method. In this experiment, we are supposed to know excitement, awakening, muscle fatigue, through examining bio-signals. Considering pleasance and stability, elements of ride comfort, the pleasance is restricted thoroughly and our research will just only think aspect of stability. The research about ride comfort of TTX ultimately must make advance ride comfort of TTX.
An Experiments and Characteristics Analysis of the Sealless Cylinder
Shin Hur(허신),Kwangsoo Kim(김광수),Dong-Soo Kim(김동수) 대한기계학회 2009 대한기계학회 춘추학술대회 Vol.2009 No.11
This paper shows a performance analysis for conical type sealless cylinders and rod bearings. The pistons without seal have partly cylindrical and corneal shapes. 2 dimensional Reynolds equation and FD(finite differential) numerical techniques are utilized for the performance analysis. The relationship among self-centering forces and leakage flows are investigated. Also, optimal design values for a sealless cylinder are presented. A prototype of sealless cylinder which had rod bearing with four pockets, five pockets, and six pockets was manufactured respectively. Leakage flow test is conducted to evaluate performance of piston and rod bearing in seelless cylinder.
