고에너지밀도용접 과정에서의 2차원 열유동에 대한 수치해석적 연구

This work presents a two-dimensional quasi-steady state model to study the fluid flow and heat transfer in high-power density welding process of thin AISI-304 stainless steel plates. The enthalpy method and the finite volume method were used for a numerical analysis of the mushy region phase change as well as the heat flow at the weld pool and the heat-affected zone. The results show that the mushy region distributed around the weld pool becomes wider downstream and the surface heat losses by convection and radiation can be significant factors in welding process especially when a welding speed is relatively low.

This paper reports on the development of micro power system under way at Seoul National University. The interdisciplinary team consists of members with various backgrounds of mechanics and materials. The need for micro power systems is explained, and a turbine under development is described. Design, and fabrication are introduced, and technical challenges in each phase are described. Furthermore, the interaction between the available fabrication methods and design is explained Design involves use of commercially available codes to analyze flow fields, and fabrication takes advantage of the silicon wafer etching processes used to manufacture semiconductor devices.

Water strider legs, capable of enduring much heavier load than their body weight, are flexible. As a model for the legs, we study how floating flexible sheets in static equilibrium are deformed by hydrostatic pressure and surface tension using the linear theory of elasticity and the Young-Laplace equation. We also consider the maximum load supported by the sheets. The predictions agree well with experimental measurements.
Mode Change from Cone-jet to Dripping in Electrospraying

The mode change from Taylor cone-jet to dripping in electrospraying has been analytically investigated. The change has been predicted by the dynamic behavior of a liquid drop at the tip of the cone-jet. Conservation laws are applied to determine the upward motion of the drop, and an instability model of electrified jets is used to determine the jet breakup. Finally, for the first time, the analysis enables prediction of the transition in terms of the Weber number and electric Bond number. The predictions are in good agreement with experimental data.

This paper reports on the development of micro power system component under way at Seoul National University. The need for micro power systems is explained, and a micro power system components under development is described. Design, fabrication, and test processes are introduced, and technical challenges in each phase are described. To manufacture high aspect ratio structures, Deep Reactive Ion Etching (DRIE) process have been developed and optimized. Specially, in this study, Structures with aspect ratios greater than 10 were fabricated. Also, wafer direct bonding and I.R. camera bonding inspection systems have been developed. And the designed micro turbine system and micro combustor are fabricated and tested.
